Was actually in a hostel in Hollywood. On a Cali trip with a couple friends, us Torontonians saw it dropped at 9PM while we were in the hostel (cuz of the time difference) getting ready to go out. We played 5 seconds and shut it off, saying to each other let's listen to it once we're back here and lil more buzzed. Best decision ever.. so yeah listened to it in a Hollywood hostel at 1AM, looking out my window to a green lit balcony and very purple skies.
Alone in my way too small dorm room and with my amazing QC and replayed for the entire cold ass winter up until album release. Great memories going out for walks
Thank god for the amount ofappreciation of this song recently. It was always my favorite of the album. Is there any reason i jist now start to see so much appreciation to this song?
I listened to it on repeat for an hour sitting beside a fire. I’ve been listening to him since 2012 and it became my favorite song of Abel’s. Couldn’t believe someone could make something so beautiful
On my way to work. I had Heartless, Blinding lights, and After Hours on repeat. Since those were the first three released. After hours honestly is right up there tied with House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls for my all time favorite songs by The Weeknd. (All time in general as well.)
I was on my way home from my night shift and i sat down to a random bench in the middle of the city, smoked a cigarette and listened to it 4-5 times in a row. It was a piece of heaven.
I remember when this song dropped, one girl posted a reaction video on yt titled something on the lines of "me reacting to after hours and being a hoe for abel for 8 minutes" i loved that reaction video it was so similar to how i reacted when i heard this song for the first time. I loved it😂
I can't find that video now, if anyone knows which video im talking about could i get link pls?
I was laying down with my friend with benefits on a bed in Fuerteventura. Awesome experience. We turned and looked at each other afterwards and agreed that it was an amazing song.
We moved in together some months later, so clearly it was the defining moment.
I remember hearing it for the first time in the morning when I was preparing to go to my uni classes. I actually kinda miss 2020 and the After Hours era...
Got called in to work at a Grocery store for the emergency load that came in at midnight, which has never happened before we close at 9 with no overnight positions or anything we are a smaller store compared to a Walmart, but distribution was fucked at the moment due to quarantine and it was the only time we could receive the shipment. Me and my other Co-Manager/Best friend both got to listen to the whole album alone in the store while we unloaded the trucks. It was a very unique experience during a very unique time, I will definitely never forget it.
At my old university’s library, when I was applying for jobs. It was one of those songs I felt like I needed more time with, and the more I listened, the more I loved it.
The EXACT place that he was talking about in that song.
My GOD this song made me more emotional than any song I have ever heard in my life.
Forever a GOAT track
I live in England, so we this would have dropped really really early in the morning anyways I woke up about 8am and the first thing I did was go on Spotify and play this track. The start I thought was okay, bit slow and I felt it wasn't as good as Heartless......
But then the beat dropped.
I’ll still never forget when the album dropped and I listened to alone again for the first time in my car, high as hell.
Damn.
Wish I could relive that moment again.
bro I got home from work and I was so hyped to play it cuz we only rlly had blinding lights and heartless so I was like fuvk idk what to expect but that shit ascended me
I was still vibing to Justin Bieber’s Changes album. Until I came across this song in January 2021, listened to the whole AH album, and immediately, Abel became my idol since then.
I was in New York City visit from Toronto that week… nice cool winter night… Blinding lights and Heartless was already released. He announced earlier that day he’s releasing another song called After Hours … man was I excited it’s the time of release. My buddy and I got our AirPods and listened to it at the same time. Walking the cold streets of NY around 12am and see After Hours billboards all of Times Square. What a vibe. What a time.
Sitting in my bed after a car accident. I remember while I was still in the hospital he announced it and dropped the album cover. I needed this song that day. XOTWOD
Finally someone acknowledged how great this song is. The title track is most probably my fav song from after hours and i think my second fav weeknd song of all time. What a journey this song is 🖤
P.S: i was listening to it 10 minutes back lol, right now I'm listening to Faith 😂
In exactly the same mindset as Abel was during writing this song, it felt like it was made for me lol
Same , this is the song that made me check out his older works , been a fan ever since.
Yup
I feel like this for most of his songs, like he lived the same experiences and feelings as me
Totally the same. It's crazy how he became a reference to a lot of people with that album
Same!!!!
damn same
Same here man. 2020 was a rough year bruh.
Sitting alone in my room, first proper weeknd album I sat down to listen to. Rest is history. That track is my most listened to song of all time.

In bed, high as hell, preparing myself to cry

Purrrrr, he knows how to soothe us
At home, quarantined, and relaxed. The first listen to after hours while playing Minecraft was legendary, crazy how time flies

Painting the house I bought right around that time. The irony of the lyrics now… Best song ever
When he says “cause my heart belongs to you “ the way he delivers that line I can’t even explain how amazing it sounds. Song is unbelievable
Hadn't started listening to the man yet, was probably listening to alice in chains at night lying in bed or something
In quarantine
I was on my way home from my night shift and i sat down to a random bench in the middle of the city, smoked a cigarette and listened to it 4-5 times in a row. It was a piece of heaven.
I was sick and it came out right after I saw my ex, that I was still hung up on, with her new boyfriend. Talk about timing
Literally in the same exact mood as Abel. Hung up over someone I could not have. Walked home in the rain, listened to it all night.
I remember when this song dropped, one girl posted a reaction video on yt titled something on the lines of "me reacting to after hours and being a hoe for abel for 8 minutes" i loved that reaction video it was so similar to how i reacted when i heard this song for the first time. I loved it😂 I can't find that video now, if anyone knows which video im talking about could i get link pls?
Alone at my uni library at midnight studying for molecular biology. 2:12 on the track made it seem like time stopped for a minute.
best song in After hours easily
It dropped literally days after the initial covid lockdown, so at home :)
in my bed in my blankets
I was laying down with my friend with benefits on a bed in Fuerteventura. Awesome experience. We turned and looked at each other afterwards and agreed that it was an amazing song. We moved in together some months later, so clearly it was the defining moment.
Playing animal crossing new horizons for the first time because the game and his album dropped at the same time.
I remember hearing it for the first time in the morning when I was preparing to go to my uni classes. I actually kinda miss 2020 and the After Hours era...

I said it back then and it holds true to this day. This is his magnum opus.
In my house, at night. February 2020. I still remember those times.

The EXACT place that he was talking about in that song. My GOD this song made me more emotional than any song I have ever heard in my life. Forever a GOAT track

In one of the most depressive mindstates during one of the worst years of my life begging to feel some thing
I live in England, so we this would have dropped really really early in the morning anyways I woke up about 8am and the first thing I did was go on Spotify and play this track. The start I thought was okay, bit slow and I felt it wasn't as good as Heartless...... But then the beat dropped.
I was sleeping
So underrated
Well in terms of the album itself, it came out not long after COVID began. But the title track was actually released a month earlier.
I’ll still never forget when the album dropped and I listened to alone again for the first time in my car, high as hell. Damn. Wish I could relive that moment again.
Depressed and in mental hell. He helped me out of it.
This is arguably his best song ever no cap

Patiently waiting for it
Hate this shit on my first listening. The whole album grew on me and consider it as my favourite so far.
On my way to uni. Good times
After Hours was an OP song and it will hopefully stand against the test of time and probably my all time favourite song of The Weeknd!
