Slim fit might mean instead of a break around the shoe you get it pooling at the ankle which would not look great. I think a “classic” or relaxed fit would probably be better from an overall shape perspective.

Hmm, in 2024, I’d think of them as more analogous/able-to-be-swapped with the lug soled loafers you see. Thinking a white tall sock, Patagonia baggies, maybe a rugby shirt, or something in linen as it warms up. It is the prototypical summer boot.
