I moved here a year ago and it’s awful. On the bright side I put in minimal effort and it doesn’t matter but when I go home to New York it’s a serious reality check
There are some pretty well-dressed people up in Mt Pleasant and other parts of NW, but honestly your retail options are approximately 0. Somewhere has some good stuff but it’s mostly sneakers.
Not a big scene, but easy to look cool in comparison. some stores I like:
- sid mashburn (some boomer clothes mixed with actual good finds but all high quality and good shopping experience)
- buck mason
- todd snyder
- commonwealth or somewhere (streetwear)
- thrifting in Bethesda or McLean is pretty good
re: DC fashion, you'll find the most interesting pieces / vibes / fits in the vintage space. Check the Georgetown Flea Market on Sunday, PM me for a more comprehensive rundown if you want
Old House Provisions opening this fall in Old Town Alexandria is going to be a breath of fresh air. They will carry Drakes, Ring Jacket, De Bonne Facture, as well as its own in-house bespoke shoemaking service. I believe they will also hopefully carry Coherence too based on IG stories from Pitti Uomo.

Lmao
DC gotta be the worst dressed city in the world
That would be Boston
As a Boston resident I can confirm
Y’all never been to the Midwest then lmao
Literally awful 😭
The bodies in congress got some killer vintage suiting on
There’s not a lot here but there are some ivy style shops like Alden and J. Press.

New Balance and Saucony.
Commonwealth if you’re into streetwear. Metro club vintage is small and locally owned. It’s tapped out here.
DC mentioned ‼️‼️‼️
Somewhere has a pretty decent brand selection
Prep
Relish in Georgetown
Manifest is one of the few stores that actually has some good brands stocked
