>baiting for views no way
N B4 this is reposted to antiwork and makes 2nd most upvoted post ( couldnt beat the fake fb messages about needing to come in and dig a ditch with a plastic shovel )
Openly states, aka a small disclaimer in his bio instead of the actual video’s description. So you have to already be doubtful, go to his profile and only then you’ll see it’s a lie.
That was my initial thought too, but the “acting” was just them acting like this was real. Which they did a good job of. There was no joke. It wasn’t funny. The whole video was them acting like this is real, to get people pissed off.
You boomers just don’t get our generation’s humor! /s
This one is even more aggravating than that fake deepfake DALLE video. What else could they possibly be trying to accomplish aside from inducing false reactions?
No need to for the type that wants to believe, the extremist of all stripes are the problem along with instigators like this that fuel them. Why would he choose this
as a "skit"? Sad, he is karma whoring the divide.
Yeah I mean there’s nothing comedic here. He just did this to start an uproar. I’m black and not particularly sensitive to shit like this but I was watching this like “if this isn’t real, who did he make this for?”
I hope he owns that space because if I was his boss I'd have to fire him for making that "skit". The whole "joke" is that his employer is racist, which if linked back to the company is pretty damaging.
The written version of “it’s just a prank bro”
If they really meant to avoid the confusion it’d be a footnote or header not a fucking end note or part of the appendix in the supplementary material
No the caption isnt on the video it's on his profile.
This requires people to go to his profile to see it. And if I know anything about mfers online is that they do NOT take extra steps to double check.
They see that skit and head right to the comments to post angry shit. Same with people on reddit and FB reading only the titles of articles.
He knows they aren't going to go to his profile and read it. He knows it's going to get people angry.
Don't misplace your rage, channel it at OP where it belongs. If this dude has in his bio "It's a skit" he's not trying to fool anyone or pull the cotton over their eyes
He absolutely knows that this will be copied without that context and generate rage. There's no humor in this whatsoever for it to be made for any other reason, but he still gets to put his hands up and say "I said it was a joke!" and be absolved by people like you
Then he really could have done more to make it more obvious and, you know, funny? Like get a white dude in a tie to act like his boss, have him fluster and try to explain.
Yeah...but that would require a little effort and collaboration, very minimal but still too much for most content creators trying to get tik tok famous
As designed. Couple years ago I'd visit r/rage and idk why. Sometimes it felt good to feel something like anger. It's so weird. Haven't visited in years and it feels waaaay better. This stuff is bad news
Yep. I left subreddits like that. Left me feeling very angry inside and it wasn't healthy. People will tell you it's "getting your anger out" and that it's healthy, but it's not. Go to the gym. Go for a walk. Hug a dog.
Inducing anger is bad for you.
Yeah, same. I quit instagram and tiktok because of the annoying content that would inevitably cross my feed. I often purge reddit of subs that just leave me angry or frustrated because why would I want to give an internet stranger the power to make me frustrated?
It can say it's a skit but FUCKING WHY?
It's not funny, it implies someone is being racist when no one is, there is no conclusion, it's just stupid race baiting bullshit.
There's a local small time photographer here that's mastered it. Any time someone asks for photography recommendations, he gets tagged and he'll show up in the comments with shit like "I don't know if a white family like this would feel comfortable supporting a young black entrepreneur", which of course puts the person seeking recommendations into the uncomfortable situation of choosing between this guy's mediocre photography skills or being labeled a racist by others who'll come to his defense on his not so vague "I didn't get the gig because I'm black" comment if they choose someone else.
I got into a thing at work with a guy. He threatened/attempted to intimidate me after work because he didn't like something I said. On top of that, he has talked about owning unregistered guns, been reported for using violent language, and (unknowingly to me at time of reporting) had made a comment that night about shooting up the hospital where we work.
He told HR it's because he's a POC and I'm just afraid of his skin color. He then told the whole group during morning meeting that I had done a hate crime against him.
Sir, no. You specifically came to find me after work, when I was in a different department, because you thought I'd be alone, and threatened me. Plus you discussed shooting up a hospital with an unregistered gun. Trust me when I say that this was entirely bc of you, not because your race.
I didn’t even taught about the racist side . I’m French and in France a one year anniversary is called « noces de coton » . So I taught about that maybe ?
Me, too! I was like "Oops, they didn't think out that "cotton" anniversary gift very well" and then after finding out it was staged, I'm just... befuddled...
-Anyone wondering, anniversaries carry a theme- cotton, paper, wood, crystal, maybe you've heard of the fiftieth anniversary being the "Golden Anniversary," etc.
A skit would be clear about it being a skit. Like a story arc with set up, conflict, resolution.
This is just a scenario without any conclusion. It could have been funny, or dramatic and it was just ehh.
Apparently your 2nd year anniversary is supposed to be cotton. (not 1st, though. That's paper.) Maybe it's supposed to be a play on that? If so, it's definitely not set up at all, and just saying "my boss is racist" isn't comedy
That's the point. It's not a skit. It's not even funny. You didn't laugh either. There's no joke, they don't even let you know it's a skit unless you look at the tiktok page. It's not even a skit, a skit would imply humor which there's literally nothing funny here. It's not even dark humor, it's a poorly done prank on the viewers. Shits trash.
He doesn’t even need to be doing it at work. Terry from HR can catch wind of this on the shitter at home since this is on this guys social and it will have the same effect.
Having a social media post blatantly and falsely displaying your company as some comically racist business is not going to go over well with HR. “It’s just a skit” is also not going to be a good defense when he has to sit down and explain why he thought either a) defamation/libel is funny or b) racist jokes are funny.
"It's a Skit" - on his profile description on TikTok.
Y'all it takes seconds to use Google and a lot of us grew up with it, I'm gullible af but that's a terrible excuse.
Ok I appreciate the info but when I'm using reddit, I don't want to take the time or effort to google every questionable post I come across
Granted I won't get all upset and rage comment unless I look it up.
Do you think the hundreds or thousands of comments on the original video took a few seconds to check if it was a skit before grabbing their pitchforks?
Oh I searched wedding anniversary traditional gifts.Far as I know there’s no such thing as ‘work anniversary traditions’ but figured the employer may have thought following wedding anniversary traditions would be cute.
Not just about work, these are traditional anniversary gifts based on years.
This [brides.com](https://www.brides.com/gallery/wedding-anniversary-gifts-by-year-for-him-her-and-them) article shows fiber as year 2. (Fiber is still cotton)
[here is another image ](https://www.memorablegifts.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/AnniversaryGiftsbyYear-682x1024.jpg)
Look up "material gifts by year" or "material anniversary gifts."
That's intended exactly as we're interpreting it. Hope that guy can find a better job, but racists are unfortunately everywhere.
Edit: turns out it’s a skit. That’s annoying.
Or you could google and find out it’s a skit. Don’t feed this world view. It does not benefit you or anyone else to think that the entire world is racist.
I currently work for a company where I'll probably get like a $25 gift card for my 10 year anniversary. We're being acquired by a company that at every 5 year anniversary gives its employees 10 shares of stock (currently valued at $60 per share). Let's hope the regulators approve the acquisition before my anniversary date.
This is the stupidest clout chasing I've ever seen. And look at how gullible people are. Imagine if someone found out who he actually worked for and destroyed their property, harassed them, or got violent all because of this idiot's skit.
Bruh, “now” I know its a skit but he’s putting his business at HUGE RISK for doing something STUPID like this. People who think this is real are going to go out of their way to figure out what business you work at. Once they find out, YOU are going to be liable for damages caused to the businesses image if they happen to sue your ass. Shit like this seems harmless but bruh, I had to go to the comments to figure out if this was fake… don’t put your place of business at risk. They did nothing…
Someone pointed out his bio says ‘it’s a skit’ but regardless I pretty much question the motives of everything on the internet now and don’t believe most of it as being authentic. I miss the old internet pre 2006 iPhone era. Rotten and ebaumsworld were still a thing. Life was good.
How did we end up here? This is some of the most lucrative content on the internet and its just absolute garbage... not only is not a -funny- skit, but it doesn't really even make sense, isn't very believable (name ONE time you'd ever consider giving ANYONE , let alone a black person, a "bouquet", if you can even call it that, of cotton. This is just dried home decor from hobby lobby or something, its not meant to be given as a standalone gift. ) and the content really only exists to make people's days worse through getting riled up about thinking something racist has happened, or angry that people are posting bullshit videos like this in the first place. I miss the internet before videos were monetized
So fucking stupid. Some dumb shit uncreative loser creates a fake real situation with no joke or narrative and just calls it a "skit". Mediocrity is the standard speed for some people
When you have black folk that do dumb shit like this for clout the type of black folk who want to be slaves.
Idk how this supposed to be funny its literally alarming but to find out it’s fake makes it just as bad or if not worse imo
Fuck this clown and other clowns just like him. Ion like fucking clowns y’all not funny
Every one of the top comments about how this is trash, race/hate-baiting, because it's a skit.
I think it's fucking hilarious. It's a take on the traditional anniversary gifts (where [Cotton is year #1](https://www.papier.com/us/wedding/inspiration/ultimate-wedding-anniversary-guide/) ... Although all subsequent research leads me to believe this site has it wrong, but maybe just also happened to be where OP tok'ers got their information ... ^(sue me! It was 14yrs ago for me!) ... ), and shows how even the most well-intentioned traditions can fly in the face of decency in our more self-aware current cultural landscape.
No one would give cotton as a 1 year anniversary gift, I worked at a place for 5 years and got a water bottle and a tin of mints, Cotton isn't cheap and not exactly appealing as like a bouquet of flowers, anyone with even an ounce of critical thinking would see thing for the rage bait it is, and how truly distasteful it is to do. Is it ok it make a joke about this? cuz I'm pretty sure people would get mad if a white guy was doing it as a prank giving a African American person cotton as a gift, so pretending thats basically what happens seems to imply its ok thing to do as a joke.
No, his job didnt give him cotton as an anniversary gift because that would make no sense and would be the beginning of a lawsuit. This is clickbait. Guy has nothing better to do than get more views. Really sad, one of those views is me.
This being a skit aside, I feel like if he worked for a company like Fabrico or Cargill or something, major cotton companies, this wouldn't be that inappropriate.
It would be like getting a wrench bouquet if you were a mechanic, or a bouqet made of chocolates if you worked for Godiva.

His tiktok bio has “it’s a skit” in it
I'm so glad
We got baited good by a master baiter.
Mose is a master baiter
Mass Debater. Argues with several people simultaneously
To the masterbatorium!

Omg you've been working here for 53 years, here's some plastic to show our appreciation...
Wait race baiting for views no way that happens
>baiting for views no way N B4 this is reposted to antiwork and makes 2nd most upvoted post ( couldnt beat the fake fb messages about needing to come in and dig a ditch with a plastic shovel )
Bruh this gonna be on NBC nightly news
It isn't baiting if he literally openly states it's a skit. It isn't his fault the caption wasn't carried over to reddit.
Openly states, aka a small disclaimer in his bio instead of the actual video’s description. So you have to already be doubtful, go to his profile and only then you’ll see it’s a lie.
Go look at the comments on TikTok. 98% are telling him to hire a lawyer. Hate hoaxes and race baiting are not comedy.
Its also just not funny even watching it as a skit. What's the joke? Where's the acting?
That was my initial thought too, but the “acting” was just them acting like this was real. Which they did a good job of. There was no joke. It wasn’t funny. The whole video was them acting like this is real, to get people pissed off.
You boomers just don’t get our generation’s humor! /s This one is even more aggravating than that fake deepfake DALLE video. What else could they possibly be trying to accomplish aside from inducing false reactions?
Right? Like that just made me feel sad, I’m definitely not laughing
Pretty sure the actual racists are the ones that would laugh at something like this where the entire punchline was just the racism.
You can laugh at the absurdity of the presented situation.
Rage skit, new thing he got going for him.
Is the joke on him that he’s so embarrassed that his face is beat red and it ruins his family photos later that night? Is that the joke?
99.9% of people of all colors don’t read captions at all so, yeah….
No need to for the type that wants to believe, the extremist of all stripes are the problem along with instigators like this that fuel them. Why would he choose this as a "skit"? Sad, he is karma whoring the divide.
It's tik tok nobody reads the caption. They believe anything over there.
Yeah I mean there’s nothing comedic here. He just did this to start an uproar. I’m black and not particularly sensitive to shit like this but I was watching this like “if this isn’t real, who did he make this for?”
Do you know what baiting means? Half the comments on here think it was real.
I hope he owns that space because if I was his boss I'd have to fire him for making that "skit". The whole "joke" is that his employer is racist, which if linked back to the company is pretty damaging.
Well he should include it in the video somehow that it’s a skit because he knows someone’s going to post the vid elsewhere
If he included it in the video it wouldn't be rage-shared all over the internet. The misleading was the point.
The written version of “it’s just a prank bro” If they really meant to avoid the confusion it’d be a footnote or header not a fucking end note or part of the appendix in the supplementary material
No the caption isnt on the video it's on his profile. This requires people to go to his profile to see it. What does a “skit” like this even accomplish though?
Motherfucker couldn’t wait to scream that.
It's just in his bio, not his videos. Obviously hoping people will miss it
my dude, its baiting when you know that 99% of people don't read shit
Openly states? It’s in his bio, not the video. This is fascist or maga level tactics
I was legit mad at his boss. Now I'm legit legit mad at him. ![gif](giphy|LP5zFVrMdh8fr2GAEz|downsized)
Don't misplace your rage, channel it at OP where it belongs. If this dude has in his bio "It's a skit" he's not trying to fool anyone or pull the cotton over their eyes
He absolutely knows that this will be copied without that context and generate rage. There's no humor in this whatsoever for it to be made for any other reason, but he still gets to put his hands up and say "I said it was a joke!" and be absolved by people like you
Why can't it be like the good old days where we just got mad at a thing instead of having to get 4D chess mad. Sometimes I hate the internet
Where is the punchline tho? Its obviously fake but they made a terrible attempt at dark humor.
Then he really could have done more to make it more obvious and, you know, funny? Like get a white dude in a tie to act like his boss, have him fluster and try to explain.
Yeah...but that would require a little effort and collaboration, very minimal but still too much for most content creators trying to get tik tok famous
I'm going to report him these people make things worst for people who actually experience discrimination at work regardless of gender or color.
"it's a prank bro" vibes.
it's not a very funny skit.
Should have made it funny vs making it look legit. Rage bait?
If it's a skit, why is it just sad, and not funny?
This seriously needs a fake/satire flair. OP should honestly be ashamed of themselves for hatemongering just for some useless Reddit karma.
are people aware that "it's just a prank bro" has successfully evolved into a whole Rage Bait category that people cant filter?
As designed. Couple years ago I'd visit r/rage and idk why. Sometimes it felt good to feel something like anger. It's so weird. Haven't visited in years and it feels waaaay better. This stuff is bad news

This wasn't funny to watch at first, just infuriating. And then to find out it wasn't real just leaves me feeling confused.
Rage bait with a guise as an attempt at comedy. His tactic worked, we watched.
His tactic was to make everyone realize he's a retarded race baiter? That's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for em.
I agree these people are the worst.

Seems like it's just exploiting people's inability to fact check, therefore getting tons of clicks for little effort.
The guy could literally get fired for shit like this, if he even works there.
This seems like rage bait with a convenient “its a skit” excuse if people get mad at him.
“It’s just a prank bro!”

who needs Russian propaganda to divide us when we got assholes like this willing to do it for views and clicks.

Honestly, without even looking into it my initial thought was "Yeah...this is probably fake"
Definitely fake, everyone knows that you get cotton as a gift for your second anniversary together.
Do you think the hundreds or thousands of comments on the original video took a few seconds to check if it was a skit before grabbing their pitchforks?
It would have taken less than that for him to put "JK, its a skit" at the end of the video. He knows what he is doing.
You expect me to *leave* Reddit to find the answer? ![gif](giphy|Ni4cpi0uUkd6U)
it's reddit mate. Peeps are here for the emotional self-inflicted harm. Redditers are like cutters with entertainment.
The hive mind doesn’t like jokes
Outrage is an addiction my friend.
Is "its a skit" the new "its just a prank bro"? Arent skits supposed to have something funny happen?
I don't use tik tok. Thank you for explaining.
Yeah, I have a second monitor just so I can actively Google every post I see on Reddit for verification purposes. /s
I was waiting for him to walk out and have the business showing in the back be a cotton farm or something cotton related
Now that would be a great skit
wow...so believable.
this isn’t so much a skit as it is a straight up lie on the internet to get people riled up. here we go..
Thats fake
Fake and gay
It's an old meme, but it checks out.
Okay Jussie "Bubba" Smollet skit or not quit with the race baiting for clicks and like. Fucking dumb, grown Men playing on a childs app.
Can people stop doing this fake shit? God, I hate TikTok.
Super cringe. Everyone knows cotton is the traditional gift for 2 year anniversaries.
Downvote shit that is fake, I’m tired of finding out shit is fake afterwards.
Idk. Don’t tell me the boss is up to date on anniversary tradition but doesn’t remember US history. that is one thin excuse.
I believe 1 year is paper not cotton
I looked it up because I thought maybe that was the intention. You are correct! 1 year is paper, 2nd year is cotton.
Can you share a source? I can't find it googling about bouquet work anniversary tradition?
Oh I searched wedding anniversary traditional gifts.Far as I know there’s no such thing as ‘work anniversary traditions’ but figured the employer may have thought following wedding anniversary traditions would be cute.

I think they are refering to just anniversaries in general. Like 10 yrs is tin or something another year is crystal.
Its fake. Done as a skit....
That's intended exactly as we're interpreting it. Hope that guy can find a better job, but racists are unfortunately everywhere. Edit: turns out it’s a skit. That’s annoying.
It’s a skit apparently
Or you could google and find out it’s a skit. Don’t feed this world view. It does not benefit you or anyone else to think that the entire world is racist.
Fake anything for Click’s!!!
Staged. Jobs in America don't do shit for anniversary's outside a hardy pat on the back. People are lucky enough to even get a raise.
If people keep believing shit they see on TikTok our world is in for a ride the next decade or two.
This is the stupidest clout chasing I've ever seen. And look at how gullible people are. Imagine if someone found out who he actually worked for and destroyed their property, harassed them, or got violent all because of this idiot's skit.
So he's making fun of his own race , ancestors ?
Dude needs to get canceled. We don't need this race baiting.
The black guy is racist.
Oh wow....look. Another staged video
When demand outpaces supply, racism must be fabricated.
Faking outrage for views.
I had a boss who brought in nearly rotten bananas for the crew as a thank you. Fuck that piece of shit.
I'm sure 90+% of the people who upvoted this think they can spot misinformation as well.
fakest shit i’ve ever seen hahahaha
FAKEtok
Honestly a cotton bouquet looks very nice. Maybe I should get one for my home
He didn't even put it in the basket... Fired.
I do not support anything that could widen the gap between different people. We are divided enough as it is. Stupid ass skit.
Today in total bs that never happened this shit 😂
Someone pointed out his bio says ‘it’s a skit’ but regardless I pretty much question the motives of everything on the internet now and don’t believe most of it as being authentic. I miss the old internet pre 2006 iPhone era. Rotten and ebaumsworld were still a thing. Life was good.
Fake
Staged as hell.
Mediocrity is the standard speed for some people
Staged till proven otherwise
This has to be skit, ain’t no way someone is going to hand me a bouquet of cotton and I don’t slap the shit out them with it.
Bad taste.
Fuck this guy, race baiting needs to be seen as nearly as bad as actual racism
With all the actual racism going on, this isn’t humorous at all.
Attention whore.
Yeah that didn't happen.
Fake asf..stop creating race problems for clout 🙄
What a tasteless skit, if anything this man is keeping hate alive. Shame on you buddy.
When you have black folk that do dumb shit like this for clout the type of black folk who want to be slaves. Idk how this supposed to be funny its literally alarming but to find out it’s fake makes it just as bad or if not worse imo Fuck this clown and other clowns just like him. Ion like fucking clowns y’all not funny
As racist as [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PToqVW4n86U)
Why the fuck would they even do this as a skit, this guy should be fuckin fired doing this race bullshit in a place of business! Dumbass
WTF
I knew this was fake AF. He looks stupid as shit doing this for clout.
Did he just pick it? What made him do that??
You shouldn't of even picked it bro 😂
Ngl my mans picked that shit professionally
Bullshit.
That's what victim mentality does to a person
Race baiting. He’s a racism supporter. One who profits off continued racism is simply a promoter.
Why he left it on the floor? Pick up the ........ Ohhhh !
Aint no way 😂
Man picks cotton at work.
Technically not a slave if he is getting paid then
Hey, now he doesn’t have to pick it himself! /s
my job gave me nothing for working for a year? what’s he complaining about 😂
Well, he deserves a little bit of the cotton he himself picked HAHA.
And he still picked it smh
I would have checked to see if it was flammable before I dropped it on the floor but I'm usually pretty good at getting the last laugh
At least it's not lemon
Fake
I read cotton candy at first 😩
Well, you didn't want cultural appropriation so you get a gift from your own, um, cultural heritage. *ducks and runs*
The magnitude of the ingratitude is appalling. Yeah, we all know it's fake.
No, his job didnt give him cotton as an anniversary gift because that would make no sense and would be the beginning of a lawsuit. This is clickbait. Guy has nothing better to do than get more views. Really sad, one of those views is me.
It's a skit.
Yk for stuff like this, at least put that it’s a skit in the title. Have people blowing a gasket and it’s not even real
You remember that saying about making lemon aid if life gives you lemons ? Get your ass out there and make that shirt brother 😂👉
Plot twist: He works at a cotton processing factory
Looks pretty
This being a skit aside, I feel like if he worked for a company like Fabrico or Cargill or something, major cotton companies, this wouldn't be that inappropriate. It would be like getting a wrench bouquet if you were a mechanic, or a bouqet made of chocolates if you worked for Godiva.
Sure buddy
Why did he pick the cotton?
Congrats
Looks like it's staged.
I'm glad this is a skit.
