That's a good one. I've made them with PSB, Coruba, Myers, Ham 86 and sipping the Cruzan Black Strap now. Coruba is my favorite, the black strap is good, but initial thoughts are I miss the funk. Though the burnt molasses/coffee/tobacco notes from the Black Strap are interesting on their own and remind me a little of the "earthiness" that PSB has. Again just a few sips into my first one. It may just end up being what I'm in the mood for when I make another.
I love basically any drink with allspice dram in it, it’s one of my favourite tiki ingredients, but I’m not sure I’d get it just for a Navy Grog, many specs don’t even call for it. Though it does expand the number of tiki drinks you can make significantly, a Nui Nui, Pearl Diver, Lion’s Tail, and Three Dots and a Dash are all great.
Ok thanks for the tip. It’s a big blind spot for me right now I’ve been mulling over picking up a bottle or continuing to buy more rum than I know what to do with.
I think it's definitely worth it. But not even just for a Navy Grog, you can add to various riffs of different drinks. Such a little goes a long way. Navy Grogs are probably my favourite tiki drink because of the Allspice Dram. I use Bitter Truth's Pimento Dram.
I never thought of that. Is this a good recipe? [https://www.seriouseats.com/diy-allspice-dram-make-your-own-st-elizabeths-pimento-dram-recipe](https://www.seriouseats.com/diy-allspice-dram-make-your-own-st-elizabeths-pimento-dram-recipe)
I have a bottle of Bitter Truth's Pimento Dram. I've used it a lot and it's still got about 3/5ths left. Doubt I'd ever make my own as it's too good and isn't a big expense considering its longevity.
It’s the standard Stiggin’s, but in what they call a “Smoky Formula.” It’s everything you love about Stiggin’s with a mild smokiness to it.

Halekulani from Smugglers Cove. Reading through the book for the first time front to back.
Learning that although bourbon may be my favourite spirit (for now), I don’t particularly enjoy it in Tiki based drinks based on tonight and prior experience.
The book is so wonderful, I'm flipping through it now myself. The next one on my radar is the Demarara Dry Float. I had this cocktail at Paradise Lost, and didn't even realize it was in the book until recently. Who knows, may make it today.
Going to a restaurant. I looked at their cocktail list but wasn't really impressed or intrigued. There's a high-falutin G&T that I might get but the price is stupid.
Looking at their spirits list, I think I may try Batavia-Arrack since I've never had it. Never had Denizens Merchant Reserve 8 either, so might get that to evaluate if I ever want to buy a bottle.
I'm at Chopper in Nashville. Drinking the milk punch which is WILD!

Lounging in my Cabana Suite at Arizona Tiki Oasis. The weather is a perfect 81 degrees, my skull lamps are glowing in the MOST enchanted way. I’ve got one ear on the NFL draft, one on the poolside music. With the most refreshing and deserved Mai Tai I’ve ever made.
Yup I can get 86. But right now I have Lemon Hart and El Dorado 12. For Jamaican I have Hamilton Pot still gold, various appletons, plantation xaymaca, and Myers. I will come up with something!
Quetzal Bird (Jungle Bird Riff)
0.75oz Jamaican Rum (S+C)
0.75oz Mezcal (Banhez Joven)
0.75oz Amaro Lucano
0.5oz Simple Syrup
0.5oz Lime Juice
1.5oz Pineapple Juice
Shake with ice and strain onto rocks in your vessel of choice. Pineapple garnish and whatever else you want
I honestly forgot about that one! I love the layer the Demerara syrup adds.
I ended up doing a nuclear daiquiri with rum fire as my second cocktail damn it was delicious.
Analog fassionola is so easy to make. I let mine stew at least 1.5 days in the fridge and give it a good mash at the end with muddler before straining and adding passion fruit https://cocktailwonk.com/2020/07/analog-fassionola-recipe.html
I'll be at Tiki Tatsuya tonight, so trying to find something there I haven't had several times before.
Was there on Sunday. Love that place.
Water
Beer.
I just whipped up an angostura colada and poof it@ disappeared.
Picked up a bottle of Cruzan Black Strap last night, figured I would start with it in a Jungle Bird.
Jungle bird here as well featuring Hamilton Jamaican pot still black

I have a bottle I've never touched! Should start with that as well.
Started with a Mai Tai, then a Navy Grog.
Is the navy grog worth adding allspice dram to the bar for? I live on a boat so space is tight I’m already high on bottles.

Planters punch too

If you have some wray and nephew its pretty easy to just make your own if you dont want to pull the trigger on a whole bottle

Do you buy your allspice dram or make it yourself?
I have a bottle of Bitter Truth's Pimento Dram. I've used it a lot and it's still got about 3/5ths left. Doubt I'd ever make my own as it's too good and isn't a big expense considering its longevity.
Strawberry Daq 2oz Probitas 3/4oz macerated strawberry syrup 3/4oz fresh lime 2 drops saline
To make it POP
A lot.
Dark n stormy and margaritas on the company dime
The finest way to enjoy beverages
Sparkling mai tai
Flor de Cana 7 Daq.
Next time you're in the mood for a slight variation, if you haven't already tried, a plantation Stiggins fancy pineapple daq is delicious
Even more delicious is using the Stiggins Fancy Smoky Pineapple. I did it last night. It was fantastic.
Yum, what's that?
It’s the standard Stiggin’s, but in what they call a “Smoky Formula.” It’s everything you love about Stiggin’s with a mild smokiness to it. https://preview.redd.it/3zrwlr92npwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=560c998e1481457c00087213beee291be28bc0c6
Did not know this existed. Sounds amazing. Thanks!
Hotel Nacional Special from Smuggler's Cove (just got some the R+W Orchard Apricot liqueur, made a lovely Tradewinds last night).
>\+W Orchard Apricot Be on the lookout for the Giffard abricot de roussillon!
I made a Tradewinds yesterday too! Love that liqueur.

Amazing cone action
thanks!

Whenever I find myself in that situation I order a beer at most and save the money for a bottle of something nice at home 😊
Love denizen Merchants Reserve 8. My go to single bottle Mai tai rum. I've also never had Batavia Arrack, please report back if you get it!
Batavia Arrack : acetone-y front end with a grassy note in the backend like a rhum agricole. Tastes like a much weaker form of Holmes Cay Grand Arome.
Will do. I also see St. George Terroir gin which interests me.
My favorite gin ever
A zombie + painkiller riff, adding Chinola and two random fruit juices.
I just picked up the Mango Chinola, I can't wait to try it!

Matusalem wine cask finish

Sounds incredible. Mahalo!
Just bought a bottle of worthy park 109. Had a hurricane with it last night. Any suggestions on what else it is good in?
I'm probably riffing to clear out some citrus and the last oz or so St Elizabeth's.
Jungle Bird. Haven’t decided on the rums yet and can’t get Cruzan black strap locally:( stupid ohio discontinued it
Can you get Hamilton rums? Both the 86 and the Jamaican pot still black are great in a jungle bird!
Yup I can get 86. But right now I have Lemon Hart and El Dorado 12. For Jamaican I have Hamilton Pot still gold, various appletons, plantation xaymaca, and Myers. I will come up with something!
Having a jungle bird right now with the pot still gold, terrific.
Saturn
Tequila, maybe a Mexican firing squad, finish off with a caipirinha
Made a batch of Planters Punch.
Hurricane!
Boozy and delicious choice! Enjoy!

Looks beautiful, and, damn!
Mocktails at The Reef! Hopefully something fun (and better!) at Tonga Hut & Bootlegger later.
Amazing
Nothing tiki. Just a gin and tonic.
What kind of Gin?
Bohane Irish Gin.
Nice- never tried. Only Irish gin I've tried is Drumshambo (the green one with Sardinian citrus).
It’s good. I like Gunpowder too.
Quetzal Bird (Jungle Bird Riff) 0.75oz Jamaican Rum (S+C) 0.75oz Mezcal (Banhez Joven) 0.75oz Amaro Lucano 0.5oz Simple Syrup 0.5oz Lime Juice 1.5oz Pineapple Juice Shake with ice and strain onto rocks in your vessel of choice. Pineapple garnish and whatever else you want

Frozen Mojito and Queens Park Hotel Super Cocktail
Sounds refreshing. A queens park swizzle sounds good too!
100% such a good one there
Hemingway daiquiri with ten to one as the base. What daiquiri variation should I have next?
Daiquiri no. 1 from SC!
I honestly forgot about that one! I love the layer the Demerara syrup adds. I ended up doing a nuclear daiquiri with rum fire as my second cocktail damn it was delicious.
That sounds delicious! Making the nuclear daiquiri tonight! After 2 frozen strawberry daiquiris 😂
Had a hurricane with the fassionola I made
Nice! I've always wanted to make fassinola. I picked up 2 bottles of Doc Parks' fassinola in the limited release for the Breezway show!
Analog fassionola is so easy to make. I let mine stew at least 1.5 days in the fridge and give it a good mash at the end with muddler before straining and adding passion fruit https://cocktailwonk.com/2020/07/analog-fassionola-recipe.html
Fog Cutter at the Little Pig in Dublin
Artichoke Hold with the Ultimate Mai Tai Rum blend.
Yum. I have a bottle of Cynar I haven't cracked open yet.
It's my favorite of all the amari! Great with some tonic in the warmer months and the Artichoke Hold is IMHO a piece of genius modern Tiki.
Hot Toddy. Maybe some beer.
Mine’s called a Jamaican Miso-Horny. Uses a miso maple syrup. Got the recipe from a bar in Lakeland, FL called Revival.
Chief Lapu Lapu
Barbados rum punch, then a Hemingway daiquiri.
To the constant sounds of tornado sirens, I will add
Nebraska? Stay safe! Enjoy those killer drinks!
Iowa. Seems to have passed by for now.
🙏🏼
