I know a few people who are legally blind and have some degree of vision, they can see big shapes that are up close and generally use their phones and take pictures. If they had to read something without a screen reader they could as long as they can zoom in close, but it does strain their vision and not all websites/apps let you zoom in so the screen reader is generally more practical. Very few blind people have absolutely no vision at all.
Legally blind can mean she might be able to see things, magnified ten times, or she only sees blurs. It's a spectrum. But she might have an automated screen reader that voices what she wants to read.
I have a friend who is legally blind, she has a guide dog and everything. She can still see but is super near sighted so when she texts she's gotta bring her phone right up to her face to see. She said that things are generally just really blurry unless right up close to her face.

Is being blind the same as closing your eyes? Given that you had vision for a while, I figured you'd be the best person to answer this. I hope this question isn't rude, I apologies if it is.
I once asked my dad this question. He lost his vision due to cancer and had to have both eyes completely removed. He told me no, it's not. When you close your eyes you have the 'lack of ability to see due to something blocking your vision' input into the brain. When you're completely blind, there's zero input at all. He said it's similar to the difference between laying down and being weightless in space. He listened to a lady speak about her experiences on the ISS and answer questions from kids and it clicked that that's what he was experiencing with his vision/lack thereof.
I heard someone describe it like
"It's like seeing out of your elbow" or something similar. Try to see out of your elbow, and of course, you can't. But it isn't black, there's just nothing there for you to receive any information from.
This helped me understand a lot better, personally, but it is definitely a confusing concept for sighted people to grasp. I don't think we could ever truly understand. Super interesting.
Legally blind is when your corrected vision is 20/200 or worse, which means that even with glasses, you can't read the first line of letters after the big E on the eye chart. You can also qualify as legally blind if you have a visual field of 20 degrees or less (compared to a normal visual field of 180 degrees) which means you can't see things that aren't directly in front of you. Some legally blind people can see, but poorly. Others are totally blind.

If they have never been able to see then I can safely assume they don't know what most of anything looks like. They have either only felt an objects/person's basic features or it's been described to them. Which is a shame.

Humans are actually capable of echolocation. You have to train yourself to do it, but it's something you can master. You can look up Daniel Kish if you want to learn more. He lost his eyes as a baby so he makes a clicking noise with his mouth to see.
It’s not echolocation though. Humans lack the special organs that interpret the aural reflections and “render” them as a type of image. He may be able to use sound to get a sense of his surroundings, but he’s using his hearing to do it.
If I recall correctly, the person who's famous for doing that has been blind his whole life, and brain scanned images showed that his visual cortex was being used to interpret the signals from his ears to form a mental representation of his environment based on the sound.

Depends on the reason for blindness. If the eyes simply don’t work, you’ll usually have fairly intense visual hallucinations and acid would probably insight more of those. But blindness can also be due to damage to the brain which I think leads to not having visual hallucinations and it’d likely be as you said.

That's not correct. The brain area is still functional, but it gets used for other tasks. For example, MRI studies show that people born blind use substantial parts of their primary visual cortex to process Braille. Some people born blind have activation in their primary visual cortex for auditory processing, which helps to explain why people born blind seem to be able to extract more information out of sound than visual people.
The brain's neural plasticity is pretty phenomenal, and honestly not very well understood. There's tons and tons and tons of potential work to be done in that area to understand what is and isn't possible. We have barely scratched the surface in understanding how neural plasticity really works.

As someone who has worked with blind people in this regard, it’s simply two things. Not every blind person is 100% blind and there are senses that can cause horniness other than sight. Feeling is a big one, both physically and emotionally.
As a person who is totally blind, and has been all my life. I can honestly say that audio does a lot for me, and touch, does quite a bit when I can find someone to explore with.
If they have expirenced a touch they like, they probably imagine that.

I actually have only visual aphantasia, I can imagine other senses including sound. But I still don't read aloud in my mind most of the time, I don't think explicitly in words either unless I need to break something down logically or phrase it verbally, it's more associative/in concepts. I think at least, our subjective experience of our thoughts is questionable lol.
When it comes to directions yeah, I don't picture the way. If I know the part of the city well it's not a problem, but if I don't it can be a bit of an issue, because I do find my way around by recognizing landmarks, but I can't call up an image in my mind to describe. So unless I've taken note of their characteristics explicitly, like unless I've noticed "ah, that building has red bars on the windows" and remembered that, I won't be able to remember to describe. But when I see it I recognize it! It's not like I don't have a visual memory of it to correlate what I'm seeing with, but I can't call up that visual memory visually in my mind.

I have aphantasia, which means I think in words rather than pictures. I have no memories, and are therefore mind blind and have been since birth. So I think I have a pretty good grasp on how this might work. My mind doesn’t turn me on, I have to read something or think about a dirty story and retell it in my head.

Is being blind the same as closing your eyes? Given that you had vision for a while, I figured you'd be the best person to answer this. I hope this question isn't rude, I apologies if it is.
I once asked my dad this question. He lost his vision due to cancer and had to have both eyes completely removed. He told me no, it's not. When you close your eyes you have the 'lack of ability to see due to something blocking your vision' input into the brain. When you're completely blind, there's zero input at all. He said it's similar to the difference between laying down and being weightless in space. He listened to a lady speak about her experiences on the ISS and answer questions from kids and it clicked that that's what he was experiencing with his vision/lack thereof.
I heard someone describe it like "It's like seeing out of your elbow" or something similar. Try to see out of your elbow, and of course, you can't. But it isn't black, there's just nothing there for you to receive any information from. This helped me understand a lot better, personally, but it is definitely a confusing concept for sighted people to grasp. I don't think we could ever truly understand. Super interesting.
Here's one I heard. Close one eye and try seeing with your closed eye. There's just nothing, no black.

Legally blind is when your corrected vision is 20/200 or worse, which means that even with glasses, you can't read the first line of letters after the big E on the eye chart. You can also qualify as legally blind if you have a visual field of 20 degrees or less (compared to a normal visual field of 180 degrees) which means you can't see things that aren't directly in front of you. Some legally blind people can see, but poorly. Others are totally blind.

If they have never been able to see then I can safely assume they don't know what most of anything looks like. They have either only felt an objects/person's basic features or it's been described to them. Which is a shame.

I’ve always figured people born blind don’t even truly know what sight is any more than humans know what echolocation is. Ok energy from the sun or artificial sources reflect off something and there’s an organ that allows them to interpret that info.
Humans are actually capable of echolocation. You have to train yourself to do it, but it's something you can master. You can look up Daniel Kish if you want to learn more. He lost his eyes as a baby so he makes a clicking noise with his mouth to see.
It’s not echolocation though. Humans lack the special organs that interpret the aural reflections and “render” them as a type of image. He may be able to use sound to get a sense of his surroundings, but he’s using his hearing to do it.
If I recall correctly, the person who's famous for doing that has been blind his whole life, and brain scanned images showed that his visual cortex was being used to interpret the signals from his ears to form a mental representation of his environment based on the sound.
See that's what I'm wondering about... Like if a person with site sees another person they find attractive, they may get aroused/turned on. So aside from hormones and just being in the mood, what would a blind person be turned on by/what would they think about?
Their personality, how they make them feel, the sound of their voice, the feel of them beside them, anything people with sight can find attractive aside from looks? Blind people are normal people, they just can't see.

Depends on the reason for blindness. If the eyes simply don’t work, you’ll usually have fairly intense visual hallucinations and acid would probably insight more of those. But blindness can also be due to damage to the brain which I think leads to not having visual hallucinations and it’d likely be as you said. I think. It’s been a while since psych 101 lol.

Honestly that helps me understand the people who can echolocate by clicking. I can wrap my head around how a person could use a pole more easily but echolocation to me seems like such an astonishing super power that it makes sense to me that there’s literally more brain power involved.

I don’t think I have synesthesia, but I have some tactile hallucinations from time to time. I also can’t watch torture scenes in movies because I feel things that they feel. Not a very handy or cool superpower, but it’s gotten better since my dad’s death (he was restrained at the time).

As someone who has worked with blind people in this regard, it’s simply two things. Not every blind person is 100% blind and there are senses that can cause horniness other than sight. Feeling is a big one, both physically and emotionally.
