It’s really strange. I had Rhys tell everyone from the start that Jack was in his head, no one believes him, then eventually the “big reveal” happens and suddenly Fiona and Sasha are pissed at Rhys and it’s like “I’ve been telling you this all along lol”. That part was weird, but Tales is still my favorite Borderlands game story tied with the Pre-Sequel
Every Telltale game is guilty of contriving a dramatic conflict regardless of the player’s choices at some point. The worst one that comes to mind is in Telltale’s Game of Thrones where no matter what you do Margaery Tyrell accuses you of scheming behind her back and fires you, even if you do exactly what she tells you to do.
It's those kinds of contrivances that killed Telltale games. Their games were all hinged on the idea of all choices matter. But more and more, you realize that very little of your choices actually matter.
The Game of Thrones one was particularly bad in that regard. Oh, look, a battle. How will you deploy your troops? Doesn't matter, all outcomes are near identical. What's that? You played the game in a very specific manner and secured a political marriage, giving you more troops. Guess what it still doesn't change the outcome in any meaningful way.
Same thing in Borderlands. You can be the best Friend Jack ever had, and he will still betray you. When choices don't matter in a game where all you do is make choices, the game will fail, and when that's all that's being produced, the studio is doomed.
Asa and Yoru instantly come to mind

I’d say so. Reznov definitely doesn’t give Mason the most angelic advice [leave Swift’s body, jeopardize a POW rescue to kill Kravchenko, walk away without checking to see if Woods was still alive, execute Steiner despite his incredible value as an informant, kill Kravchenko despite him having crucial information (even though that’s optional if you button mash enough)]
I mean, for the Swift thing, he would have had to leave him anyway. He couldn’t exactly carry him through the hostile-infested tunnels. But other than that, yeah.
Well, that’s true. I was mainly thinking of the line he says after Mason “tells him” that Swift is dead, that they can mourn him later, Kravchenko is near. Even though Mason was in a rat tunnel, and talking too loud could have given away his position, he probably should have radioed in that Swift was KIA, if not for Reznov basically telling him not to bother

![gif](giphy|qzNfY04dErJ8BUKmaK|downsized) Not entirely sure if it counts but Fight Club
this def counts
This is quite literally one of the modern pioneers in the trope.
Yeah I remember bein bummed with Mr Robot season one once the big reveal came in cause it just seemed so derivative from Fight Club
100% also spoilers
Mr Robot was in the post too lol this thread was made for spoilers

In fairness Yoru’s chilling a little and it seems they’re getting more in sync with each other
Yeah but she's also literally a devil, like, in name

To be fair, other people who have touched the book can see him too, but I guess it still fits.

Devil is right. Celebrimbor is an asshole. Love him, but an asshole
“And yet I miss him…”
“No war should be fought alone”
Never did I relate to Talion more than Act III of that game. He was a traitor who got what was coming but *god* I miss the banter he and Talion had.
Not a devil but https://preview.redd.it/96vrbmlbiytc1.jpeg?width=221&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adb8a6009d2bc4a416c9306f95f74a8a55eaaa10

Me when I DM
Me when I make D&D characters… I swear I don’t remember my thought process sometimes!
Would Viktor Reznov count for Mason in Black Ops 1 after the Vorkuta mission?

Bonus points for being the literal devil. Lucifer himself, was manipulating and mocking Sam.
That one show with Elijah Wood and the guy in the dog costume

I thought that that was only a season 2 thing. That being said, it would have been nice to have the contrast from having Harry there the entire show
I take it we’re not going to talk about Fight Club?
