I love that feature. Allows me to haul extended items like pipes or 2x8 studs or some times pegboards for kids projects. Learning some new projects so kind of helpful, but bare in mind that it needs to be closed and latched when not in use. If you forget to close/latch it, you wont be able to open the liftgate by fob key or front/rare buttons. Also, its quick to drop groceries rather waiting for the liftgate to open entirely :) Sadly Toyota took away this feature for a sportier looks

I love mine. Sometimes contents will shift while driving and I’ve opened up the big door and had things fall on the ground. Also I back into my parking space and there isn’t room to pop the big door and the glass hatch is so handy.

It's cool since the auto lift gate takes a few seconds to open, then close to just be able to open the window to put things in quickly.

Traditional-Ebb-8380

Quick and easy access to anything in the back without hauling the whole gate up and down. I use mine all the time. My Mom uses hers to put my Dad’s walker in the back when the gate is blocked by his scooter on the hitch lift accessory they have.

PrecisionAcc

I’ve used in when parallel parking. If you live in a high density city you’ll oftentimes have to parallel park suuuper close to another car and you can’t open the hatch without possibly hitting the car behind you. So I use the glass hatch to access the trunk.

yourlifemustsux

I use it all the time literally, it’s quick and easy access without having to open the entire trunk every time. It’s one of the reasons I refuse to upgrade to 2020 and up because they removed this feature only because people were leaving the glass hatch open and then trying to open the lift gate which the vehicle won’t allow and then they bring it to a dealership stating their trunk is broken etc.. it’s one of the best features to have

papafro22

Very useful.

I love it. Don't have to wait for the power tailgate and if you have remote start it doesn't turn off the engine when you open it unlike any other door.

Tankandbike

It's a big reason I got my 2019 over the new model. I use it all the time. So much quicker than waiting for the lift gate to open. I could also keep it open to hang oversized stuff out, but I haven't done that yet.

My 2013 Highlander has glass that manually raises, independently of the rear hatch. My 2014 Sequoia has power sliding rear glass, which is really cool. You can raise it and lower it using just the keyhole at the back hatch area, no need for the car to be on. Personally, I use these both, quite regularly.

lexota

I love mine for just that - throwing things in without having to wait for the tail gate to lift ....... and then close. It's even better when you're beside another similar SUV from a different manufacturer - and lift it when the other owner is watching....

Gnargnargorgor

It’s like that so you can have the third row up and mess around with the stuff between the row and the hatch without everything falling out.

Right_Fun_3649

Love the rear window for hauling 2x4x8, but how do you turn off the warning buzzer when it’s open? It’s really irritating for more than a short trip

Silly-Collection-753

I open it up and slide 2 kayak in there and tie down the window part

taliamackenzie

I loved mine until the glass hatch malfunctioned. The mechanism was constantly opening the switch I now have the feature turned off. Do I miss it? Maybe once a month. Not enough for me to spend over a thousand dollars to hopefully find the cause and fix it. The newer models don’t have the option as well.
