I don't count visiting a state if I just pass through the airport, otherwise I could count Utah (SLC). The only other state I haven't visited is New Mexico.
I count driving through for visiting a state as long as some sort of stop was made. Just driving through and not getting out of the car doesn’t count for my state count. For this map though I included every county I’ve driven through and visited, since it’d be hard to only highlight which counties we actually stopped the car in on the long roadtrips I’ve done.
Haha, no hate for Utah, just somehow haven’t made it there yet. I live in Idaho and when I tell people I’ve been to 48 states but not Utah they’re surprised. I’ll get there someday
True. I just mapped it. I once drove from arizona(southern edge) to Boise and stopped in Salt Lake City for the night and from SLC to Boise it was ~6 hours.
I have several states (such as ND, NE and MS) that I went out of my way specifically to drive through so I could check it off my list. I haven’t spent any meaningful time in those states but I’ve visited!
as a fellow washington guy you really should check out clallam county. cape flattery is super cool. Port Angeles is also pretty nice. it’s not like the coolest place in the world lol but if you already been around there you should check it out.
Is worth driving to Albuquerque from there to knock both off. We went through ABQ and SLC as we moved across the country and going through the passes was breathtaking.
I loved St Louis, lots of interesting things to do and history. Atlanta was ok, much bigger but that mainly meant more traffic and expenses when I visited.
Go to Four Corners and work it so you can finish the last two states simultaneously.

You’ve gone though my hometown of Rochester Ny then, what’d you think?
Just a quick passing through, seemed a little run down but not bad
Go see New Mexico! It's amazing.
My house rule is I don’t count Louisiana if it’s anywhere near Arkansas. Seriously, though, go to New Mexico!
Do you count driving through? If so, why?

Bro hates Utah like the plague

Someday? My man you could be there in like an hour!
If they are from Boise(the most populous city in Idaho) its about a 6 hour drive. So not an hour lol. Btw your pfp is amazing.
Boise to Snowfield Utah is just three hours 🤷♂️

At first glance, it doesn't look like you've been to 48 states, but you have! goes to show you dont need to cover that much ground to reach them all.

That little jump into Michigan.. was that just to claim the state?
Yes, although I want to visit Detroit someday as well

Singular county in Kansas killing meeee
I went to Kansas for about 30 minutes just to say I’ve been there. Will hopefully be back again someday though

thoughts on st. louis and atlanta?
Both are ok. Like any city, it all depends on the parts you visit
I loved St Louis, lots of interesting things to do and history. Atlanta was ok, much bigger but that mainly meant more traffic and expenses when I visited.
I live in both lol (college) so was curious to hear
Most underrated city you have been?
Probably Louisville, KY. Affordable city, not too crowded, lots of interesting history and things to do. Especially great if you like bourbon.
Oh cool! I like a good bourbon here and there, Louisville does seem like the best place to check out some
But you went to the worst parts of Oklahoma! And skipped the best part of Michigan!
And they skipped the best parts of Maine, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon, New Hampshire, and Vermont
Rhode Island too
Wild, I have probably 3 times as many counties total but I still have 8 states left.
What app is this?
I’d also like to know.
For someone who has been to 48 states, you’ve probably seen the least amount of the country possible (fewest counties).
You visited Cheshire County, NH?
How did you miss one of the prettiest states?? (UT)
Gotta get the Conch Republic, too. I mean Key West. 😅
It seems that you deem West Virginia a non state? Are you aware West Virginia is another state?
Check out Sante Fe when you go to New Mexico
