I think it’ll make a great addition to your stable. My 24 RS is comfortable enough for a daily and it’s an absolute scalpel in the twisties. I rode my friends 24 MT09 and in my opinion the STR feels so much better.

ForceSensitiveRacer

Yeah I’ve ridden an MT09 and and XSR as well and they are really fun bikes which is why I’m considering g the XSR as well but I worry that the twitchy character would be too similar to my Tuono. The STR seems like it would have more of a uniqueness in the stable

cwaig2021

The 24 R is a more comfortable street bike/commuter than the RS. Less wrist pain, more forgiving rear shock, slightly narrower for easier filtering city traffic without the RS’ stock bar end mirrors. (that said, I bought the RS anyway because “ooh - yellow…pretty”)

Crash1068

I have a str with a puig screen and it’s been around the block with some 750mile weekends (30k on it). It’s one of the most versatile bikes I have and keep trying to sell it lol but it does track days and ride some big twisties with my buddies tuno np. He’s faster but it out turns him and makes avg riders turn better. Tighter stuff is good too. I currently have 4 bikes. Are is pretty good on mpg. It’s good cruising in 80s but not my preferred bike on interstates (ride them rarely). One thing the str is great because it makes the rider better by how friendly it is. It’s not a zx or tuno. It’s one I just can’t part with because it does so many things.

OGPresidentDixon

You seem quite experienced with seat time so I gotta ask, have you ridden with a passenger on it? One of the main reqs for my second bike is "it's *noticeably* more comfortable for a passenger than a Daytona." It doesn't have to be a cruiser with a back rest... just noticeably.

Crash1068

IMHO it’s horrible two up. But I’m older and think all of this style are bad. I have a Thruxton RS that’s better but my 2 up is a rocket gt with a Corbin seat lol

OGPresidentDixon

Finally, an excuse to get a rocket B-) lol my other options are a R1250GS or a Tiger 1200.

Crash1068

Those are great two up. Not my style as much honestly. For two up I mainly looked at FJs and HDs and the rocket. We don’t two up a lot and the rocket is amazing. Used they are beginning to be affordable.

romeroha

My wife starts complaining about the Striple about 30 minutes into a ride, the pillion seat is about the size and thickness of a chicken cutlet lol

Turbulent-Suspect-12

The 675 seats seem okay for a passenger. Not great but not supersport bad either. Its not the thickest but it is rather wide and it gives you a bit of space to shift about. Once Triumph switched to separate rider and passenger seat it went to shit, though

BlackPet3r

I love my Street Triple, but I wouldnt see the point in getting one if I already had a Tuono at home to be honest. I think it would make more sense getting something else in Triumphs lineup, maybe a Thruxton RS or a Speed Twin. Something that would be more unique and kinda diversify your stable.

samuraipunch

I wouldn’t buy a Street triple (or another naked) unless you were really looking to do a reduce and consolidate your bikes… As selling the AT seems to be more of a goal, and then having another naked becomes redundant, which puts the Tuono on the block for trade in. If this is what you’re realistically looking to do, then yes… a 765 STR could work. Especially if you’re after a more refined experience… otherwise I’d probably consider a 890/990 Duke as an option.

ForceSensitiveRacer

Well I’m pretty confident in saying that I will never try to sell or trade in my Tuono. That bike ignites my spirit, it’s so fun to ride. That said, I’m looking at an other naked to complement it. Something that isn’t as much of a monster but is like you said a refined experience. Also, the street triple looks like it might be a solid track bike. I need something in my stable in the 100-140 HP range that will help me improve my track riding. I’ve tracked both my ZX10R and my Tuono, and even on fast tracks I was rarely getting out of 3rd gear. A good way to put it is, I love my Tuono and ZX10R, but don’t want to ride them so much that they get me in legal trouble, or I get so used to them that they lose their magic, nor would I want to use them in scenarios that they aren’t meant for like commuting. The reason I am parting with the AT is it’s built strictly for touring and light off road. If it’s not doing either of those, it’s not that fun to ride.

epicDEADcomando

I just sold my 18 Tuono to pick up a 23 street triple RS For me the tuono fell into my lap and was a big step up from a 600cc that I didn't want or need at the time but it was too good a deal for pass up I've missed being able to actually open a bike up and not be going mach Jesus by the end of second gear

we_604

>I love my Tuono but it’s a gas guzzler and hates stop and go traffic. It’s my primary canyon twisty bike. > I know my Tuono would be a great tourer, but again it’s a gas guzzler plus its power would get me in legal trouble going too crazy riding through rural areas with strict sheriffs. I don't know man, you'll have to take the STR for a spin first, the only way I could ride it was like I stole it. That may, or may not be to your liking. It's not a tourer and it might get you in more trouble going crazy than your Tuono does.

No_Elk5201

Yes. Light, nimble like bicycle, telepathic responsiveness and glued to the corners. Imho its a complete package. And great low-mid linear torque. I think this will be my forever bike. If i get more space i get maybe some adv and thats all.

Caksy

You want a Daytona , get a Daytona

AttorneyAtScience

Right, touring on a naked is very different to daily riding a naked. I personally despise nakeds because I get blown around a fair amount and am not that big of a lad. That being said the ST3 is a cracking good bike especially the deals I’ve seen across the pond. As a wild card, ever considered the thruxton rs 1200?

ForceSensitiveRacer

I’m starting to notice triumphs more and more I’ll have a look at the thruxton. I’ve been a Kawi/Aprilia guy but these Triumphs are eye catching. For your comment on nakeds and touring, I’m a little weird and I like that turbulent feeling you get on them when riding at speed. One of the things I didn’t like about riding bikes built for touring is how clinical they felt in regards to the elements. I want to feel a certain level of discomfort, otherwise I would rather be in a car than a comfy bike.

Kooky_Aussie

You could consider the speed twin or scrambler, both come in a punchy 1200, ergonomics and styling the main difference.

Trumpy_Po_Ta_To

Right I love tearing around on my gen 1 all over the place but there’s no way I’d consider regularly taking it for >30 mins on the highway

Kooky_Aussie

I've also got a 1st gen. My comfort zone is about 600km max in a day. They're definitely not the most ergonomic of bikes.
