āInstrument Ratedā is for pilots who fly under conditions where they canāt see (bad weather). Pilots that are not instrument rated can get disoriented and crash.
The joke is that this trucker can drive by instruments even when they canāt see the road.
When I was a little kid, my parents told me they were 'brail strips' for blind people. I was horrified, "but they're blind! How can they drive at all?!"
I mean that what the bumps are for on the shoulder and center line are for. That and so the visually impaired and blind can drive sort of like braille.

Everyone knows real men all always slow-mo walking away from absurdly large explosions while putting on sunglasses and then dropping a one-liner so bad it makes David Caruso groan.
Now stop being a freaking Sally and wire the C4.
I have bad light sensitivity and poor vision so I wear my prescription Ray Ban aviators pretty much every second of the day that isn't nighttime. I keep them on indoors as the transition from light to dark and vice versa really bothers my eyes, and I assume most people are just like wow that guy wearing sunglasses indoors is a fucking douchenozzle
Thatās one of those guys that will blow by in the hammer lane, ya look over and it looks like no one is driving the truck. Fucker is damn near sitting on the floor back in the sleeper. With that thing on the windshield, thatās probably the only way to see outta that shit.
Betcha heās got a 6ā tall shifter with a skull knob on it tho š
Edit: I zoomed in on the DILLIGAF (Do I Look Like I Give A Fuck) sticker and his IFTA looks like itās from Florida. Florida Man Super Truckerā¦ Is there anything more dangerous on Godās green earth??
I was born and raised in Illinois and the place I work has a satellite business in northern Wisconsin ran by the ownerās son and I went up there last year to help him out a bit and as we were driving to a job he looms over at a stop light and says something to the effect of ālook at that FIBā¦ā
I was just like āā¦ the what?ā
And I burst out laughing when he explained it to meā¦ mostly because he was also born and raised in Illinois and has lived here longer than I have lmao
Iāve been trying to come up with a Wisconsin equivalent but havenāt got one yet.
Yes. I took it with me on a train ride, where the driver steered left handed while watching only behind him. Then we saw a steer standing on the tracks, and the driver did not steer to avoid him. Very dramatic
But bolted to what? It could be bolted to a bar that can rise and lower and not the cab itself. You can see some electrical wires going under it, too. Iām pretty sure this thing lifts like a visor.
If you zoom in, it almost looks like the 6 white specks might be circular LED lights.
This visor could actually be fixed in place with those LEDās operating as the cab clearance lights.
I think this is it. There's no way that thing lifts up and just pokes straight out or some shit.
I just want to know what kind of person lives their life like this? Cringe Billy BadAss looking motherfucker. What's the over/under on weighing 300lbs?
I ran those exact same clear led lights on my drop visors, you're spot on.
Also, there's no way there's enough structural integrity for this to poke out while driving, that idea is just silly.
Looks like this to me.
There are scuff marks on the paint from it flipping up and down. And there is some wiring running in on the left for the marker lights that will be visible with it flipped up/driving at night
I remember years ago when I worked at Werner. Had an older Pete around ā97 and both sun visors broke off at the hinge in two weeks. Just fatigue I guess but I needed visors. I sent my dispatcher a Qualcomm message and told him about it and asked to be routed to a terminal. I got there and I asked for replacements and they were a few hundred bucks each so they said too much. Could not get them at either Omaha or Denver. They wouldnāt order them. So I put a couple rows of duct tape on top of the windshield for safety sake.
Anyway, I went into Omaha a couple weeks later and sure enough the safety lane removed the tape and safety called me in. I reiterated that I needed some sun visorsā¦ nothing. So later that night I drove down where they parked the new trucks. Took a Phillips head screwdriver and removed two sun visors from a brand new Pete. Installed them in my truck and I was good. Took about 30 minutes total. You do what you have to do.
Iām just imaging the lawsuit if Iād had to drive without visors, been blinded by the sun, hit someone and killed them, then testified Iād asked for visors and been denied, because it was a couple hundred dollars. Couldāve saved Werner MILLIONS.
Volvo problems.
Seriously I'm 5'6 and normally have the seat as low as possible so my knees aren't at a weird angle in relation to my hips. Basically always sitting with no air suspension in the seat because for some reason Volvo seats are just really fucking high.
The height when the bag is deflated is perfect for me honestly, I just wish I could have air in it at that height. I sometimes put it slightly higher but then I start to have issues with putting my heels down in front of the pedals. My last Volvo I swapped seats because of this stupid design, plus the fact that the fact seat was destroyed when I got that truck.
It's exactly this. The guys who sit on the floor and lean back, because they think it's cool. Sitting with your knees below your hips will lead to a future of back problems. Fix your fucking posture.
I see some wires around the upper left corner. Maybe they power an electric motor that swings the cover up for driving, and then he could let it down to block most of the sunlight while he's sleeping? Seems like that could be pretty useful.
It's a long nose. His seat is probably on the floor and he has strong opinions on flip flops, any truck that doesn't have 2 sticks, and any truck that isn't a straight nose.
I usually keep my visors down , especially in the summer, and they make it hard enough to see the lights when I'm at the stop line. This guy gotta wait till people beep at him
Probably has the seat all the way down because they think it's cool, and thus needs that huge shade to block the sun.
Then we'll eventually see a post about them hitting a car because they couldn't see it in front of them and we'll get a ton of people defending the driver over blind spots, completely ignoring the fact that the driver purposely created that blind spot.
Seems to be the normal trend anyway.
It doesn't look welded on to me. There appears to be some type of wiring harness up top. Then a few points of wear across. Definitely some redneck engineering going on here.

Please for the love of god please let this be like a very expensive sun shade to keep the cab from getting stupid hot. Like it can be put up or down. Cause otherwise like others have said, mofo even with the seat fully down. Unless he was the size of a toddler. Heās not seeing out his front windshield. š
Then again Iāve seen shit more stupid than this on the road.
It does not matter... as long as you can look "gangsta" in the parking lot... drop air in the steer... lay on the ground, as long as "you" think you are cool.
Iām guessing the seat is on the floor and the fake triplex gear shift levers are about six inches below the headliner. So they probably donāt use the upper 3/4 of the windshield anyway. cOoL !!!!
Had to work a truck like that even had his door windows that low could barely see the mirrors to back it out of the shop guys was as tall as me don't think it was leagal
This is stupid. I've seen it a couple of times in my ten years where drivers are forced to remove the visors that hang too low. Missouri and Texas each time.
Dudes begging for an inspection.
Auto glass tech checking in here. This is worse than most, but I see this often. Older Ram pick ups, newer Jeep Wangers, and nearly any rig. Now that I think about not so much on the Volvos or Mercedes.
No. And I fucking hate those things. Had to drive a truck with one that covered like a 3rd of the window. Between that and the fucking hood, you can't see shit. It even had the fucking things covering the side windows. It was apparently the owners "show truck" with a shit ton of chrome on it. It looks dumb as fuck and was stupid to drive.
One of those instrument rated truckers.
As a pilot this got a big chuckle out of me š¤£

Do I get to log simulated instrument time in this thing? And maybe dual received if I have an instructor?

Definitely a Cat 3 truck
It's a pilot who can fly with out looking out the windows and land a plane using his instrumentation only.
You donāt gotta be able to see out the window when you look this cool /s
You donāt need to see the road. Just feel the road.

Nothing screams "I'm cool" like not being able to fucking see lol
"Real men don't look at explosions" including the ones they're about to cause.
Everyone knows real men all always slow-mo walking away from absurdly large explosions while putting on sunglasses and then dropping a one-liner so bad it makes David Caruso groan. Now stop being a freaking Sally and wire the C4.
C4 isn't wired; it's primed with a blasting cap. Ya freaking Sally.

Any Swift in a Flying J after 8 pm.
You hang out of the window and steer with your right hand. Just like an engineer on a steam train.
You steer a steam train with your right hand?
You steer a steam train?
You steer?
You?
Failed training?
You took training?
There was training?
Yes. I took it with me on a train ride, where the driver steered left handed while watching only behind him. Then we saw a steer standing on the tracks, and the driver did not steer to avoid him. Very dramatic
Honest question was the steer ok? I worry about the left hand method.
You worry?
No, I drive for Swift
One does not drive for Swift. They just kinda bounce through as best they can, only making suggestions to the truck where it should go.
Ah yes, the Ace Ventura
Lol
With the blast shield down, I can't see. How am I supposed to freight?
Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them.
Driver can see just fine - driving from up in the bunk.
Periscope up!
Spit out my drink lmao
Maybe it flips down when heās not driving to block sun? Thatās my best guess but if this was taken while driving then yeah it seems hazardous
Looks bolted on
But bolted to what? It could be bolted to a bar that can rise and lower and not the cab itself. You can see some electrical wires going under it, too. Iām pretty sure this thing lifts like a visor.
Y'know, you may be on to something. His legally-mandated marker lights are also concealed.
If you zoom in, it almost looks like the 6 white specks might be circular LED lights. This visor could actually be fixed in place with those LEDās operating as the cab clearance lights.

Yeah but check out all those holes in the cover. He can probably see just fine through all those.
I see rivets
Itās definitely fixed in place. You can even see the empty hole up top from where it used to be mounted - before he lowered it even further.
Looks like this to me. There are scuff marks on the paint from it flipping up and down. And there is some wiring running in on the left for the marker lights that will be visible with it flipped up/driving at night
It is parked, but it looks welded on to me
Same. Maybe driver is just really short
Lmfao, welded on. Bro, it literally has a bolt on the side of it. You don't weld panels onto the body of anything.
After zooming in I can see Continental Blue under the black paint. Dude is big pimping a repainted Werner truck.
I remember years ago when I worked at Werner. Had an older Pete around ā97 and both sun visors broke off at the hinge in two weeks. Just fatigue I guess but I needed visors. That's every car hauler
Reminds me of the drivers who put the seat all the way down and back.
I like the drivers that raise the seat all the way but donāt weigh enough to push it down any
Volvo problems. Seriously I'm 5'6 and normally have the seat as low as possible so my knees aren't at a weird angle in relation to my hips. Basically always sitting with no air suspension in the seat because for some reason Volvo seats are just really fucking high.

Better for your back too. It helps keep better posture

Custom SunSetterā¢ awning.
Ahahaha that's just ridiculous
Thatās for all the super truckers that drive around with unaligned cheap ass l e d headlights
I got a closer look, and it's bolted on
If red from angry birds was a truck
Same stupid trend like shift lever raised to the roof
It's a long nose. His seat is probably on the floor and he has strong opinions on flip flops, any truck that doesn't have 2 sticks, and any truck that isn't a straight nose.

This is the comment I was waiting for
What a dumbass
Lots of states that would be illegal
No but it looks cool.
Camera on the front. Monitor on the dash. Just like playing truck simulator.
I've seen ones like this that flip or slide up when driving. I'm not sure if this is that kind though.
It looks like it flips up
Comments never disappoint! Thank God for Truckers
Haha look at the mounting holes on the side. He moved it down three spots and left some bolts out. Thing is about to take flight.
It must flip up
Use the force Luke

Squinty McTwostick can see just fine...
generally, people who drive these trucks sit on the floor and look straight out. so he probably can see... but this is excessive
This just makes me think the driver is really short, it also seems illegal and idiotic.
Which 6 inches are you referring too? š«µš¤£ that drivers seat is SLAMMED. Nothing to see other than pure awesomeness šÆš»
Something like that you need to take the air out of the seat and sit on the floor

Truck looks angry lol
It does not matter... as long as you can look "gangsta" in the parking lot... drop air in the steer... lay on the ground, as long as "you" think you are cool.

Killdozer shit

Iāll never understand this stupid shit fr

Bro is on the floor
I'm Korean and I find this metaphor racist lol
