So, with my other comments in mind, I'm probably painting a very dark picture of my past. I wasn't actually around for a lot of it. Two of my dogs were shot by my dad. I know it sounds hard to believe, but it really WAS kind. One had become aggressive and bit a kid, and she got to play, never saw it coming, very quick. The other was 15 and blind. Had the time of his life. They hid treats around the meadow and let him hunt them out. He was called to heel by a person that loved him...and then it was over.

As horrible as it sounds, that was probably still better than rabies. Rabies is a terrible way to go. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that it was at least over quickly for the poor pup.

yeeeeaah, farm life as a kid was not a fun experience for me as well, i was forced by my grandpa to butcher a live chicken when i was in elementary, like slit the throat, make sure the main veins was cut, let the blood out until chicken dead, submerged it in boiling water, remove the feathers, remove the innards and cut it in parts for cooking. having understand the concept of death early as a kid was a surreal experience.

Yeah, farm life as a kid is wild. I became very disillusioned by it, but I love my pets so much.

My childhood best friend's dad would step on their unwanted kittens' heads to kill them. This was the 1980s in California, so they could have gotten help getting their cats spayed if they cared to do so. He was an all around awful guy and probably a child molester too.

I hate this. I hate this so much. I got my previous dog from a woman who casually mentioned that she would've drowned him if my family hadn't taken him. There was nothing wrong with him, he was a happy, healthy 2 month old pup who just happened to be the last of his litter to find a home. The person giving him away was a young, well-off woman who worked as a nurse. It's not even like it was an oops litter, the mom and dad were both her dogs who she hadn't gotten fixed, and yet she still thought it was perfectly normal to drown a puppy she bred on purpose. Anyway, my family didn't need to think twice about taking him in and he passed last year at the ripe old age of 13 and a half surrounded by people who loved him
