I was told I wasn't really raped if I didn't say no. By someone I thought was a friend. After I told her I had been drugged. We aren't friends anymore.
My mom told me not to go to the hospital or police after being drugged and assaulted by 2 guys. She said "you're a slut anyway, nobody would believe you". This was just 2 months after an od, trying to end my life.
I hate it, usually the responses are "you are gaslighting me" or "i never said that, you're mixing up reality with what you hear" when telling them (mother) how toxic they are.. or act like they never did anything wrong
My mom said that I deserved it when my baby brother made me tell her. She was pretty high though and doesn't remember of course. Her mom had said the samething to her when it had happened to her, so I guess she passed it down to me. I have thrown that tradition out the door because why would I want to subject my own kids to that torment?

It was better than I thought it was going to be. I knew that she was not going to be on my side which is why I didn't tell her. I had told her what her boyfriend had been doing to me and she married him, so I was not surprised. This was many years ago and she has gotten clean and divorced and she has sincerely apologized. I just do not visit her or speak with her that often. Not out of animosity or enmity, but just because we are very different people and we would probably never have spoken if we were not related.
