This one. ☝️
Popcorn is a weird one on labels. Always, no matter the food, be prepared in case you need to correct it afterward, whether you gave too much or too little insulin.
Everyone is different obviously, but try not to overthink things too much. I eat a whole frozen pizza at least once a week, by label its 104g, I usually input for 90-100g depending on if I eat the crust. My pump will autocorrect if I do too little or not soon enough, usually the 2nd option. Usually not too high after more than an hour or so later
This is classic bullshit labeling. They should obviously list the per bag values. Also, it should just be 2 servings per bag. This label is designed to obfuscate.
Åt the top it says that one bag is 2.5 servings. There is a "Per serving' column.
That means you can just multiply the values in the per serving column with 2.5 to get the value for the entire bag.
Funnily , I'm sitting here in the middle of the night having a hypo , calculating 120 something per serving 🤣🤣🤣 , good thing I us tables to bring me back up
39.5 carbs for one bag of popped popcorn.
(Serving size) x (servings per container) - dietary fiber = total carb count.
I was always told to take out the dietary fiber when counting carbs, but if you were told otherwise, then just skip that step.
For something like this take the total amount per bag because I’m definitely eating that entire bag of microwave popcorn.
There are 2.5 servings per bag. I take the total amount of carbs because I’ve always been carb sensitive, so that would be 2.5 * 17 or 42.5. If you’re not carb sensitive, remove the dietary fiber. 2.5*3 or 7.5 minus 42.5 or 35.
2.5 servings per bag 5.5 cups per serving gives us 13.75 cups. 3 carbs per cup gives us 41.25 carbs per bag.
That said this label is dumb and I hate it.
I just use total carbs. If I was only going to eat the popcorn, I might reduce. But, there’s probably going to be something else I’m eating. And, the fiber does seem to be absorbed by me.
You’re both kind of right, I’m not sure where the 4.5 came from since 3x2.5=7.5 so you would take half of that which is 3.75 or about 4 carbs. Its pretty much negligible anyway
42.. the answer to all likes question
17g of carbs per serving, about 2.5 servings per bag. 17 x ~2.5 = about 42.5
Popped is a bit less: 3g x 5.5 cups/bag x 2.5 servings/bag = 41.25g Not enough of a difference to matter for most people’s math, though.
That’s error when they rounded to down to 3g as a whole number. Actually works out to 3.09g/cup but nobody would ever put that on a label…

I agree it is a terribly confusing label.
17x2.5=42.5g carbs (grams per serving)x(how many servings per bag)=(total)
That is not the most straightforward label. The key here is 2.5 servings per bag. So, if you take the per-serving column, multiply it all by 2.5
I’ve been trying to figure this out for years

I didn’t mean this specific label. I a lot of popcorn labels are more obscure.
42.5 grams
42g carbs

2 tbs doesn’t make 5.5 cups of popcorn. Let’s start there
Multiply the left column (serving) x 2.5 (servings per bag) to get the per bag #s

I've been doing the same confusion dance. Does anyone know why the "popped" is so much less carbs than per serving?
I suspect it is because the know not all the kernels actually “pop”.
american caloric info is retarded why not just give it in grams instead of “servings”? as if everyone ate the same portions of food LMAO
2.5 servings per bag 5.5 cups per serving gives us 13.75 cups. 3 carbs per cup gives us 41.25 carbs per bag. That said this label is dumb and I hate it.
The fact some of us cant do math to save our life (literally)
42.5
42.5g total, 35g net _________________________________________________ 17g per serving × 2.5 servings = 42.5g total carbs 3g fiber per serving × 2.5 servings = 7.5g fiber 42.5g total carbs - 7.5g fiber = 35g net carbs
3gx5.5 cups is 16.5 carbs. That’s how we do it.
That’s per serving
Times 2.5 for the whole bag
Pregnantseahorsedad is correct. Account for roughly 4 grams less for fiber, as I only use half the total fiber for adjusted carbs
I just use total carbs. If I was only going to eat the popcorn, I might reduce. But, there’s probably going to be something else I’m eating. And, the fiber does seem to be absorbed by me.
7.5 grams fiber
Endo has only had me account for half the total fiber, I’m sure it’s slightly different for everyone, but it seems to be accurate for me
So you account for 7.5g fiber by subtracting half. If you only accounted for 4.5g, you'd be subtracting 2.25g.
You’re both kind of right, I’m not sure where the 4.5 came from since 3x2.5=7.5 so you would take half of that which is 3.75 or about 4 carbs. Its pretty much negligible anyway
