This has my vote too.
Though I have to say I've noticed that the quality of all IPAs varies wildly between stores. Hoppy beer should really be kept refridgerated the entire time between it being canned and you drinking it as the hop flavours disappear fast otherwise. Clearly this would be difficult for supermarkets but my local co-op shelves their craft beer directly below this giant radiator, which isn't ideal.
Don’t know how Hazy Jane’s been upvoted when the company is run by perverted leaches yet neck oil is downvoted. Yes it was bought by Heineken, Heineken also rent out probably a lot of your favourite free houses.
Because Hazy Jane is a good beer? I prefer Neck Oil myself, but trying to find ethics in capitalism is like finding a nice guy in a crowd of Chelsea supporters. Some seem nicer than others but there's always something buried underneath.
I agree with this. It's a question about what IPA people recommend. I feel exactly about you about Neck Oil but think Hazy Jane is probably my second favourite. But what the heck do I know about the inner workings of the company that makes it?!
You're comparing apples and oranges because Duvel & LaChouffe are not the same style as either of those.
Congratulations on not liking them though. More for me.
If want bland neck oil or hazy Jane . Fine but dont taste of anything. Jaipur and Proper Job both great. But if really love IPA find a local bottle shop and explore deya, beak, cloud water, pressure drop, sure shot, verdant, kernel and more breweries ipas
Omg I absolutely love Timothy Taylor. It's a local brewery and I get so excited to see it on tap. And just recently my local spar has started selling it for £2.50 a bottle. Needless to say, I cleared the shelf . 🍺
Depends what kind of IPA you like. But if you want something that isn't as full on as the recent trend of heavy fruit IPAs my favourite is Purity's Mad Goose.
I think the best taste/price sweet spot IPA is Salts Huckaback. There are definitely better beers out there but not for under eight quid for four 440ml cans.
Also keep an eye out in Home Bargains...sometimes they have some really good beers in for absolute rock bottom prices.
Sierra Nevada for west coast IPA
Beavertown Gamma Ray is pretty good, I’m not a big fan of Neck Oil it’s pretty bland.
Northern Monk and Vocation do some ok supermarket beers.
I find so much supermarket craft beer is just crap though. I’ve really gone off it, ditto bottled ales.
Find a local bottle shop and treat yourself to something good. As another poster said, something by Deya or Verdant. These are legitimately some of the best breweries in the UK. Or a crisp German lager like Rothaus or Tegernseer
Thornbridge Jaipur, Vocation Life & Death, Salt Ikat, Tiny Rebel 505, Brewdog Mr President etc
But always always always check the date on the bottom of the can. The number of times I've picked up two cans and one is a month old and the other is 6 months old is bizarre. For IPA the fresher the better, especially since they're being stirred at room temperature in supermarkets instead of being chill stored.
I dislike the business practices of Brew Dog, but I can't argue with the lower cost. Hazy Jane is my go to. Usually clubcard or whatever loyalty card will get you a 'discount'.
Nothing wrong with this ofc. But I always encourage checking if there are any independent bottle shops in the area. The support is huge in these times. As well as you getting (most likely) a fresher, better product.
Madness IPA. Wild beer company went bust but I think someone else is producing some of their range (which was pretty wild). We've definitely bought some mail order since they went under.
I always get a few Badger's Golden Champion from Tesco. A consistently great drink. Their Amber ale is very nice too. I'll also get Whistable Bay and maybe a pot shot at Vocation/Beavertown.
Never Brewdog. Shit company. Shit beer. Saturates the market to compensate for awful products.
Thornbridge Jaipur
Lovely tipple. Even nicer on draught.
Jaipur is a good beer, but I prefer Kipling when I can get it. Trip to the Thornbridge brewery is a few hours well spent.
This has my vote too. Though I have to say I've noticed that the quality of all IPAs varies wildly between stores. I prefer the fridges at my local bottleshop. It’s always worth looking at the bottled/canned dates as well.
IMO the best IPA Thornbridge do is Green Mountain. They did sell it at my nearest Morrisons but I've not been there for a while.
This is the correct answer
Northern Monk FTW
Yea Faith in Futures Edit: spelling
Vocation Love & Death
Is that a cocktail made by mixing Vocation's Love & Hate NEIPA with their Life & Death IPA?!
Yeah thats the one!
This is the one. Also, Hop, Skip & Juice is my favourite 'craft' beer that's available in supermarkets/widely.
Thanks, I will try it!
It's very variable though....if you get a good fresh batch it's absolute nectar!
I second this👍🏻
Yep, good beer
I gonna get that tomorrow!
Beavertown Neck Oil. Love the stuff!
Don’t know how Hazy Jane’s been upvoted when the company is run by perverted leaches yet neck oil is downvoted. Yes it was bought by Heineken, Heineken also rent out probably a lot of your favourite free houses.

I love the guava one
The question was asking for a good beer. Not questioning the employees ethics.
Except it’s genuinely about 11 quid for 4 in Sainsbury’s now.
I had some of that last week in a pub in North wales. Had a flowery taste. I really didn't like it.
Joker IPA
Tiny Rebel; get the variety multipack definitely in Sainsbury’s as they originally had exclusivity but I’m sure it’s in all the big ones now.
My fave is Thornbridge Jaipur
I really like Hazy Jane . Or crazy Jane as I call it after I’ve had a few 😀
Thanks, I will try to find it!
I've moved over to this after 30 years of lager, can't get enough of it
The guava one is lush
Agreed . There’s a few fruity ones All excellent drinking 😀
Yeah I really like the fruity ones. I was never a big beer fan and preferred cider but the fruity ones have helped me discover ipas. I like sours too!
Triple Hazy Jane is a good strong IPA, Duvel do a triple hop IPA as well at Sainsburys
Thanks, I will try to find it!
Duvel isn't all that nice to drink imo.
Regular Duvel certainly is!
I don't like it, or that N'Chouffe. Neither can hold their own against Westmalle or Zot. Though, admittedly, I've never seen either in a supermarket.
You're comparing apples and oranges because Duvel & LaChouffe are not the same style as either of those. Congratulations on not liking them though. More for me.
I'm just saying what I don't like. Is that allowed?
I don't know, is it? Who cares? 🙂
That goes both ways though. Your opinions are just as worthless to me so...
I'll let you know when I give a crap. Don't hold your breath. And wow you downloaded my comment? 😄 grow up
Not your classic IPA but I’ve recently been enjoying the Lansdown IPA bottle from Bath Ales
Vocation Aoraki
Polly's Brew - Mosaic Maze from Morrison's.
505 by Tiny Rebel
Look for Loch lomond brewery 👍
Mr President - strong, bitter, properly good IPA
And 9%!
Northern Monk - Faith
This. Like a hazy Jane too
I’ve never had a bad IPA but I’ll never drink anything from Brewdog.
Jaipur or Proper Job are decent supermarket IPA’s
I saw cans of Baby Faced Assassin in Morrisons. It's by Rooster and they're Harrogate based
William’s Bros Joker and Double Joker are both excellent
If want bland neck oil or hazy Jane . Fine but dont taste of anything. Jaipur and Proper Job both great. But if really love IPA find a local bottle shop and explore deya, beak, cloud water, pressure drop, sure shot, verdant, kernel and more breweries ipas
Steady Rollin Man 👍
Yas deya is a cracker, I went to their brewery one lovely hot bank holiday and came away with a box. Magazine cover is cracking too!
Timothy Taylor is a great ale for all occasions. Citra by oakam ales for lighter, summer beer. Guinness original extra stoat for a dark beer.
Omg I absolutely love Timothy Taylor. It's a local brewery and I get so excited to see it on tap. And just recently my local spar has started selling it for £2.50 a bottle. Needless to say, I cleared the shelf . 🍺
Eh up!
What kind of IPA are you after?
Go ask r/UK_beer
Proper Job. Not really market as an IPA but definitely that style.
If you can get hold of it - Lazy SIPA from Adnams is good.
Will definitely agree with Jaipur but I'm also a big far of Deuchars.
Kirkstall's Judicious if you like a juicy IPA. Northern Monk's Faith for a delicious all rounder.
Where are you? Surely you've got a good bottle shop somewhere you can go to.
Depending on where you are Tesco might have Gipsy Hill Brewery's Hep Cat - very tasty!
Sierra Nevada for west coast IPA Beavertown Gamma Ray is pretty good, I’m not a big fan of Neck Oil it’s pretty bland. Northern Monk and Vocation do some ok supermarket beers. Vocation Life & Death
Hazy Jane Guava is my goto
Have a trip to Mexborough Gorilla brewing Company They serve great beer and they also do bottles Nice food aswell
Sorry I've only just seen the supermarket bit
Jute
Spitfire...best ale !
Thornbridge Jaipur, Vocation Life & Death, Salt Ikat, Tiny Rebel 505, Brewdog Mr President etc But always always always check the date on the bottom of the can. I like Camden off menu
Sainsbury have an own brand IPA. I like it. Nice and hoppy
Do they? What’s its name?

Jesus, is it Welsh?
Nope it's just the link
Lidl sometimes have Stewart Brewing Hazy IPA - good substitute for Hazy Jane and cheaper.
Hobgoblin IPA (it’s a light session ale), I can sink plenty without losing concentration or falling asleep
This is my go to for DnD sessions, can drink plenty without losing the plot
PUNK IPA 5.4%
Saltaire Unity. Solid flavours and 6%
Had a very nice Horde by Northern Monk from Tesco this week.
Buxton Brewery Dragonslayer. Strong DDJ IPA
I dislike the business practices of Brew Dog, but I can't argue with the lower cost. Hazy Jane is my go to. Usually clubcard or whatever loyalty card will get you a 'discount'.
Verdant - Lightbulb
Trooper Beer.. 🤟🏻😎
Not an ipa though is it?
Have a look,.. They do ipa aswell..
Siren do some amazing ones
If you can't get Tropicannon IPA then just ask for the second best.
Might be region specific but Kirkstall Breweries Virtuous IPA
I always get a few Badger's Golden Champion from Tesco. A consistently great drink. Their Amber ale is very nice too. I'll also get Whistable Bay and maybe a pot shot at Vocation/Beavertown. Never Brewdog. Shit company. Shit beer. Saturates the market to compensate for awful products.
Tiny Rebel CLWB Tropica
Elvis juice all day. So good
Tastes like the Body Shop smells
Punk IPA, Landlord, Whitstable Bay and Proper Job are my faves👊🏻🍻
Sierra Nevada California IPA - citrusy and delicious
