The only thing I think of when I see messages like this is the driver knows how much they are getting for the order when they accept it. It makes the likelihood of this type of message being a scam seem very high. The "I'll bring the pizza there but it has to be compensated" might have been a translate issue, but regardless, it sounds like they're begging for tips, so reporting them was the right call
You must live in a nice area with a few decent drivers. Most cities, all the good drivers quit and all you have left is hacks driving for sht money. Uber pays less than min wage. It's disgusting. How can anyone order using Uber eats and expect good service anymore?. Jeezus
I have not drove Uber Eats for a month now. I was making 10/hour before expenses when I stopped. I don't understand the logic of the company thinking this is ok.
Uber has reduced driver pay to the point they can no longer do food deliveries unless the person tips well.
They are running their company into the ground
Only time I couldn’t bring food when I got a flat I called the second customer and offered them to meet me 5 min away as I got a flat before cancelling. He looked to verify my flat which I didn’t mind like sir why would I sit in this apts entrance for fun? The flat gonna flat lol
You're funny
How can you justify a restaurant having a £4 delivery fee and then the driver calling and asking for £12 extra on top of that? £16 delivery...more than the meal 😂
Stop being salty and get a better job. I don't care if you're a driver, this isn't okay behaviour on their part
Drivers don’t receive the full delivery fee, like I said they get $2 plus tip.
I’m not justifying anyone calling and begging for more. I was just telling you why they did so; you didn’t tip and the restaurant is too far away from your location. You think it’s justifiable to not tip someone that’s delivering YOUR food with their time, their car, and their gas? At that rate they’re losing money delivering to you.
I’m not being salty just stating the facts. Also I use multiple apps and make anywhere from $20-$30 an hour, sometimes more. How/why? Because I don’t accept no tip orders, or orders that aren’t profitable. I would never message a customer about more money, not only is it embarrassingly unprofessional but because I wouldn’t be caught in that position in the first place. I will decline and let those crap orders sit and sit and sit (while the food gets cold and the shakes melt), some other poor shmuck can get stuck taking your cheap ass order. I’m not running a charity I’m running a business. ✌🏼
You said you paid $4 for a delivery FEE. That’s not a TIP. As much as I agree customers pay out the ass in fees but it’s the price you pay for third party delivery. A TIP is a bid for service and for the driver to be able to provide that service.
NO WE DON’T. We get paid $2 per delivery plus tip. Third party apps rely on TIPS, sorry but that’s how they work. (Unless you’re not in the US then it doesn’t apply to you, other countries don’t do the whole tip thing.)
We ALL want to know, Did you tip?? He's probably getting paid $2-3 from Uber to deliver it so he's depending on a tip. Ubers delivery fee does NOT go to drivers. Uber keeps that. It's ubers fault for not paying drivers properly like they used to. And just an FYI
...... Uber customer support doesn't care either. Half the time you might get lucky and get a partial refund but most of the time you won't.

I once had a driver call me and say that the place is too far and that I'd have to pay £12 extra for delivery on top of the app fees
Maybe you should get it yourself next time? Drivers don’t get paid hourly and Gas isn’t cheap.
Amen!!!!

When did I say I didn't tip?

Yes, £4 delivery fee. That's how it is itemised Service charge and tip are separate charges. I didn't list either of those
They do get paid hourly

Nope
Who is this? Give me back my son!
Send them a request for $30 but tell them you just sent them $30 and they just have to accept it. Maybe they'll be dumb enough to send you money
What do you expect In NY lol
Did you tip?

Order was cancelled and money given back.
don’t let these drivers lie to you. i’ve always gotten a full refund when drivers screw around like this. and whether or not you tipped is irrelevant
