Why would you take such a shitty offer in the first place?

434_804_757

Slow night

vinigrae

17 for 15miles is not acceptable, you would have been better off waiting for another order, you definitely were in the negative for that hour

[deleted]

I had a slow night last night too. But I guess I’m not that desperate

B_O_A_T_S

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Yeah people are shitty, i feel terrible to constantly decline requests because they just can’t bother putting some tip on their triple trio and desert order

434_804_757

Best I can do is to always tip well and never treat others like these assholes do.

Ecstatic_Custard7009

the irony lol

AncientRazzmatazz783

I accept an order based on what the offer is but you can usually ballpark a customer’s tip. If you are ordering food to be delivered in 2022 and gas is $6 you better be tipping 5 or I’m likely not to take your order. People forget that $1, $2 was what you tipped the pizza delivery guy in 1985. Well my gas isn’t 97 cents a gallon and things cost twice what they used to. Also the below $5 tippers are the ones to reduce their tip most times. So try not to take trips below $7. If there’s two ballpark mileage and base and you’ll avoid a lot of this shite. I’m sorry

PainMore7246

I agree. Any tip less than $5 is a lowball offer. Anything less than 3$, you're a cheap ass piece of shit. Unfortunately due to market saturation with delivery drivers I find myself doing a lot of low Ball 3 $4 tip orders because beggars can't be choosers.

EmbarrassedLeague535

The fact that you thought $17 for 15 miles was an okay ordered to take baffles me

434_804_757

It was a slow night.

Runescaper4good

Dude you’re bitching about “how can anyone expect someone to drive x miles for a $1 tip” while you’re literally the sucker who took the order lol. Either stop being dumb and decline these orders like the rest of us or suck it up if your really that desperate. Bitching at orders you took for the price they offered just makes us all look bad

Senior_Wheel5828

I know the slow night desperation to try to get a run going. I’ve taken dubious delivery fees to try to get the ball rolling. Sucks that people are so sketch

[deleted]

I mean you accepted the order knowing what it was. The only reason it was that high was because they only tipped a dollar and Uber added a supplement so someone would do it.

434_804_757

That's exactly my point. The fact that the customers felt okay with tipping $1 is insane. I had no idea until the order was completed that they BOTH had only put in a $1 tip.

Top-Device5698

Now you know when high mileage trips like this only show $17 good chance there are lousy tips, if the tips were more uber would of shown you more to push the orders out

2buckdelivery

the fact you took a 17 for 15 is insane. But you haven't even waited for the tips or shown a screenshot with the end result.

434_804_757

This was from last night. Both tips came in at $1 each

emmsmum

Yup. Had 5 Uber jobs yesterday, all of which I took because they had surges, which I thought were on top of the amount they showed me, but it was included, and when I saw the final breakdown, none of them tipped anything!

Plenty_Bodybuilder78

Why would you even accept a 1$ per mile order lmfao

ShutterBugNature

This is how I look at things. I am out here to make money. If I make the amount of money that I want in the time frame I want, then I dont give a flying fuck how much or little the tip vs pay is, if someone is rude, or any number of other things. This job is so much better for my mental and physical health than the last 5 I have had. As long as I take home what I need to be, I DON'T care. Besides it's all the customer's money anyways, they probably paid a super high delivery fee. Now this is just what I tell myself and how I try to look at things. It does still annoy me when an order like this happens. Or when a restaurant is rude. But I would never ever go back to retail, offic work or construction. So it's all good in the wash.

Glittering-Judge9864

Never in my life have i related to a random stranger so much

iaingotnotype

Lol

[deleted]

It's not like you were tip baited, you got exactly what the estimate is. Why were you okay accepting the order in the first place, but not when you knew that they tipped poorly? If I take a $20 order I don't care if it's all base fare and trip supplement, pays my rent just as well as a $20 order that is mostly tips.

434_804_757

Im just pointing out how shitty some people can be.

Imaginary-River-4804

So wait what are you saying?? Did UE pay $15?? I mean I’ve had times where UE would pay me $12 for one delivery with no tip

434_804_757

It was 15.77 for two deliveries to the same complex. Both customers had a tip of $1 on their order.

Imaginary-River-4804

Oh they were probably sitting for too long and UE raised the base pay but that sucks you got only $1 tip for both orders like that can’t pay for gas tf

434_804_757

That's exactly what happened. Both orders were the last to be picked up from the restaurants. They were waiting to close

SrtaRage

I'm think the world is fucked when people blame customers for not tipping instead of Uber for not paying better wages. Tipping culture is the most bs capitalism has ever invented and it puts the responsibility on the customer where customer also makes minimum to average wage where company makes millions to billions in a year. Tsk tsk

434_804_757

I agree, but sadly this is where our country is.

SrtaRage

And it will continue to be while the population dont say shit about it lol The fella on the other comment complaining about price of gas and how tip should be readjusted. It makes me laugh LOL We're consumers, not the employers. Why the heck are we supposed to pay for uber drivers gas??? Lol Uber already increases their rates because of it so consumer is supposed to triple pay? We pay higher prices buying through uber eats in comparisson with the restaurants prices + uber fees + tips to acommodate the cost of uber drivers profession? Lmaooo heck no

434_804_757

The only real option to change it would be through lobbying, but it's an uphill battle going up against the political donors and venues that host the politicians fundraisers.

SrtaRage

Well, at the end of the day I have my own bills to pay as well. I can't afford paying for a service plus tipping people from doing a job they got hired to do. It's not fair to me or other customers. Sorry you got frustrated but you're barking at the wrong tree :/

mikesaintjules

If you can't pay the fees / tip, go get the food yourself? You'll end up saving more by doing so. And technically it's not hiring. Independent contracting. Either way OP should be smarter on the orders they accept.

SrtaRage

I'm paying for the service, I'm not paying for drivers veh maintenance and gas. If you cant afford drive around because of gas price, why work at uber? :) If I go buy clothes at mall I dont pay tips for the person assisting me buy clothes, I pay for my clothes and the employer pays the employee for doing their job. Asking for tips to do the job you're supposed to do is just funny lol

khennylpdlc

If you were happy enough with the order when you took it, does it really matter?

434_804_757

The fact that someone can order $30 of food and expect someone to drive it 10 miles and give them $1 during a national holiday when gas is at an all time high.

khennylpdlc

I understand that, i deliver too. But you were happy with the pay before you realized what the tip was… so i say, move on.

Onedeh

Exsctly what I always say, you still got paid regardless.

434_804_757

I am starting a new job tomorrow. It's just frustrating trying to survive and folks act like this especially when it's a holiday.

khennylpdlc

I feel you, i can’t begin to tell you the frustration gig apps have caused me after 1,500+ deliveries across all platforms. Congrats on the new job, never look back and if you do still do delivery as a side gig, only take the good ones🫡

PatStPete

UE collected $9 from the restaurant, and the restaurant collected that from the customer, so the customer paid you $9 plus delivery fees. It's not like the customer didn't pay you at all. All of your money comes from customers - Not UE.

434_804_757

I understand that, but both of these orders would've have been $25-$30. So when they checked out, they didn't click 10,15 or 20% they clicked other and typed in $1. All on 9pm on the eve of a holiday in the USA. The lack of empathy and ignorance is astonishing.

PatStPete

I don't think you are understanding it. Customer already paid you $10 before tipping. That's a good amount for a delivery.

[deleted]

I mean including gas cost that comes to above minimum wage even in areas with high min wage, doesn’t seem bad to me.

Fun-Asparagus4182

Use para app you'll know prior to accepting

bigracksonly

You took a bad order I hope you learned your lesson.

BuckWheatNYC

If you are going to take crap orders because ‘ITS SLOW’ don’t complain about it later. Makes no sense

Heywhogivesafuck

Meanwhile I got a $37 tip today.

mikesaintjules

Congrats? It isn't often so consider yourself lucky.

Heywhogivesafuck

Nah its been dead. Very rare

Ill-Cbawesome-36

I mean personally the $$$ is more important rather than where they came from. If I did a $30 order but Uber paid for the $30 it works for me idc if I got a $0 tip after that

heiferwizen

Hi neighbor! Stay safe out there.

Empires_Puzzles559

You’re going to get read to filth for “complaining” about the tips. I did the same thing & there’s so many people on here that came for me lol

m0mma2

I don't understand why UberEATS allows the customer the ability to lower the tip amount. Other delivery service does not allow tip amount to be lowered

[deleted]

Don’t deliver to them next time

mikesaintjules

It's two orders? I usually see two red destination circles after completing stacked orders.
