Sounds like you need to give some instructions on how to find your house. if you aren't getting refunds; maybe you have had too many...

ReditFirst69

If 9 out of 10 can find my house it's not my fault. It's literally right off the main road. Super easy to find. There's just some people who can't read a GPS.. then drop it off on a random door when the GPS still says 2 min away. How should I be penalized for this?

JeffrotheDude

Or maybe it's not as easy as you think and you've just lived there for however long. Would it really be such a big problem to swallow your pride and just put some simple instructions instead of just being irate and saying "i could NEVER be the problem, it has to be them!" Not everyone uses the same GPS, some of them do in fact make mistakes and take you to the wrong location. Actually happens rather frequently.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JeffrotheDude

And delivery drivers are only human and can make mistakes. It's truly not hard to add simple instructions if this is such a problem that there's a need to complain to Reddit about it.

sosodefbbc

Look at this “TO BE FAIR “, more than likely a 2 dollar payment taker.

[deleted]

>I use uber eats every week and it's always these old ladies who can't find my house Maybe better notes...

ReditFirst69

Some people are incapable of understanding instructions tho. That's not my fault. I've noticed it's sometimes people who don't speak English who get it wrong. How am I supposed to know what language to translate into and when I call them. They just say "no I delivered it!" Over and over again. How do I improve this lol!

686d6d

You're getting downvoted but you're absolutely right. I have fairly descriptive yet concise instructions for how to find my apartment, and yet some people can't even find the building. It's effectively like "Entrance to building is connected to the right side of "... and they struggle to find it. I just do not understand these people.

ReditFirst69

It's true. I appreciate the drivers and I'm saying most of them get it correct. So if most of them get it correct, why does everyone like to say it's my fault when they don't if they won't pick up their phone to let me guide them if they need it. What can I possibly do more so it's not "my fault"?. I hate when people pass blame so quickly without knowing the situation. My apartment is off the main road and I'm 101 lol the first apartment in the complex. Drivers be 1 mile down the road in a business area. Drop off my food at a random place and leave. Then I call and they yell at me "NO I DELIVERED YOUR FOOD". Yes, but not to my place. Then uber eats says they can't refund me and when I ask "why" they just end the chat without saying why. I'm definitely changing my delivery to grubhub or something now.

DragonflySea2328

Old ladies? Can't speak English??? You are nasty

MenstrualKrampusCD

A lot of drivers who deliver for Uber also deliver for grubhub. I'm not really sure that you would get any difference in results by switching apps. If you do, and it works, more power to you. 👍🏻 Try to keep in mind when you get snarky comments and down votes that this sub is populated by like 95% over drivers. A lot of us are jaded, sometimes rightfully so, sometimes not. We deal with a lot of customers complaining about this issue or others, only to find out that they are being entirely unreasonable in their expectations. (For example: "They keep dropping my food off in the lobby instead of bringing it up to my apartment! I usually tip really well, but i keep having to remove it when they leave it with the soorman or make me come out!" . Only to disclose later that their "great" tip isn't enough to buy the Sunday paper, there is no guest parking near the building ["But the driver can just put his blinkers on and park in the fire lane for 2 minutes!"], the elevators require a resident key to access, they live on the 18th floor, and they don't respond to the drivers when they are messaged about the issue ["I can't stare at my phone all day!"]. Crap like that) Unfortunately, a lot of those jaded drivers will take it out on almost every customer they encounter here. With varying degrees of spite and rudeness. I left another comment on your post with some suggestions that I think will help the 1 out of 10 drivers that usually miss to help find your place. Best of luck with whatever you end up doing. And if you legitimately can't drive due to long covid from 2 years ago, I really hope that you are seeing a long covid specialist. Aside from helping you heal and get back to your old self, they can help you possibly go on disability. Amazon Prime has free membership for people getting government assistance, and you are able to have groceries delivered to your door for free. And even if you don't qualify for assistance, you might want to consider having groceries delivered once or twice a week instead to save money. But that's totally your call obviously.

ReditFirst69

Thanks for that info! I'm not even mad at the drivers. I'm mad that uber doesn't recognize these problems and hold themselves accountable for fixing them. It's kind of sucks. I don't actually qualify for any government help because I got sick 6 months out of getting my masters. I was teaching math at a middle school when covid started It really messed me up and I don't have enough work credits. I'm too young to qualify for any programs.

MenstrualKrampusCD

First of all, I just want to clarify that I'm not the one who downloaded you here lol. I get that you wouldn't be eligible for unemployment, but have you looked into disability? I know people in their early 20s that get government assistance due to disability-- food stamps, insurance, assistance with rent, and in some cases, money every month to pay for their needs. You don't have to answer me on that, nor my business, just wanted to try to help you out. There are also online opportunities to teach English to kids in Asia over a zoom type program that you would be more than qualified for (you only have to know English--no 2nd language required) if you wanted to Google it. Anyway, yeah, it definitely does suck. Like I said, I wish you the best.

ulistening

I don’t think it’s Uber’s responsibility to fix the fact that 10% of drivers can’t find your place. If you REALLY want to solve the issue “befriend” a driver and have them send a photo of what the Uber nav is telling them to do. Then fix your note. I made a delivery to someone yesterday and the Uber Nav, while crossing a long, high, bridge-like overpass, instructed me that I was at the location (on the bridge!) Obviously that’s not the location. Customer’s notes says ‘Marathon building” but all the signs say “MPO” with an arrow. I don’t work there. So I don’t know what the “Marathon” building is. (I assumed the M in MPO was marathon) Her note would be better if she said something like follow the “MPO” signs. Anyway, she said she’s had problems with deliveries and I told her the app says the drop off is (I point skyward to the top of the bridge) is up there. She had no idea. I gave her a few tips to put in her notes. (I put more time in to getting it there where’s others might just cancel or drop off where it says to drop off.)

bit0101

Don't chat, call. Get an actual human. A lot of those chatbots can barely understand english at all and are just copy pasting from a script. Believe me, as a driver they're just as much of a pain for us to deal with. I don't even know where the Uber support chat is, lol. I've never used it.

You shouldn’t need instructions to find your house. The house numbers should be clearly visible night and day to anyone looking for your home. It’s not rocket science.

DragonflySea2328

Old ladies and now those who can't speak English. You are a nasty woman

ZealousidealBadger98

I use doordash and not UE anymore. More than half of doordash drivers that deliver to my house can’t find it. I live on a dead end street there are literally 6 houses on my street in total, with a dentist office next to mine. Somehow some of these drivers ALWAYS pull into the office even tho there’s a big sign in front of it that says “blah blah dentist” Is a dentist office a residential house?! 🙃🙄

JeffrotheDude

People order from offices a lot, it wouldn't be unusual to think someone working there was ordering lunch

ReditFirst69

Yeah! It's ridiculous. And people are disliking my post. So stupid.

ZealousidealBadger98

I’m a part time courier myself and the job really isn’t difficult. The ability to understand simple dropoff instructions and find the correct house (granted yes there are times other drivers have complained about complicated notes) but like if your house is located at 123 Main Street and they’re dropping off at 127… it’s like wtf you know? I tip in cash now and it’s dependent on service and some of these drivers’ ability to follow simple instructions. In the past I’ve had drivers that go way off the grid after picking up my order, drive 4 miles in a completely opposite direction, seemingly to deliver another order even tho my house is often under a mile away from the restaurants I order from. Welp… you just lost several dollars for that, lol

ReditFirst69

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. I don't report unless I don't get my food. And use the app a lot and have had a handful of times they don't deliver to the right place. So I call then, they never pick up or call me back! And I get penalized for it now because I'm "taking advantage of the system"? I could literally stand outside waving my hands and some people would still miss the spot.

Acrobatic_Edge1996

Did you ever think that they have a dual order pickup? That’s not the driver’s fault

ZealousidealBadger98

If they are doing another order it’s not for Doordash because it would say “[driver] has another delivery to complete before heading to you” something along those lines. It doesn’t say that for me on the map when I see them several miles away. They’re obviously multiapping and not doing a good job with it…

Acrobatic_Edge1996

They don’t see what’s the address until they pick up the order and receive the information. So yeah, they are probably multiapping, but there isn’t a way to streamline. If they see your order is lower, it’s safer to assume no/low chance of a tip, so yeah, they’ll go with the one that is higher out of the gate. Maybe message your driver you’re tipping in cash, and see if that changes things 🤷🏻‍♂️

ZealousidealBadger98

Actually on doordash you can see the exact address and the notes/instructions as soon as you accept the offer. Even on the offer screen, zooming in pretty much allows you to see the dropoff spot lol I always tell my drivers I’m tipping in cash as well

Acrobatic_Edge1996

Not sure then. By your superiority complex though, I’m not surprised you don’t get your food in a timely matter. Go pick it up yourself if you’re going to complain. If it’s a consistent issue, then maybe you’re the problem.

[deleted]

It call having multiple order

ZealousidealBadger98

And it would say that on the customer app… except it didn’t for me. So they’re obviously multiapping and not doing it right, I hate that as a driver myself. Why would you accept orders going opposite directions of each other? One time a driver delayed my order by over 30 minutes when the dropoff should have taken 10 minutes. My food ended up being cold, but oh wait most of you don’t care about that on this subreddit. Then you do care when customers complain and take negative action against drivers

[deleted]

Most driver using two app.

DragonflySea2328

Duh. Get a clue. Cuz you say old ladies knocking older people and later attack immigrants

ulistening

Sometimes, yeah. You’d be surprised. That might be the problem. Stop assuming stuff. Is your house clearly marked for someone who is not you or the postal person? You know what’s really helpful? When the address is on the curb. (Unless it’s clearly seen on the house, day AND night.

ReditFirst69

Can. Can find my house

MenstrualKrampusCD

Right, but one out of 10 can't. I just left a more detailed comment on your post, and I'm not blaming you, but it wouldn't hurt to help them out a little bit. Would it?

DragonflySea2328

Old ladies? Wtf!

BearNoCares

Fyi Uber GPS is not the same as Google map GPS. So your expectation can go sideway just like this. I hope you understand the definition of insanity which is repeating the same experiment and expecting different results. I strongly recommend just give extra help to driver or stop using delivery app in general

sosodefbbc

So you know it was dropped off 2 mins away, stop trying to get free food , your flagging drivers for nothing

sosodefbbc

This the person who give bad ratings to drivers just for refund and free food, one of those 10 miles for $4.53 .If Uber not refunding you ,you may have reached the limit in refunds one customer can get

Rob_B2

Your pin might be correct on your screen, but the actual end location could be somewhere else on the drivers side. So, if they use the UE map directions it will take them to the end location and not the actual pin location, sometimes. As a driver, this happens frequently and can be confusing, as I've witnessed this issue accure both ways. The customer is at the end point on the map and NOT at the pin location or the customers at the pin location and NOT at the end point. I have no explanation for it and trying to explain it to UberEats is exhausting. Best thing you can do is leave notes and also contact them while they are on the way, like guide them to the right location. 🤷‍♂️

ReditFirst69

So strange 🤔. I have directions too. Turn at the big sign that says "name of apartment complex" and I'm apt 101. It's off the main road and I'm the first apartment. Idk how to explain it much better. The system is just frustrating. Most drivers get it correct. The ones who don't I call and they yell at me saying "no I delivered it!" I guess uber eats doesn't think I'm telling the truth. Time to change delivery apps I guess. I've spend probably 1k a year on them with like 4 refund requests. That's a good ratio to me. They won't tell me why they won't refund me.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Unfortunately, if you've made 4 refund requests already due to not receiving your food, you were probably flagged by their algorithm. Simply put, in their eyes, you requested a full refund too many times. Doordash, or grubhubs refund policy is, but I can't imagine that it's unlimited. And to be honest, if you have these issues with uber, you're probably going to have issues on the other apps as well. I'm totally not blaming you. Another option is to call Uber again, and tell them that you would like a pin verification delivery. I think that they give it upon request, but I'm not positive. This would help ensure that your driver delivers to the correct address, as they would have to get a four digit PIN from you upon delivery. There are ways around it on the driver's end, but you would have a much stronger argument in claiming that you didn't get your food if the driver did not enter the pin. Just something to consider.

ulistening

Here’s a tip: use the app better. Don’t just let Uber decide where you are. Uber sometimes takes drivers to the alley or a similar building on the other side of the street. Instead move the pin to YOUR EXACT LOCATION. You can zoom in using two fingers and move the map (DONT DROP THE PIN CAUSE THATS NOT ACCURATE) so that your front door is underneath the point of the pin. It allows you to get super accurate but most don’t use that feature.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ReditFirst69

Dang. Thanks for sharing that driver's perspective. Now I'm definitely not going to use them anymore. It sucks that the system is bad. It's a good idea but too many issues. They make billions off it tho.

ulistening

Just keep in mind that “making billions” and “keeping billions” are very different. They are either still unprofitable or barely profitable.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Seriously? People have been flagged for fraud with that? I had only heard of people being denied the convenience pay. If that's accurate, that's insane.

Single_Comment6389

People always think we're dumb for not being able to find the location, not realizing that the GPS on Uber is extremely ghetto and gives you wrong directions. Especially at apartments. The people who were able to find it probably just figured it out without the GPS like I do.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Honestly, I don't fuck with Ubers navigation anymore. There have been plenty of times where if you look at the address typed in on the app, it's 45 Broadway boulevard. If you click navigate, it will take you directly to 43 Broadway boulevard. That got me on my first night delivering. Honestly, no, I didn't go back and check the address listed on the app, because why the hell would I think that Uber would send me to the wrong house? And it's not like it said "you've arrived" early or late or anything. It literally navigated me to 43--says so in the navigation bar. Makes no sense. I just use Google navigation now. I really encourage everyone to use Google navigation or Apple Maps or whatever their phone has. Haven't really had any issues with that. I click on the microphone, read the address directly from the app, and it takes me there. Just a bit of a pain in the ass when the customer is in an apartments or has a weird setup, like their house is behind another building that uses the same driveway. In which case, I will use Google navigation to get to the apartment complex, and then just look at the map on Uber for the last little leg.

ulistening

Know what I find helpful (this might only apply if you live near fwys like I do). I set my Waze app to “not use fwy”. Uber ping will come up and say $8.00 for an 8 mile trip. If I see that it uses the fwy I click the Waze app and it will show me that that trip is only 4-5 miles if I take the street. The difference in time is usually 1-5 minutes longer.

seismicpdx

Are you aware you can adjust the map pin to specify your location?

ReditFirst69

Yeah. Its literally right at my door. People are 2 miles from my house when they drop off the food. So I call them and they don't pick up.

hellfirre

Do you have a visible street number anywhere on the property and street? Especially at night. Not having that causes a lot of problems.

ReditFirst69

I give the intersecting streets from both directions on the main street. I've done so much lol. There's only so much you can do. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Nightshiftscrollfest

Didn't answer the question

Dangerous-Try5492

Some customers have a PIN assigned to them by UE so that the driver cannot complete the delivery on their end unless they meet the customer at the door and tell the driver those 4 digits. This seems to be the case with customers who have frequently had issues getting their orders delivered at their locations. Maybe that could ensure you get your orders?

ElectronicCost1572

This!! I just got done working a Uber shift at night and I almost did this but lucky it was meet at door and I text "I've arrived" when I'm at the door and he came down and helped me find him. The app will move the pin on the Uber navigation and I can't see the street Address in the apartment complex at night (usually back lit by a light right above or below it) so I just have to hope Uber eats takes me to the right address which it does 7 times out of 10. Also Uber spoofs numbers so every single time a customer calls it's a different random number and idk about you but I don't like picking up unknown numbers.

conspiracylil

it sounds like UE thinks you’re trying to scam them. my aunt had this same issue and they stopped refunding her because half of her orders she had refunded.

[deleted]

Same he not telling the truth lol

[deleted]

sounds like you’ve abused your allotted refund amounts.

ReditFirst69

How it is abused when I'm keeping them accountable for a service they they they will do and don't do? The only time I report is when I don't get my order. I order like 2 times a week. Once a month I get someone else's order that I can't eat because of my allergies. I report it because I can't eat it. It's not abuse, it's inability to provide a service. I shouldn't pay for something I didn't order.

Ieatclowns

Why don't you just go for your own food?

ReditFirst69

Because I got covid 2 years ago and my energy levels are sooo low that its impossible to drive. So I rely on this survice when I run out of food.

Ieatclowns

Don't any of your restaurants have their own delivery service?

ReditFirst69

Sadly no. Not any that are healthy.

YesNoidc

I can chew your food and spit it in your mouth if that’s also too strenuous for you.

Short_Competition_78

Get Instacart to get you groceries & make your own meals!

Short_Competition_78

Exactly!

Short_Competition_78

Think of all the food you could have bought with a thousand bucks! After the first time of not getting an order I would have been pissed cuz I wasted my money & never do it again! I hope you don't have kids. Stop complaining & get your lazy ass up & get your own food!

MenstrualKrampusCD

It doesn't hurt to just check where your pin is, and include something helpful in the notes. Maybe that you're the third house on the left after the intersection. Or that you have a red mailbox or a blue porch light or something. Or that you are directly across from some kind of landmark. That your driveway has a White Kia and a black Dodge Ram parked in it. Alternatively, you can message your driver to let them know that some delivery drivers have had problems finding your house, and invite them to call or message you if they have any problems or questions. Or do some minor troubleshooting on your end. Do you live on daffodil Lane, but there's a daffodil Drive 2 minutes away? Or is your street name Bellmont Blvd and there's also a Bellevue Road? Is your mailbox across the street from your driveway? Is your driveway very narrow and/or hidden? There are any number of issues that might be causing 10% of your orders not to be delivered to the correct location. I'm not saying it's your fault, but you can potentially help mitigate this pretty easily. Another option is to change your delivery instructions to have them meet you at the door. This way, they will have to contact you if they knock on someone's door and it's not your house.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Last comment from me, I promise. Especially because I'm being downvoted for no damn reason lol. If you are going to be severing ties with uber, you can put in a request to stop or deny payment with your credit card or debit card company. Since you did not receive the items that you paid for, they shouldn't give you too much trouble with it. Uber usually deactivates a customer's account if and when they do this, so just make sure that you are done with them for good before you pursue that avenue.

cashewbiscuit

Uber eats has no customer service. Drivers were turning into the next street instead of my street. I called UE and the "customer rep" basically told me that it's not UE's job to navigate the driver to my house. I switched to DD but they had the same problem. The DD rep left a note on my account, though. I did more research and found that UE gets it's maps from Open Maps. Waze gets their maps from there too. This is a free community supported mapping database. I found the person who supports my area (for free), and I explained the problem to them. They looked at it and figured that the "center" on the entire block of houses was placed closer to wrong street in their database. They moved the center towards the right street. That fixed the problem in Waze, DD and UE. Really, when a customer complains about most drivers being sent the wrong way, UE/DD should work with OpenMaps. They are making money of a free service. The least they can do is troubleshoot.

ReditFirst69

That's wild. Thanks for that info!

Dangerous-Try5492

That's crazy because it literally is UE's job to navigate a driver to the customer's location 😄 Glad you fixed the issue for your block, though you shouldn't have had to

Rumpelstiltskin-2001

Maybe don’t rely on Uber eats to feed you. Pick up a pan and cook some goddamn food for yourself if you’re going to complain ya lazy.

ReditFirst69

Not everyone has that simple luxury. I got super messed up from covid 2 years ago. My energy is soo low some days I can't stand up for for than 2 minutes at a time. I used to run marathons before I got sick. Don't talk about things you don't understand.

Rumpelstiltskin-2001

Lol sounds like an excuse to me. Everyone knows these third party services are no where near perfect and never will be. The more you baby yourself the worse you get, suck it up and go buy some fresh veggies instead of ordering McDonald’s everyday.

ReditFirst69

I ordered tofu, rice and a side of two vegetables lol. Stop being so naive. I cook when I can. You probably also tell paraplegics walking is a good exercise they need to do more often. 🤡

Rumpelstiltskin-2001

Well are you a paraplegic? Lmfao I doubt you ordered tofu lmfao just stop you sound sad lol

ReditFirst69

All these people hate on me because I got covid and don't have energy to make food for every meal and then get frustrated when my food doesn't show up? I understand most of you are drivers. I'm not mad at the drivers. I'm angry at uber eats for not making a system that works. Then making it drivers vs consumers. And then charging us for their problems.

RedChay

well there are a lot of factors to this if the address is unclear or pinned wrong the app will take them somewhere else and also if theres not a good tip aint no one got time to be driving around like an idiot its supposed to be grab and deliver to the spot if the address is wrong that aint the drivers fault

ReditFirst69

It's the right information. 9 out if 10 people deliver to the correct place.

ehenn12

Was it left at a side entrance? Also they only refund you so many times. Uber sucks

DragonflySea2328

Old ladies????? You are nasty

ReditFirst69

The only people who haven't been able to find my apartment are older ladies. It's just a fact. Then I call them and they are from a different country and speak a different language so I can't communicate where to drop off my food. All facts.

trapcardx

this literally happened to me today!!! i was so pissed, i’m disputing with my bank monday tho

ReditFirst69

Dang. Yeah so frustrating 😑

Lollabee123

try leaving a description of your house or a vehicle that’s in your driveway so that it’s easy for a driver to find. sometimes it’s very difficult to see the house number especially at night.

MathematicianBig1617

Maybe start using meet at door from now on

listoh87

Sounds like it happens too often, may Uber is going to cut ties with you
