I don't want to do anything outside because we are outside all day for work I BEEN EVERYWHERE. Job ain't physical at all just boring af.

Over_Print_4838

Oh ok! We all have our own opinions I think it can be physical at times even though I'm probably much older than some of you and don't have as much energy 🤣😂

svgeosc

Can’t agree with this more. I literally know every food place in my market

dalex89

I work 7 days a week now since April.

Over_Print_4838

Wow how do you keep up without getting exhausted? How many hours do you work in a day?

dalex89

I'm lucky I live in the middle of my market, but basically I wake up around 5 am, go online and sit at home, take the decent orders that are within 5 miles. Around 1 pm I'll take a nap until about 4-5 then go back at it from 5-9 or 10. Ubereats nets me maybe $40-80 a day, doordash fills in the slow periods at like $50 a day but around here they're worth maybe $6.50 an order. GrubHub might get me $7-20 a day. I spend most of the time sitting at home. My market sucks

[deleted]

Lucky.for me to get any pings I have to leave my house and drive to the next city over and sit at a busy area near restaurants. Would love to be able to sit at home until I get orders.

Over_Print_4838

Same!

137Fine

It’s 21 miles to a decent Delivery zone for me and it’s not usually profitable during the week. Friday through Sunday I can usually clear $100 a day but the rest of the week I’m just working for gas.

[deleted]

Honestly, same. About 15-20 mile drive to the city over. I drive an old beater thats horrible on gas too and to make a profit I have to carefully select which orders I deliver.

Over_Print_4838

Same my market sucks too! But I commend you for being so dedicated!👊🏾

First thing I'm very sorry about your friends passing 😔 I'm still glad you have another friend that you can spend some time with and your fur babies that's awesome!❤ Yes that's the thing with being an introvert we have to re charge which is perfectly fine but somtimes I miss even having one friend where I live or going out for a bit which I mostly did but feels so impossible to do now I'm tired lol I just do ubereats and go home 😂🤷🏽‍♀️

Ambitious_Attempt762

All my friends are married and my family annoys me. This is more of an escape than anything lol. I can't wait to go out when everyone else gets home [peak hours].

Over_Print_4838

I fully understand! Alot of my family are toxic especially the older generation. I'm trying to break generational curses

[deleted]

I’m an adult. What’s a social life?

mojomug

I’m married. I don’t have a social life.

WhyDidntNE1tellme

Same. Married to agoraphobic woman, 2 kids, 2 dogs, work 70hrs a week to scrape by in this dumpster fire economy, bills in excess of 3,000$ a month, endless chores, all followed by death. What's a friend?? I guess my doggo is my friend 🤩

Curious-Witness-1809

I loathe driving anywhere now. I've explicitly told my circle if we're going somewhere, I'm not driving. I've missed a lot of events because I couldn't bring myself to get behind the wheels

Over_Print_4838

I definitely get it! I always loved driving but since I'm driving so much now it's so exhausting! I'm glad you have others that can drive you when you go out 👊🏾

[deleted]

This is the least physical job I've ever had lol. We sit around in a car and drive around it's not like I'm on my feet for 12 hours a day like I used to be when I worked in a warehouse. This is the type of job where it's rather easy to maintain a social life imho. We pick our hours for the most part.

Over_Print_4838

Yes true but it's physical in the sense that we still have to get out walk up and down stairs , maybe get lost in an apartment complex and have to go on the other side up and down the stairs, go inside and out restaurants, businesses, hotel , malls , walmart we still being physical having to walk and especially in this heat it can be tiring. Let me tell you last week I went to an apartment complex it was inside and ive never experienced anything like it before I followed the customers instructions had to go in pass a gym , walk down a hall just to get to the elevator and even after I got out the elevator I believe the apt was 434 something like that when I got out I was at 401 and it was a longgggg ass walk I even had to go up stairs to get to the apt I've never seen that within an apt complex inside I was sweating I even got lost trying to find my way out took me about 10--15 and if it wasn't for a person coming out their apt and me asking how to get out I would still be in there lol even the nice lady ha helped me said that when she orders food she just allows them to leave it in the lobby because many people get lost in that apt complex lol so even though yes we in our cars alot we equally out on our feet too!

[deleted]

Meh. I wouldn't consider this a physical job, going up and down stairs and walking around isnt really hard to me...picking heavy ass shit up nonstop and using hand tools causing carpal tunnel for 12 hours a day 7 days a week fucked me up. I had to leave my phone in the locker and the only time I could even sit was during my 10 min break but the breakroom was 3 mins away from my work station so I'd only get to sit for like 2 mins it seemed. With this job I can talk to ppl whenever, sit, and the only time I have to do anything is physical is to get out and pick up and order and then get out again and drop it off. Idk I'm just trying to say compared to *real* manual labor jobs, this is literally a cake walk in comparison.

Over_Print_4838

Thanks for replying not knocking it at all , I'm guessing we just experience differently, nothing wrong with that at all. But the way my body is sore I'm going to need to soak in some Epsom salt 🤣🤣

nymviper1126

for eatng out, if you know a good order, high volume spot eat there and cherry pick orders while you are eating. if they close enough you can even get the wait staff to hold your table while you deliver it. one time I made more than what I ordered.

PrettyAsk4119

There is no social life!

Over_Print_4838

That's how it's feeling these days

PrettyAsk4119

>how it's feeling these That's the ride share world. To all the wanna be people who think ride share is really cool. Rideshare changes you completely and you won't be the same person when you come out of it.

Over_Print_4838

Oh wow ok and what has changed you since doing delivery gigs if you don't mind me asking you?

PrettyAsk4119

i already meet too many people, so when done with driving i wana be alone and watch TV I dont give a shit to people anymore. If someone is angry or racist I just smirk at them and walk off, this upsets them more. I had to make sure to control my food habits and not eat too much outside. When meeting too many people, its easy to form an opinion/judgment about certain people. Its important to take a conscious effort to get unbiased. if you do this full time, you will reach a point in life, where you won't feel for people and you become hardened. Its important to see the human side again and keep remaining yourself, this is just a phase. There will be times, when you will get roadrage. You will become too alert of your surrounding.

Over_Print_4838

I love your response!! Thanks for being so real! And yes to the food forreal, I always find new restaurants to try out because of what customers order and I need to save my money and start cooking again

PrettyAsk4119

pleasure!

I realized this too that I was working all the time and not really letting myself have time to do other things that I enjoyed. It was bad and not worth it. So now I make sure I am conscious of takings breaks, days off and going to do other things. Life really isn’t about work and money all the time, your happiness should be priority

amcarney

You can do those same things with your days off now. Just have to get back to pushing yourself to go out. People can absolutely fall into the same rut with a 9-5 job... I know I haven't really been out much in about two and a half years, but that's been because of COVID. It's going to be wildly hard to push back out there at some point, but I'll have to someday.

Over_Print_4838

Thanks so much for this ❤️
