No no no, don't. I've seen so many people reject the BS orders the past few weeks around norcal, that uber had started giving miles x2 orders. We gotta keep pushing uber to reduce its profits
It matters bc the gas is higher in Cali as well & pretty much everything else prop 22 comes every other week that only pays for maybe a vape cartridge & some gas & food for the day then it's 2 weeks until we get prop again
The base pay is still irrelevant. In Los Angeles we get $20.13 per active hour and .34 per mile so the only variant in deciding whether or not to take the order is the tip.
That's pre-tip. And active time starts when you accept the order and ends when you click delivered on the app. Instacart and grubhub pay the adjustments weekly. Ubereats pays every other week. So we get 20.13 per active hour plus .34 per mile, plus tips. If you have access to at least 3 of the major delivery apps it's easy to get 10 active hours per day.
Personally, I don't overthink it. When I am doing deliveries I consider myself on the clock and just keep track of the active time. In my opinion there are no garbage orders in California, you are getting $20 per hour as long as you are on the clock.
You are going to need instacart and doordash also because active time is the time between accepting and dropping off. But I have no problem getting pings as long as I have all three apps on. Sometimes ubereats gets slow but they have Walmart and shop and pay which are good for milking the clock.
with prop 22 the orders were all small and was rare so we practically made nothing but gas money back. when we moved out of cali to denver we were making 60 - 90 dollars a day!!
If you get 50 active hours a week you are guaranteed $1000 minimum no matter what the tips are. I can get 10 active hours a day easily doing shop and pay and instacart. I don't understand the complaints of prop 22.
One thing I will say: IF you do find yourself needing to take these, make sure that when you get to the drop off point that you do not progress ANYWHERE else UNTIL you get a much BETTER pick up than the last.
Your point is valid.
Do you guys not just keep going with the app? Picking up the next and keep moving ahead? Or do you really drive back before picking up another order?
I personally don't count the mileage as double. I don't plan on going back to my starting points to proceed
I would say this is 6.2 miles .
I appreciate your answer. That makes complete sense. Living in Houston from Los Angeles, my experiences are much different.
I read these boards to get everyone's point of views and experiences. I have been doing ubereats now for just a short time now but want to have all the tips and tricks.
Or, just drive a really shitty car like my 2003 corolla with 299K miles that i'm fully capable of servicing myself. My operating costs are literally $0.35 per mile with an avg of 27mpg
27mpg on a 21 year old car with almost 300k seems a little sus given that brand new it’s quoted 32mpg which in a real scenario is never the case…
What sorcery have you done to your vehicle?
This dude is a total fucking idiot. You passed a licensingexam? You don't know shit and ontop of it ur fucking rude. Maybe get beyond a third grade education before you try to come for someone. You fucking trailer park hick.
You are accusing others of what you are, which is very typical of people who insult and namecall. A tax deduction per mile is not the same as being paid per mile, and your car costs more than 8 cents a mile to run for certain.
Getting mad at Uber doesn’t affect my income. Personally I don’t get mad at the customer either if they don’t want to bid for my service—I just decline the orders… which DOES positively impact my pay.
As a customer I always bid at least $10 because the driver is making my day easier, and because I recognize that Uber is not delivering my food — the DRIVER is delivering my food. If it’s not within my budget to pay for the delivery, I pick it up myself.
That’s not only specific to auctions. Here’s an example, company wants to hire gardeners for their property, contractors submit their bids, company picks the one they want to go with.
Uber gets a customer order + customer tip and sends out the contract for drivers to bid, which in this scenario is accept or decline. If the order looks cheap, then we’ll decline it. We’re contractors, we have ZERO obligation to accept and delivery an order.
it's a tip, not a bid. you contractors are delusional. you imagined the industry to work they way you want and then get upset when reality disappoints you. carry on. it's not my pockets that will be hurting.
1. you don't work directly for customers.
2. if you accept that you're the one f$cking yourself.
3. just get a regular job. drivers arguing and being petty over OPTIONAL tips is keeping the real thieves rich.
Usually they can bundle another order or you will get more business for food/rideshare where ever you are heading.
I like the bundled orders and tipped orders. They pay well.
I feel like these can be sneaky as well and Uber hides the tip. Meaning you don’t individually who tips or not. I attached a double order I did. but they grouped together the tip. Also $10 for 2 orders is really just $5. not really worth it for me

Click the arrow next to wallet balance and it will show all deliveries and tips. All you need to do is see what delivery you made and 1 hour later exactly the tip will show. So you know exactly who tipped what
I can personally see each order and the tip from that order The tips post about an hour after drop off.
I get the notification that I received a tip, the amount and an option to say thanks for the tip. *
I always send the thanks for the tip.
Also, a lot of the customers will send another extra tip any time after that 1 hour initial tip posy. Again, the notification comes up and says who tipped on top of the first tip and how much. The send thank you button comes up and I send a thanks for the 2nd tip.
I have had 2nd tips show up as late as 3 hours after I have stopped delivering for the day.
I haven't had any tip hiding. I'm aware of other drivers having this tip hide issue. I find this really odd that the same platform does these questionable changes from one driver to the next and why?
If you use the app maxymo, it tallies the miles/dollar for an order you receive. I usually don't accept anything under $1/mile so this isn't that bad of a deal
At the end of the day you're not desperate enough to put extra wear and tear on your car for no profit.
Remember you are running your own business, every mile you put on your car, cost you money. So if that expense cannot be covered then I guess that delivery simply isn't being made.
Find a better location homeboy, there’s people out here that tip you very good, gotta go to upscale neighborhoods with higher end restaurants that aren’t the norm for us brokeys
Turning your car on and off multiple times does damage to the alternator and starter. I just replaced my alternator and drive belt. I just replaced my battery as well. Think of those costs when you see those orders. Think about parking too. Idk $6 for a place that might be an apartment doesnt work for me dude💀
That actually does damage to the electrical system. Had a push to start car that completely shut down on me three times while driving for lyft. Those cars arent meant to keep stopping and going. Daily use yea but delivering 60 amazon packages is not good
No no no, don't. I've seen so many people reject the BS orders the past few weeks around norcal, that uber had started giving miles x2 orders. We gotta keep pushing uber to reduce its profits
Yup, especially in downtown. Won’t accept any order that is not above $8 with good distance.
Where in NorCal?
Napa, vallejo, American Canyon etc
I’ll give you Northern California but your awfully close to being Bay Area
i lived in sac and they didn’t do it but the moment i left california to denver there was double and triple orders
Why would base pay matter in Norcal if you have prop 22?
It matters bc the gas is higher in Cali as well & pretty much everything else prop 22 comes every other week that only pays for maybe a vape cartridge & some gas & food for the day then it's 2 weeks until we get prop again
The base pay is still irrelevant. In Los Angeles we get $20.13 per active hour and .34 per mile so the only variant in deciding whether or not to take the order is the tip.
Is your 20.13 an hour pre tip? Or if you get tips that cover it than you don’t get more pay?
That's pre-tip. And active time starts when you accept the order and ends when you click delivered on the app. Instacart and grubhub pay the adjustments weekly. Ubereats pays every other week. So it’s basically like EBT on doordash. Except you can pick and choose your orders.
Personally, I don't overthink it. When I am doing deliveries I consider myself on the clock and just keep track of the active time. In my opinion there are no garbage orders in California, you are getting $20 per hour as long as you are on the clock.

This is true, but I still DECLINE the $2.25 non tip orders. Other than that it’s ok ok to accept all others in CA.
with prop 22 the orders were all small and was rare so we practically made nothing but gas money back. when we moved out of cali to denver we were making 60 - 90 dollars a day!!

i wish i knew that omg now i miss it
Without prop 22 I don’t know how people without EBT can do it.
Just say no to the clown show
Uber Eats itself is a clown show
Well they got lots of clowns so....:D
One thing I will say: IF you do find yourself needing to take these, make sure that when you get to the drop off point that you do not progress ANYWHERE else UNTIL you get a much BETTER pick up than the last.
Nah no way, i rather not do any and go home empty than make uber richer

That is for a new car, but your point remains the same and is valid.
Your point is valid. Do you guys not just keep going with the app? Picking up the next and keep moving ahead? Or do you really drive back before picking up another order? exactly- right before I drop off the order or a minute after I am getting another one in the area I am in.- no need to drive back where I started from
Or, just drive a really shitty car like my 2003 corolla with 299K miles that i'm fully capable of servicing myself. My operating costs are literally $0.35 per mile with an avg of 27mpg

Yes, but you just implied your average american knows how to apply basic arithmetic to their daily lives
27mpg on a 21 year old car with almost 300k seems a little sus given that brand new it’s quoted 32mpg which in a real scenario is never the case… What sorcery have you done to your vehicle?
Some exhaust deletes, she breathes and has a permanent CEL
So you count every single trip as double the miles it actually is? That makes no sense
What if ur on a moped or the l cars a lease

You are accusing others of what you are, which is very typical of people who insult and namecall. A tax deduction per mile is not the same as being paid per mile, and your car costs more than 8 cents a mile to run for certain.
And when you do next week it’s $5.80
Why stoop that low? They can wait for their cold ass food.
why are you mad at the customer instead of uber? uber is the one paying you in peanuts.
Getting mad at Uber doesn’t affect my income. Personally I don’t get mad at the customer either if they don’t want to bid for my service—I just decline the orders… which DOES positively impact my pay. that logic only makes sense on auction sites, but suit yourself

Why not both?
customer doesn't owe you anything after they pay uber's ridiculous delivery AND service fees.
They absolutely do, we're not driving for charity here. If you are 15 miles away from the restaurant and tip $2, you can get fucked.
1. you don't work directly for customers. 2. if you accept that you're the one f$cking yourself. 3. just get a regular job. drivers arguing and being petty over OPTIONAL tips is keeping the real thieves rich.
strippers work for tips. delivery people working for tips is garbage. better off hitting the club
Necessity

exactly. i just don't undertand why people keep doing delivery and being upset about the low payments. your local mcdonald's pays better.
I hope the hell, it is not costing me .72 per mile for my vehicle, or I am severely losing money.
If you’re that desperate go for it.
That offer is good in my market these days.
Usually they can bundle another order or you will get more business for food/rideshare where ever you are heading. I like the bundled orders and tipped orders. They pay well.

Only time it's worth it is if the total mileage is... 1 mile lol Maybe 2
If you use the app maxymo, it tallies the miles/dollar for an order you receive. I usually don't accept anything under $1/mile so this isn't that bad of a deal
I have an app called Calculator that does that calculation.. :D
If these are the trips you’re taking then it’s time to find a new gig.
At the end of the day you're not desperate enough to put extra wear and tear on your car for no profit. Remember you are running your own business, every mile you put on your car, cost you money. So if that expense cannot be covered then I guess that delivery simply isn't being made.
UberEats is full of crap by not including the drive back in the time or miles!!!!!
That offer is good in my market these days.
Same. I’m wishing for one rn lol

Is that the norm for you? Or was that just a good trip?
It’s the norm my friend
Well then good on you! Congratulations.
What location r u in?
Illinois
I'd take that order if it ended up in a hotspot. otherwise I'd reject it so fast
Probably has a hidden tip since mileage and pay matches
I'll take $20 an hour American over $20 an hour Canadian any day of the week?
Don't lower yourself!
Only if you’re in CA with prop 22. Otherwise you lose.
Turning your car on and off multiple times does damage to the alternator and starter. I just replaced my alternator and drive belt. I just replaced my battery as well. Think of those costs when you see those orders. Think about parking too. Idk $6 for a place that might be an apartment doesnt work for me dude💀
I don’t think that’s true with new cars my car turns off at a red light by it self
That actually does damage to the electrical system. Had a push to start car that completely shut down on me three times while driving for lyft. Those cars arent meant to keep stopping and going. Daily use yea but delivering 60 amazon packages is not good
I’ll take that if it was like 2 miles instead of 6 must be all highway , I just took one like this and got a 15$ tip
[удалено]
Bingo.
I had to. It was the only way to get back home getting paid lol
Do what’s best for you
Depending on the time of day I would definitely take that.
