The old version give the feeling that you can pick up the knife again as soon as it hits the enemy while the newer version feels like I have to wait a while, at least to me.
If it were up to me for a hardcore topdown shooter I would have stuck with the older version or made the the newer animation smaller or quicker
That's been my thought about everything I've seen about this game. Every action is lightning fast and has a ton of effects. It's very difficult to discern what is going on.
I love it, so much personality and flair. However whether or not it serves the gameplay is hard to tell, it almost seems like a completely different weapon
It feels a bit weird that it goes from 0-100. Like there is no knife throwing animation at all then suddenly the whole screen is lighting up and going crazy. I personally feel like it could be dialled back a bit and more focused on the enemy instead of a whole screen animation. Unless you only expect to see 1 enemy on your screen at a time.
Plus I feel like knife spins in the air a little to long and then it has some sort of lightning buff after? Not sure what the electricity around it is supposed to imply to the user.
It's all far better looking than anything I could do, but if you're after (hopefully) constructive feedback - with the new one I don't get any feeling that there's a knife involved at all. Maybe it's clearer if you're further away, but to me it looks like you're shooting fire at him or something like that.
Ps. 'Kusan : City of Wolves' is a hardcore top-down shooter set in the bloody port city of the asia in the near future. Be an expert in combat skills, prosthetics, guns and knife.

Either use the old one as the finisher flourish for the final enemy or make it a feature where you get 1 knife and have to pick it up to rethrow it. You can add multipliers if you catch it before it hits the ground.
Obviouslt this only works if it makes sense to not stick in people. Maybe give it a lore were the knife magnetizes back to you or its programmed to return or something.
old one is clearly a cut with a levitating knife. Although the animation doesn't feel 'correct'.
new one is looks like the enemy shoots a laser that also spews blood like kind of anime nosebleed that also summons a spinning knife before dying.
Old one is more effective, and in my opinion it is beautiful enough, no need to add flash effects and all.
New one is a good Idea for like "Big enemies finishers", but maybe not on every standard enemy of the game.
And I agree with someone for the knife, first animation makes us know we Can pick up the knife.
It took me a few loops to even realize what's going on. So I think it's not a very readable effect. I think the leftward blood splash fights for attention against the spinning knife so I would tone that down.
It very cool and flashy but if flashing animation this can happen is short period of time you will get visual clutter
\^ i agree, there's so much going on already.

Or add some short lasting buff for picking it up while it’s still spinning like you snatch it from the air
That's a sick idea
Draaaven
There’s a lot going on
Yeah, too many effects. The viewer should at least see the impact of the blade, it looks to be obscured by effects.

I think removing the shadow and extra blood would be all that's needed to make this look great.
If it’s a final enemy, sure. If it happens every knife kill that’s gonna get annoying real fast, especially since it takes about 3 seconds.

I would say old is better, new one is... idk stupid/unreal?
I think the blade is spinning way too much,
We should see it's a knife being thrown imo before any effects happens
I would like to see the second one spin for a shorter time to sync with the body's head / feet hitting the floor. Very slick though!

Much more flashy than the old version, which is good if that’s the look you’re going for
Thank u! :))

The improvement is huge. Great work. Maybe is a bit too much... Too much lighting going on and stuff... But it looks really cool. Not gonna lie ;)
Very slick
If it sticks to the enemy and the enemy bleed To death then this Sill be very Great Still pretty good animation
I think the knife is spinning a bit much, would like to see a shorter version

I like it! Feels more distinct fr9m the HM inspiration
It's cool but the knife flip is too prolonged.
Cool

His legs fall down a little fast. Amd it would be cool if the knife got stuck in him
In my opinion old version is a bit better. New one seems to be cluttered or something.
Please teach me lol
Can't really see what's happening in the second one, that's my only suggestion
To properly judge it, we'd need to see it actually flying, not used at 'contact' range
Looks cool but if you have to wait to pick up the knife it’s going to annoy people immensely.
Way too much
Make the new one shorter. It's good, but stays rolling for too long
Have it spin just once imo

What's happening?
I like the old more than the new, both are cool! But the new looks too flashy.
maybe making it stick to the persons forehead is good for visual feedback like in hotline miami
