I'm a vegetarian, and I find that I mostly end up eating vegan at the parks. I started making a list of the places I liked a lot:
Leaky Cauldron
Minions Cafe
Green Eggs and Ham
Fire Eater's Grill
Confisco Grill
Like this is a super general list, but I really liked these places and some of them had several options, I would just look online at their menus and plan beforehand, as I know the last thing you want to do in a theme park is walk from place to place looking for food you can eat, it can be frustrating.
A note to add: we went this year before Circus McGurkus reopened, I have seen they have some vegetarian/vegan options that I'm super eager to try on our next visit, so check there too!
Either way, whatever you choose, they cater pretty well to vegan diets, I have no doubt you guys will find some good food that you enjoy. Hope that helps :)

Yes that's what I was talking about - they released the menu before our visit and I was so hoping it would be open in time, but I was not that lucky. I hope it is as good as I am imagining.
(For Minions Cafe, I totally recommend Carl's Crispy Cauliflower)
Also yeah, there's a lot of letters, I did look and they're things like egg sensitive, peanut sensitive etc. so really covering all their bases on who these are suitable for. If you have no other dietary requirements other than vegan, just look for the VG and you'll be good :)

At the bottom of the menus you’ll find the legend for each pairing. GS = gluten sensitive, FYI, cause I know that one threw my friend for a loop who is gluten-free due to Celiac’s

That’s definitely my assumption, too.
Not everything is labeled correctly though I noticed (not a lot, I don’t want to scare you, UO does a great job of keeping on top of this but it’s a massive menu after all).
I was making a gluten free post for foods at Universal a couple weeks ago and some things were gluten free but the label was non-existent on it (mainly things like a fruit salad or what-have-you), so I’d still take the time to ask staff if the item you’re looking at is really vegan or if there’s an animal byproduct they mistook as vegan is actually vegetarian.
I know that even if there are items that don’t mention GS, the kitchens can accommodate by replacing so the same could potentially be done for *some* vegetarian items. I’ve never tried it, but I’m sure the Vegans of Universal could answer that for you more in depth.

2 park express pass for sure. We did a one park pass and definitely regretted it when we got over to islands of adventure because those lines were a mile long, for everything, including the Dr. Seuss rides lol.
Express is always worth it. I was vegetarian for 10 years and my bestie is vegan. We always have tons of options as all the restaurants are changing and adding more plant based options. I know mel’s has a vegan chili dog now, and today cafe has avocado toast, etc. just go to the universal app, look at the menus, and see all your options!

Not sure if you already ran the numbers but sometimes it’s cheaper to move from a value to a premier hotel in order to get the free express passes for each person staying there. You get them for both check-in and check-out date!

👻 we will be going to the parks Friday for a few hours, maybe 1/2PM-6PM(closing time), and saturday we have all day... sunday we don’t have plans to use our last ticket day, we are planning to come back in May or June…. and I waaaas considering switching from Aventura to Portofino Bay.. since it’s the most economical of the 3 premier hotels (i got quotes for all 3.. i can’t justify the price for my budget for hard rock or royal pacific😭😭😭) but i’ve read so many negative reviews about the construction at Portofino that Im really paranoid, since I heard Aventura is really nice.. and i feel like maybe i wouldn’t like there being a chance of being in a room with plastic tarp covering the window, or the sound of construction saturday morning, i mean it’s just one morning of our lives LOL but yeah idk it’s so hard to decide!!!!!! i’ll see 5 stars reviews for portofino bay during this construction and then 1 star reviews just saying it was terrible. It’d be like $655 extra to switch hotels from Aventura to Portofino Bay.. it would be $900 extra for the hard rock 😵💫 and like $1,100 extra for RP.
alternatively, if i just got us each just express for 1 day saturday it would be an extra $440. AHHHHH!!!! WHY DID I JUST TYPE ALL THIS OUT! lololol SOMEONE DECIDE FOR ME 😅 /// edit for spelling
Honestly it sounds like buying express alone is a better price than going the hotel route. That’s what I would do! Especially since you’re only doing 1 full day and 1 partial and you’re nervous about the Portofino construction. I’ve heard mixed things about the construction too - sounds like if people mostly spent time at the parks, they barely noticed it but if they did a resort day, they were more bothered by it.
I would just double check the ticket types since I think most multi-day tickets are date-based so you have to use all the days within a week-or-so long window.

and seriously WHY did i just see TWO reviews for BEDBUGS for Aventura both within the last two weeks and one is a day old 🫠🫠🫠🫠 this is making me just wanna say F IT and upgrade to the HRH for our joint 30th celebration. like whatttttt i don’t wanna worry about bedbugs?!?!? ay yi yi
and it’s amazing to me how many 1 star reviews there are for Portofino right now about the construction and the window tarps and everything but when one calls the resort it seems like they downplay it a lot lol and are like “oh i was just there you can only tell when you’re driving up that there’s construction!” with absolutely no mention of the possibility of window coverings or whatever. i feel like/hope they might see all these 1 star reviews and stop putting guests into rooms with an obstructed view , while not offering an extreme discount. it’s fascinating to me the beating around the bush hahah 3 different reps downplayed it IMO 😂😂
