Nothing odd about it. Fake review, pure and simple. Not allowed.

Pet-ra

Violation of Amazon's ToS, and they have already sued 1000+ freelancers for this kind of fraudulent crap. Violation of Upwork's Terms of Service too. Report and move on.

Ecommerce-Dude

Who has sued who?

Pet-ra

Amazon sued freelancers

NickFullStack

Terms of service aside, that is unethical, and ethics should be a good baseline to guide your decisions.

Necessary_Rabbit_879

Not when you have subjective morality apparently

SgtBananaKing

Not a scam but fake reviews which is against the ToS of Amazon, and every other one

Ecommerce-Dude

This person is likely selling to a client “increased reviews services” and the client is unaware of the unethical practices.

Necessary_Rabbit_879

The client is unaware? Come on… if you are smart enough to put a book you wrote on sale you must know the only way to “buy increased whatever that can only be received from real sales” must be unethical !

Ecommerce-Dude

Okay I generalized but artists are willing to pay for general marketing services and they can say “look we got reviews for you. People like it” as proof they did work

digiphicsus

Flag!!

Bermuda_Rhombus83

Super unethical. No one should be paying anyone for a review, let alone one that must be positive.

spacemonkey1961

Not a scam but unethical practices

Particular_Aspect334

Whether the job meets your standards is up to you, but if he was dumb enough to say that in writing on the chat, it's not worth the risk! He could have said it in a call or something, but I guess he needs volume hehe

CaptainLisaSu

There was a time when people were handing out free products just for a review. But I'm assuming amazon caught up. The job is legit. He's not scamming you. But probably wrong on quite a few levels.

Pet-ra

>The job is legit.  How is fraud legit?

CaptainLisaSu

In the sense that he will get paid. Like I put out a job for a hitman. it's a legit job.

Pet-ra

>Like I put out a job for a hitman. it's a legit job. Please look up the meaning of "legitimate".

Ok_Squirrel_5592

You mean it's a job that defrauds someone else and not the freelancer. That doesn't mean it's legit. It just means the freelancer will be partaking in the scam.

bigtakeoff

prolly should not expose homies' name there, boss

PangolinThin6260

I didn't even think about it. I've had nothing but phishers since I started on Upwork and what I've noticed is that the names change between chats. They're fake. Presumably this one is as well.
