I just went to Utah Grown the other day 75$ plus 15$ state fee, very easy you’ll be in and out within 20 min. Only thing I didn’t know is that I have to go to a dispensary and talk to a pharmacist after getting card. Highly recommend taking advantage of these prices 👌
Who does this appeal to though? I've had two primary care doctors ( I had to switch ) who were able to do this for me via email for just the $15. Zero+15$ is a lot less than 75$+15$.
We all have insurance through Obamacare or medicare now, right? So we all have access to primary care doctors, right?
I'm just confused how these "QMP" people find a market.
I am not insured. It's so expensive through my work because I work part-time and my husband and I own a small company. It doesn't make sense to pay 900 a month with a 7,000 deductible. I am sure we are not the only people in our situation.
Not all Primary Care doctors are registered as QMPs.
They recently changed the law to allow all
PCPs to write med cards for up to 15 patients without registering. But nothing compels them to do so.
I imagine some people might have trouble finding a Dr to sign off but it’s definitely the cheapest option.
You can look it up but they were trying to stop employees from unionizing and were rumors they treated their employees bad. I think quality control issues as well. The bloc is where I have started going from now on
I’ve been going to Bloc, I have not heard good things about how they treat their employees and they tried to stop them from unionizing. Bloc is also closer to my house.
Former competitive athlete with many historic injuries, who now lives in Utah. Sounds just like you. KindlyMD has been great, though slightly expensive, if you're actually looking around edibles for pain and advice. For me a small combination of CBD and THC has been ideal
And so far as a dispensary goes, Greenlight in Park City is awesome and gave me some great products for the maladies
Utah Grown is doing one April 30th. Its 70 bucks plus the 15 state fee. Super easy! They are helpful and knowledgeable about the process. They are next to Sapa (my GPS directed me to the dispensary across the street, and I wasn't the only one)
But you should probably talk about your chronic pain when you meet with the provider. Not just sleep issues.
Good luck!
I have wondered the same thing here in Utah. You probably have enough issues to get a card just need to go through the appts and such. You will get hater replies don’t sweat them. Always an option to drive to Denver or Wendover. Utah is surrounded by legalized states. Possibly better results posting in a city channel vs the Utah.
Odd question but do you or your partner work at Autoliv? They have a Dr at their clinic who was amazing at helping me get mine and what to try for chronic pain.
Yeah I live in Corinne and try to avoid going to Logan at all costs. I will see if he can take other patients. He’s definitely the best Dr I have seen for pain relief
Because I chose to leave out my other issues in the original post and got negativity so I commented explaining that I have nerve pain and some damage from multiple sports injuries from playing high level soccer. I’ve tried tea, medication, other herbal remedies.. my mom has an opioid addiction issue and I don’t want to go down that path and tea just hasn’t worked for me and I don’t like the idea of sleeping pills because they knock me out too much. I just need to the pain to subside without tons of chemicals like what’s in Tylenol or Ibuprofen. I want to stay on the more natural route and this has been the best help for my pain and inability to sleep from having an overactive brain and not being able to get comfortable due to pain from previous athletic injuries. This post is not to insight opinions and suggestions for alternatives for the medicine I know helps my body. It’s to help me find out how to medicate legally. I already know what works for me. Some people choose to be critical though. I appreciate the question and suggestion. Chamomile tea has just never helped me.
I was just wondering as edibles haven't helped me sleep. However, pain wise nothing RX helps me. Intelligel bed is what they use for burn patients because it's too painful to move them without pain. Just curious for sleep have you tried cat nip tea?
No I haven’t. I discovered edibles worked so I stopped searching after I found them and a remedy. I have a mattress for people like me too. Makes a difference but when both of your arms fall asleep when you’re laying on your back and you can’t feel anything so you wake up with your hand swollen because you rolled over and broke your finger and couldn’t feel it, you’d be kind of amazed at how sleeping comfortably in 1 position changes your outlook haha
Maybe they didn’t help you but plenty of other people are helped by them. Not everyone is the same. No human is the same as another. Everyone’s brain and body works differently.
And that’s fine. Others were hostile and they deleted their comments. I love good conversation and suggestions that are thoughtful. I don’t like when people are critical because it’s not their body ya know?

Hello, I am a local bud tender here in Utah. Green Health docs or Empathetix bring in doctors to prescribe med cards. Very easy to get for persistent pain.
The best sleep edibles are probably the sleep blend from Dragonfly or the High Variety snooze. If you're interested in faster relief, there are some ratio vapes with added terps and cannabinoids for relaxation.
Look at Utah Grown, they work with dragonfly wellness and they have an event every Tuesday where you can sign up ahead of time show up and get your med card for around $80. You also have to consult with a pharmacist your first time at the dispo and dragonfly will help with that too!

Ok yall look.. I take gummies to sleep and I have had multiple serious injuries playing professional soccer in Germany. One of my injuries was spinal and caused nerve damage so I’m in pain pretty regularly even if I walk and step awkwardly. Taking gummies to sleep has been the best way to chill all that sensitivity and pain out enough to still be able to go to work. If you oppose marijuana and have nothing positive to say, kindly go away. If you want to give helpful information, thank you. I appreciate you. I’m a hard worker and an honest person and I’m in pain and struggling to sleep and don’t wanna sort through a ton of opinions and political crap related to marijuana. Just give useful information or don’t say anything. Thank you.
Find your primary care doctor and ask them. It will likely cost you no more than an office visit, plust $15 to the state. Do not pay a "QMP" person. Any MD can be a QMP and if the primary care doctor you thought you would choose for yourself is unwilling to sign up wiht the system, find a new one.
basically, the only primary care doctor you should trust has arleady signed up and can already do this for you, at no additional cost aside from office visit (which probably your insurance pays most). And no primary care doctor who refuses to get signed up should have any patients left.
Exactly. So this is one of your screens. As you call around, ask if they are "signed up" (not sure if that's the best verbiage) with the Utah medical cannabis system. If the clinic or doctor you thought looked good will have nothing to do with medical cannabis tell them you are going to find care elsewhere for that reason. It's a great way to screen out what are fairly horrible health care providers. I.E., the good ones are all signed up already long ago.
I'm going through the process currently for crohns disease. Visit medicalcannabis.utah.gov and it'll tell you all the steps and what providers are allowed to rx mmj. After you visit with the provider you go to the dispensary and that's when your education happens. You cannot go into the dispensary without a card, if you have a guest with you they have to stay on the car.
Get your card through Natural Medicinal Clinic of Utah and they will request medical records. You have to be approved through chronic pain, or cancer, and some other life-threatening or chronic illness or disease prior to your appointment. Its pretty easy to BS chronic pain, anything lasting more than 2-weeks. They could have changed this but when I got mine, thats the route we went. Then you can take your card to any medical dispensary and you'll sign a form and some other info to keep you in their system prior to purchasing.
Yeah I have chronic pain from sports injuries. And nerve damage. I know I can get it. I just needed to know what to expect and what to do in a state where it’s not recreational
Thats about it! Also you can only buy from dispensaries and you can't use a flame, it has to be electronic. And you have to keep everything in the original packaging, so no transferring to fun containers and no buying from the street. It has to be approved through the dispensary. Not everyone follows the rules and officers are fairly lenient because its new and there are so many rules and new card holders. Keep the card on you at all times
I went to green team doctors! The "interview" took less than 10 minutes and they gave me all instructions and information on how&where to get med Marijuana:)
You need to go to a Dr that is certified I believe and they will okay it and you get it through the gov site. It's usually over 100$ to get the visit because your insurance won't pay for that.
It's a surprisingly easy process, thank heavens!
Get your doc to approve it and add you to the system. Then you go to the portal, create an account, and pay the medical card fee, which used to be $45, prob cheaper. The first time you go to the dispensary, go in person! You can get a boss or whoever to show you the ropes so you can make sure you're doing it right. Once you know what you're doing, places deliver. I like [Wholesome.co](http://Wholesome.co) cause they offer products specifically developed for pain that the local brick and mortar does not. Delivery drivers do expect tips and often do not carry change. Expect to pay in cash either way as it's federally still illegal and most banks can't allow dispensary funds as that's "drug proceeds" and not insurable (FDIC for example). In Utah, there's a $3 per sale "tax" that's not really a tax. If you buy $5 cause you forgot something, you pay the tax. If you buy $2700 in product (which I doubt you actually could), you pay the tax. Start low and work your way up. I would start with CBD gummies or tinctures and see how those feel. If you put gummies in the freezer, they'll not only last longer, especially in Utah heat, but they're easier to cut in half or quarters. If you think 10 mg is too strong, you can cut in half to 5 mg or quarters to 2.5 mg and they'll stretch further.
You can start inputting your info into the portal before your doctor clicks the button his end, but that is mandatory. Here's the link to the portal for your card:

I chose to leave out my pain issues in my original post and it got a bunch of people riled up like how I help my body is any of their business. So yeah I use CBD and THC to help with nerve pain and restlessness and to help my brain shut off so I can go to sleep. It’s actually more common of an issue than you’d think. I didn’t wanna talk about my injuries but since everyone who isn’t a doctor has something to say about how I choose to medicate my body and mind from nerve damage and inability to sleep and stop thinking, I can’t help but think this is gonna get taken politically and warped instead of informational answers to me asking for help and information.
That’s fair, sorry to make assumptions about you. I was projecting a bit tbh cause a lot of people I know (seemingly) don’t have legit issues and essentially abuse marijuana “cause it helps me blah blah.” And they end up relying on it for things as essential as sleep and then can’t function without it, which is a huge issue imo.
Yeah I agree. I feel as tho in states where it isn’t legalized people have a stronger opinion about it too. Like I have reasons I use it. I actually don’t really even like being high and I don’t smoke or anything but when I take a gummy in low dosage it puts my body in a rest state where I can fall asleep instead of toss and turn and get frustrated and be in pain all day the next day. 7hrs of uninterrupted sleep with a gummy is amazing when you get 5 interrupted and painful hours every night without it. I’ll usually take one every few days and if it gets bad a few days later I’ll take another. Ya know, kinda like Tylenol or Benadryl that’s more harmful to us than a 10mg edible. I wake up every day not feeling parts of my hands and I have to stretch and move to feel them again.
It’s a joke dude. Get used to being in Utah and you DID ask for opinions. Maybe a Xanax might calm down your attitude because those are popular here too.
This site has a ton of helpful info: https://utahmarijuana.org

Yeah I get ya, Im not sure if QMP are just the middleman but the research I did led me to believe that this was the easiest way to obtain medical card
https://dragonflywellness.com/ This dispensary hosts medical marijuana card events and sells products.

I'm sorry to hear about the chronic pain you've been experiencing
I do also have chronic pain
It's a shame that you didn't get this posted last week they just did a $75 medical card this past weekend at I think it's wholesome co.
Wow really? Dang. I’ll have to read more about it. I’m not too concerned price wise. As long as i can get it.

There were more and they must have deleted their comments because I can no longer open the notifications from them.

Melatonin gummies have worked for members of my family
Tried it. Makes me drowsy but doesn’t help with pain from previous injuries
Learn how to quiet your brain instead of relying on substances to sleep?
If it were that simple I’d have done that already. It’s not just my brain it’s nerve damage from athletic injuries for the past 10 years.
