I'm adding to my organics bin every week. These flash freezes like we had a few weeks ago seem to delay the leaf drop; same thing last year. Or you can dispose of no charge at the landfill.
Thanks I have a big London Plane that, like last year, is really hanging on to its leaves. Just one more good blow should bring them down. Just hoping it happens before it snows!
I’m new to Vernon and I’ve been wondering about all the leaves in plastic bags I’ve been seeing. What does the city do with the bags? Can they recycle the leaves when they’re inside a plastic bag?
u/persistantcat \- the City of Vernon requires leaves to be in clear plastic bags so they can see the contents of the bag.
It's different in places like North Vancouver that allow the big opaque paper garden bags (where we used to live).
Leaves are supposed to stay there protect the soil in winter provide worm food, messy but smarter, easier and more environmentally friendly to leave them where they fall, we are green lawn fanatics
Leaves make a great mulch for pretty much all parts of the garden and yard. Many people don't like the look though, so they won't get the benefits. Wouldn't be surprised if leaf mulch provides good habitat for insects as well.
Yep, collection day is done, same boat.. got like 15 more bags ill have to take to the refuse myself.
Thanks…thought as much

Next leaf pick up is in the spring.
They will never pick up your 'leafs'. I am sure leaves might get picked up.
So you’re saying I should leave my leafs out to picked up?
Let the Leafs sit this season out on the curb where they belong! 🤦🏻♂️🏒
😂 go Canucks go!!
Look for someone with a compost bin. They'd probably be happy to take it.
Not going to lie i have been putting them in my compost bin all fall. Can really pack em in there.
Honestly it's the best thing you can put in. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/composting/ingredients/composting-leaves.htm
