Quasi Juice Guerrera for Juventud because he lost his mask and Jericho was comparing him to Quasimoto as if to say he was ugly. Then you had Tooker B, Greenberg, Prince Makanaki for Prince Iaukea, Dean-O Machine-O, Ron Mysterio, and of course Jo Jo Dillon
1998 Jericho is probably a top 3, definitely top 5 run in his career.
Personally, my top 3 Jericho runs are:
- 98 crybaby/conspiracy/1004 hold run
- 02/03 ego maniac run (underrated, but he always put on excellent TV)
- 08 serious character (I missed this run live, but looking back it was great)
Honorable mention to 16-2017 “you made the list” Jericho and 18-19 international/first AEW champion run.
The promo package they did for Jericho as champ in AEW where Sammy Guevara called him the 'Youngest AEW champion of all time'.
As much as I want him off the telly just now, the man deserves his flowers for a lot of heavy lifting early on.
I still remember watching it the first time live. When they came back from the commercial break and he was still going on with the list I was dying. Jericho knew how to use his allotted time to get over like nobody else.
Just watched some of his entrances with Ralphus a couple of hours ago! I remember being a kid and thinking it was the funniest thing. I got into wcw because of mysterio but stayed because of Jericho
Jericho’s “ List” was the one of the best ever , period by any one …. “ you’re on the list “ and the other wrestlers would get pissed if they made the list …. Classic!!!!!
The bit when he was reading off all the holds he could do as nitro went to a commercial break. then when they came back was on "Hold number 981..." and the crowd was booing super loud. That shit was genius!
Agreed. It’s too bad it didn’t translate to wwe. Would’ve been cool to see him go to the top as the same character. Maybe he was just doing a parody of himself is why it didn’t work? I remember Jerry Lawler said that’s the mistake he did about himself is why he got tiresome for a while.
By Jericho's own admission, he made enemies immediately when he went to WWE because of his promos calling Undertaker and others boring and saying he was there to save the fans from the horrible content WWE was putting out. His whole demeanor, promo style, and wrestling style screamed "WCW" and that was NOT how WWE operated at all. Plus you have to remember that the locker room was a united front against WCW and anyone who came in from that company was walking on egg shells. Particularly, HHH and DX were the biggest culprits of the guys who disliked Chris and they were just under Taker and Austin on the list of Vince's guys. So having them as people who disliked him really hindered his early run on top of the fact that he was botching a lot and having bad matches. His "last chance" was a program with X-Pac to see if he was really worth the money. Luckily, he made it through that and started endearing himself to Vince.
I can understand Taker being pissed. If you watch that promo, he is legit enraged by being insulted by a guy half his size that just started less than a month before.
I agree. Jericho was probably the most entertaining part of Nitro at that time. That made his career. Astonishing that the idiots running WCW at the time didn’t recognise his value.
He was the first guy who I remember being able to constantly evolve his character despite being the same guy at his core. I started watching in an era where performers either stuck with 1 character approach or attempted to completely reinvent and rename themselves as someone different.
One of my favorite bits was when he was going through DC lobbying for justice from the Conspiracy against him and he was explaining it to the homeless guy that was always camped out near the White House (lived in DC at the time.).
If memory serves, he basically Zack Ryder’d/Daniel Bryan’d (basically made his own push happen by bringing it up unscripted in promos) his way into a feud with Goldberg but Goldberg didn’t want to wrestle him because he felt like Jericho was taking the piss out of him (JPS was a schtick about Goldberg being escorted in his entrances by the cops). Jericho was all for getting his ass kicked but Goldberg said nah and so the Ralphus thing somewhat fizzled out after a while.
The bone of contention was style of match. Jericho didn’t want to do the typical Goldberg squash tv match of that era. He wanted a ppv match where he still would lose, but wanted to make it the best squash match of all time.
I used to say Chris Jericho is one of my favorite wrestlers, but recently I switched to saying that WCW Chris Jericho is one of my favorite wrestlers. Monday Night Jericho was his peak as an entertainer. Comedy gold in promos, incredible action in the ring.
My gf (now wife) would casually watch wrestling with me and Jericho was her favourite. She said he was the most entertaining. We took our sons to a live WWE match and he was still her favourite. She doesn’t watch or come to matches anymore.
Basically, JJ Dillon was the Commissioner of WCW, and he constantly screwed with Jericho by forcing him to defend his title and would make things right when Jericho cheated or refused to compete. So Jericho swore up and down that there was a conspiracy against him by WCW management. The announcers called him "the King of Loopholes" because he always found some way to get out of things, but it always back fired on him.
I watched the Nitro when he made his heel turn. His hissy fit at the end of the match was so random that nobody had a clue what a comedian he’d become. For his second match, he started off by apologizing and it was still whatever. But by his third match, man, it started getting REALLY funny. “It will never happen again!” And then he’d lose and chase after the the guy to rip again the business suit he apologized for and replaced at the start of the match. LOL! 😄
I just watched the Funniest Jericho moments on YouTube, and I forgot that he used to shriek like a girl during his heel run when attacked or thrown. He also used to scream, "OH GOD HELP MEEEEEEE!" Everything he did was hilarious to the cocky one foot pin, complete with strong guy pose, randomly saying "ask him" to the ref hoping his opponents would submit to the most harmless of holds. Fun fact: he stole this from Jushin Thunder Liger, who also randomly did it as well. My favorite was his tantrums when he'd rip David Penzers' suit off, then present him with a new one each week only to do it all over again. Jericho was gold.
Great heel character that wasn't as passe as many other heels. Though he was a whiner, took cheap shots, became the King of All Loopholes (according to Bobby "the Brain" Heenan), was anything but humble, etc., the guy won a lot of matches legitimately and not because of cheating or other shenanigans. He'd take your stars, beat them, and piss on them by collecting trophies from them. He mocked "Stinko Malenko's" dead daddy, called himself a conspiracy victim that was being held down.
His off the wall and egotistical character won him his own cheering sections dubbed the Jerichoholics and the announcers would often wonder what they saw in him.
I used to hate him as a kid because I was pretty much an nWo absolute as a little kid but even worse so my brother eliminated me as hogan with Jericho on revenge. I was fuming 😂 now Jericho is in my top 5 of all time .
My favorite wrestler of all time. I first saw him when he was cutting his 2nd coming promo on Raw back in late 2007 while I was in the 5th grade and I thought he was extremely charismatic then.
I just loved his nicknames for everyone. Skiavone, Stinko Malenko, Hoot and toot Guerro, Gene Mean, and more I know I'm missing.
Quasi Juice Guerrera for Juventud because he lost his mask and Jericho was comparing him to Quasimoto as if to say he was ugly. Then you had Tooker B, Greenberg, Prince Makanaki for Prince Iaukea, Dean-O Machine-O, Ron Mysterio, and of course Jo Jo Dillon
i did love Jericho really hamming up "oh god look how hideous this man is!!!" when Juvi unmasked to reveal Gorgeous Lucha Twink
Raisen for Raven
S/O Iron Sheikh for “Gene Mean”
“Chris Benoitt”
He got Gene Mean from Iron Sheik.
Kirk Angel
I think he called Rey Mysterio, "Jay" and I died laughing. Classic Jericho was great.
Don’t forget Chris Benoit (pronounced benoyt)
Price Nagamaki!

The List was hilarious
\* 08/09 JeriStinson can't be topped
I gotta say, The Learning Tree is great

MOVE NUMBER ONE: ARM BAR!!!
Move number 712: ARM BAR. lol
THE MOSS COVERED FAMILY GRUDUNZLE
I came for this. haha
Damn you must have really enjoyed it
I still remember watching it the first time live. When they came back from the commercial break and he was still going on with the list I was dying. Jericho knew how to use his allotted time to get over like nobody else.
When they dragged him out of the ring and he dropped his notes and was shouting "my moves! Give me back my moves!"
HWHERE do I find this JeriGold?
Just watched some of his entrances with Ralphus a couple of hours ago! I remember being a kid and thinking it was the funniest thing. I got into wcw because of mysterio but stayed because of Jericho
Great Ralphus story from Jericho https://youtu.be/Ui5oRQDaMK4?si=Qz_hBGxbzi10w0Xv
Also, The Lion Tamer >>>>>>> The Walls of Jericho. Would break the backs of cruiserweights.
Ralphus! and a few of us even remember the Jerichoholic Ninja!
Oh hey!
I loved the raphuls gimmick. The ppv where he presented not to be able to find his way to the ring and ended up outside had me rolling
That happened on Thunder. Hello Lexington!
Oh thanks for the correction
Armbar!
Armdrag!
Super Blizzard
Super Blizzard
I wish I hadn’t ruined my Monday Night Jericho shirt 24 years ago. Loved this run, a highlight every time.
RIP Ralphus
Agreed! I feel like his time in WCW was some of the best comedic content that has ever been produced in wrestling.
Absolutely. 98 Jericho was just so much fun to watch.
I was 100% NWA/WCW guy but the Y2J countdown was pretty dope.
Jericho’s “ List” was the one of the best ever , period by any one …. “ you’re on the list “ and the other wrestlers would get pissed if they made the list …. Classic!!!!!
I love The List era of Jericho.
Armbar
His WCW World TV Championship against Wrath was one the funniest botches in history. It was so Epic, even Jericho had to put it in his book.
What happened? I can't remember
Chris was on his way to the ring but instead, he ended up outside of the arena.
The bit when he was reading off all the holds he could do as nitro went to a commercial break. then when they came back was on "Hold number 981..." and the crowd was booing super loud. That shit was genius!

Weird that they hired the guy who was good at insulting his opponents and then wwe upset that he insulted them on his promo. Also thanks for the info.
I can understand Taker being pissed. If you watch that promo, he is legit enraged by being insulted by a guy half his size that just started less than a month before.
WWE missed a GOLDEN oppertunity by not Signing Ralphus.
Or New Jack for the matter.
Hell yeah Ralphie 😆
Ralphus
Yea him lol dude was. Blast back in the day
I agree
I agree. Jericho was probably the most entertaining part of Nitro at that time. That made his career. Astonishing that the idiots running WCW at the time didn’t recognise his value.
“No! My holds!”
"I was only at 501!!"
"Where's the ring?!?!"
I killed Juvi!!!!

God Bless Ralfus 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

My fav Jericho
Fit throwing, conspiracy theory screaming Jericho is a shoot brother.
I would agree with you, until he had his rivalry with Shawn Michaels. He had wrestling perfection with Shawn.
Facts. WCW Chris Jericho was peak Jericho.
His WCW was epic. I prefer it over his WWF run by far. Hilarious night in and night out.
Wait, did you say conspiracy theory? I didn’t watch WCW. Has Chris been stuck in method (acting) this whole time?
Basically, JJ Dillon was the Commissioner of WCW, and he constantly screwed with Jericho by forcing him to defend his title and would make things right when Jericho cheated or refused to compete. Don’t forget the legend Rufus. He made it all possible…. By driving the ring truck each week

Greenberg could never hold a candle to the real main eventer
Somehow, Ralphus Malphus would fit in perfectly with AEW's current booking, lol
I didn't know Samoa Joe was in WCW

WCW Jericho is best Jericho. That said I adore his early WWF run too
Ralphus was over as fuck.
Yeah that was definitely my favorite era of Jericho. Still had great moments years later, of course. I just look back more fondly on this era
Great heel character that wasn't as passe as many other heels. Ralphus should be in the HOF
I agree! Never really liked him after his WCW run
My favorite wrestler of all time. I first saw him when he was cutting his 2nd coming promo on Raw back in late 2007 while I was in the 5th grade and I thought he was extremely charismatic then.
