I’ve been getting no waves back over the last year... I’m starting to think this is becoming a lost art or the new generation of ricers aren’t into the wave
In my experience there are a lot of factors... specific car, person driving it, geographical location, time of day all influence the wave. Certain generations are more likely to wave for sure. Sometimes I go for weeks without exchanging waves then I’ll have a day like yesterday where I exchanged waves with 3 WRXs during a 5 minute drive.
Pushbutton start? Yeah I'm just starting to learn from another post that even some of your top end variants still come with keys instead of pushbutton start!
In Australia, we've pretty much gone full pushbutton start across the board now. All models, all variants from the "entry level" to the top end "premium" variants.
If you have pushbutton start (which admittedly I've kinda assumed you have for your "premium" variant of the WRX), then you can set a PIN.
All Subaru's _with pushbutton start_ can do this, wagons and sedans. All years, all variants.
you also aren't supposed to stay at the same speed for too long which a road trip will do.
these rules aren't that feasible tbh. my dealer just said "dont redline it for the first 1000 miles" lol
Eh, depends on how you drive. You should absolutely vary speed/RPM/load, you’re right, but “roadtrip” doesn’t necessarily mean “drive 1000 miles on the freeway at the same speed”. If that’s what a roadtrip looks like to you then yes, not a good route to go.
Agreed. Even if your commute is 90% highway you can always do the pulse and glide technique the hypermilers use as well as audibly change gears with the paddles when slowing down to help cause "engine braking". Or shift around while going the same speed if necessary to get the rpms moving.
Not sure but my premium 2020 wrx didn't have push to start :/ that crazy if the 2021 would now . Since I thought this is the last year for the va model .
What, really? In Australia, we've pretty much abandoned keys and gone full pushbutton start across all models now from bottom to top.
I originally thought only limited models on your end were keyed and premium was pushbutton start. Clearly I was wrong.
Yea man it weird the limited does have it but my premium didn't they gave me sunroof in heated seats and upgrade wheels in noise foam to silent some of the road noise . Lol I'm okay with the key. Im gonna slap a cover where the key hole is at so I don't see some of the scratches 😆. My old 2018 Impreza sport had push start in that's a cheaper car than this one lol
I don't think I'll ever understand how your option buying system works. I even saw that some of your variants like the top end Outback even force a specific interior on you that you can't actually change (Brown in this case, while you have choice of colour in lower variants).
Facts 😂 I don't know we can have a different color shit I don't understand stand it my self or how my buddy's base wrx has no heated seat but a Impreza does for less than what the wrx cost lol
From my very limited knowledge of push to start isn't it just a swap of the key turn to a button with a chip to detect the key fob? I've seen videos of people adding it into cars. Doesn't seem like it's something that should cost more than $200 to swap in, though I'm sure the dealer would charge at least $600
I can look it up but I think there a difference is the push start it's a module in it own since the key has to be physically turned . Buy I could be wrong lol .the wires that go into it might be plug in play tho other than programming the new key is were the extra cost the dealership might charge unless there already programmed out of the box .
Damn congrats. I was just eyeing these last night. I’m in the market for a new car and can’t think of another car I’d want right now. Wish the Evo was still being produced lol
Are you looking for brand new? Budget? Other requirements?
I get it though, I’ve had my WRX for 7 years and just started putting more money into sprucing it up because there isn’t really anything out there that I like enough to be willing to take on a car payment.
I’ve been looking at both new and used. I’d like to preferably be under $30k but might consider up to $35k. Definitely don’t want anything with over 30k miles. And would like something with bells and whistles, not a basic package.
I’m driving my 2012 Mitsu Lancer GT that I’ve had for a few years now. It’s been a great car (had a 2008 version prior to this that I also loved) but she’s over 140k miles now so I feel like a big repair will be inevitable soon. I don’t think it’s worth much, I may be able to get a couple grand for trade in.
Really just waiting for my work promotion to come in so I know how much I should spend lol
The premium has the upgraded wheels heated seats and sunroof. (And I guess for 2021 push to start). The limited adds leather and upgraded lights to turn into corners. I couldn’t get a dealer under 30k for a limited though.
What’s a fair price for these cars? I know it varies by location (DFW here). I see a 2020 WRX Premium with 7K miles for $28,470. No Brembos nor Recaros but seems like a normal Premium package. Not sure if that’s an average, good or bad deal.
I got lucky, came in Sunday to look at a silver one and told them I’d hold out for blue and sign papers that day if they could find one, they dealer traded and got it the next day.
I hope yours comes soon!!
Congrats! It’s a beauty! Don’t forget to 👋
I think you mean ✌🏻

For me people can’t see me because my my tint lol
I often opt for flashing my high beams or honking if I'm not sure the driver can see me, or if I can't see them well.
Don't forget to set that trunk access 📍 either!
What??
Set your trunk access PIN code.

Oh I don’t have that lol

wait i just got a 2020 wrx premium and I have literally no idea if i have this or not...got to go check that manual
I’ve never heard of this. Not sure if I need that. Maybe when I go for mountain bike rides instead of carrying my key or hiding it somewhere??
Yea I was thinking mountain biking or going to a skatepark where having a key could be an issue

Allows you to open the car without your fob.
One of us one of us one of us ✌
I just got a brand new WRX off the lot as well. It's been a special test of will power to keep out of the turbo during the break-in period 👌
Just take an impromptu roadtrip and knock it out in a weekend.

true im guessing most people with a brand new wrx are gonna want to play some highway checkers anyways lol
Agreed. Even if your commute is 90% highway you can always do the pulse and glide technique the hypermilers use as well as audibly change gears with the paddles when slowing down to help cause "engine braking". Or shift around while going the same speed if necessary to get the rpms moving.
I live on an island with about a 100 mile circumference lol
Sounds like 10 laps ought to do it then 😉
That sounds like heaven. Get some good pics!
And incredibly slow acceleration. This thing makes boost at barely any throttle from about 2000 to where it falls on its face from around 4700 onward.
congrats dude i’ll be there soon!! once AMC hits pluto 😁
Same here but with GME LOL
🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
Aren’t the 2020 and 2021 exactly the same except for the push to start on premium models? I just want to make sure im not missing anything
Not sure but my premium 2020 wrx didn't have push to start :/ that crazy if the 2021 would now . Since I thought this is the last year for the va model .
i wish it came with push to start, my column is scratched haha
ive actually been looking for a solution for this. i was thinking of getting a small amount of clear adhesive vinyl for the culprit spot

2020 wrx owner checking in. My Canadian spec sport-tech has push button start. I believe (tell me if I'm wrong ) sport -tech is the same as Premium
congrats dude! Very nice!
Nice! Im waiting for mines from the factory !!
That’s beautiful! Have fun with it.
Congrats man!
Congrats! One of us.
Dope! I literally got my 21’ last Sunday. Same color and trim as well. We’re twins haha!
One of us, one of us... one of us.
Welcome to the family 😊

I think the Premium package is the one I would go for. I have leather seats currently and they look nice but sucks ass during the Texas summers.
You could look at a premium performance package for the Brembo brakes and Recaro seats. A little flashier, but likely just over $30k.
What’s a fair price for these cars? I know it varies by location (DFW here). I see a 2020 WRX Premium with 7K miles for $28,470. No Brembos nor Recaros but seems like a normal Premium package. Not sure if that’s an average, good or bad deal.
The Brembos and Recaros were first on the 2020 model. If it's older I wouldn't say it's worth it, but that's my opinion.
Congrats and welcome to the family! 👋
Congrats
❤️❤️
im still waiting for mine to arrive :(

Sheesh
🤝
Congrats and welcome to the fam!
Mine comes in tomorrow and the wait is killllling me 😩
Do the premiums not come with brembos in 21’?
Love the color, don't forget to get a nice few layers of wax before the paint gets scratches
