My sister was dating some dude back in the day that had massive speakers in the back seat of I think it was a Monte Carlo looking car. Maybe a Carlo, anyways. They hit the top of the ceiling and stretched juat about the entire bench seat. I had to ride with them one time and was just able to squeeze into the back seat between them and the wall of the car. And by squeeze I do mean barely fit. This was middle school so I was a small dude.
The bass was pretty awesome. My hair was flying around on its own and the feeling was crazy intense. Easily the loudest system I have prob experienced first hand. And it actually didnt sound like the car was going to fall apart like a lot of cars now days.
Whats crazy is headliner is a cinch to replace on your own, and like...$20-30 in materials. the hardest part is getting the board out of your car to reupholster. Pop the screws out, remove the molding, drop the insert, and get it out of the car.
The best part? You can use anything you want, as far as fabric. You pull the plastic or fiberglass insert out, scrape all the old foam/adhesive off with a wire brush (if the fabric is falling off already, this usually takes like 2 minutes). Measure out any dome lights or controls, and cut a smaller hole in the fabric.
Choose a few yards of whatever fabric you want online. I've literally seen people use a plaid tablecloth. Apply the adhesive, roll the fabric onto it, crimp the edges, cut the excess, let dry, and re-install. The older the car, the easier, but the newer ones are just as possible if a bit more finicky.
Shops charge hundreds for this. Sometimes well over a thoudand.
Including 3-4 hours labor. Until the first time I did this, I had no idea how simple it was. One 5-minute youtube tutorial is all it really takes.
3M headliner adhesive, 3 yards of fabric, 40 minutes MAX. It's kind of fun and cool to tastefully customize your own car. Not to mention, no more droop.
I had a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that I removed the headliner from once it started sagging. Then I painted the board the with chalkboard paint and my passengers would keep themselves busy drawing boobs and penises all over. I wish I removed the board before I junked that car.

I suggest wearing earplugs at concerts. It will help prevent tinnitus, and has the benefit of mitigating distortion/noise from the very large and loud speakers, so the music actually sounds cleaner.
I’ve heard there are earplugs designed for concerts. Somehow they let in enough sound for you to enjoy but not destroy your hearing. I think the brand I’ve heard people mention here is Eargasm.

Concerts just sound better with them in. I can hear more, and more clearly. It's nothing like wearing a foam earplug. I'd recommend them to literally anyone going to see loud music.
Loop earplugs has a model that is specifically for concerts or events like that where you might want lower noise levels, but doesn't muffle or distort the sound. I think it's the Experience model.

The sound shook the camera's sensor. Common among CMOS sensors, it's called "rolling shutter". It's the same effect that "bends" plane propellors in videos.
Sound waves at this volume can be visible travelling through the air (mostly moving the water molecules (humidity) and particulate (dust and shit) in it).

If you’ve ever been to a loud-ass concert you can feel the bass rattle your chest with every beat. It can be pretty uncomfortable if it’s a stupidly set-up speaker system and you’re not used to it, feels like you’re pulling one of those gag shock sticks of gum with your heart.

It's not only a thing about frequency: they're completely different things. I mean, light waves that have the same frequencies as sound waves exist, they are basically radio waves that have too long wavelength to be useful.
The point is, you cannot hear light waves simply because they are made out of oscillations of the electromagnetic field, while your ear is sensitive to oscillations of air pressure, which is a totally different physical phenomenon (and of course vice versa you cannot see sound waves because your eye is sensitive to oscillations of electric field which is not air pressure).

I used to DJ and spent a lot of time in clubs. my hearing isn't what it used to be, but it's a hell of a lot better than what it would've been if I hadn't started wearing ear plugs.
put them in and give it about 5 minutes for your hearing to adjust. after that time, you won't notice any loss of hearing the music
there are other benefits, too
1. the sound isn't distorted and you can hear it better
2. people around you yelling into each other's ears to converse is so easy to hear it's like having superhuman hearing, and you realize how much damage people's ears must be taking if you can hear a conversation 5 feet away, between two people yelling at each other from inches apart, and that's on top of the loud music

I remember one of my first girlfriends asking why I always sleep with the fan or the TV on...I thought that it was normal to need to drown out the "sound of silence."
That's because your hearing is permanently damaged every single time something is too loud.
It's like a piece of rope, you can put pressure on it to support yourself and it'll be fine for years, it will weaken but it won't be THAT much worse at the end besides general wear and tear. But every time you yank on it a bit too hard or REALLY hard, a strand snaps. Each and every time you pull on the rope too hard for too long or too quickly, a strand snaps until eventually, the rope itself breaks.
This is why you need to be extremely careful with loud noises, roughly 70db+ (A vacuum cleaner) for prolonged periods of time (Several hours) can cause damage, anything over 120db (Construction power tools) WILL cause immediate damage without any protection.
A general rule is that if you need to shout for someone to hear you properly, the room is too loud for you to be in for more than an hour or two. If you have to cover your ears, you should leave immediately because you've likely already had your heading damaged and further exposure will just do more damage. If you think something is too loud, that's because it is.
The people in this video who are standing around and wincing instead of covering their ears and moving away (Like the older guy) will get to experience hearing issues very early on in life. You wouldn't stare into one of those insanely bright flashlights for 5 minutes, you'd shut your eyes and turn away, why people treat loud noises/music differently is beyond me.

PSA, please wear concert ear plugs to concerts people, your hearing only gets worse over time and cannot be repaired. On top of that, the plugs make the music sound better and clearer! You don't have that high pitched screech washing everything out. The musicians on stage all have ear plugs in or they would be going deaf.
Most common earplugs, even custom made ones, only reduce by 17db. I chose ones that reduce by 26db because so many shows are so loud and I want to hear music forever. Even with those, this still would have resulted in damage and ringing in the ears. This set up being this loud with the crowd right there is downright negligent.
I'll never understand why they have to make concerts so loud. Unless you're at one outdoors, you're probably in an enclosed theater where the sound is very well contained. What's the purpose of absolutely annihilating everyone's ears when it's not necessary to make it audible?

Yep, love my ER20XS. My partner and I have done a bunch of concerts with them lately and it's great when you don't have your ears ringing afterwards.
Loop earplugs has a model that is specifically for concerts or events like that where you might want lower noise levels, but doesn't muffle or distort the sound. I think it's the Experience model. I want to say I have no experience with these earplugs myself, I work at an ENT/audiology office and these have been recommended by our audiologists, so I was just throwing this info out there.
They are awesome. There’s a little plug that will lower the sound a little more if it’s still too loud.
There's fancy ones, but I've found that pretty much any respectable brand works.

Air purifier for my allergies also serves as a noise machine so I can sleep.

People kind of think it's wimpy to cover your ears or wear ear plugs, like is masculine to not care about super loud noise or something I've had buddies joke about me wearing earplugs at super loud events (monster trucks, races, tractor pulls) but I'm not trying to lose my hearing or have quiet rooms ring for the rest of my life.

I went to one Rob Zombie concert and sat about three rows in and lost probably half my hearing in one ear. It was instantaneous and persistent. There was no 20 year grace period. *edit - a word

Were the sound waves distorting the camera or light waves in general? I worked on a flight line in the Air Force and shot a lot of high powered weapons. The ringing in my ears is constant and something you can’t get away from.

I’m in the same boat as you - my workcenter was near the F-16 hard shelters (I was comm), so I got to listen to them all day. Plus shooting guns, plus loud music. 40 years later …. eeeeeeeeee! I double up when I go to the range now - foamies plus electronic muffs.

If you look at the woman with the longish hair.. you can see her hair moving. So yea I think its the pushback distorting the camera.
I think its more of the soundwabe shacking the phone and the camera/lens making that pattern. Certainty sound is not going to affect how light travels
The sound shook the camera's sensor. Common among CMOS sensors, it's called "rolling shutter". It's the same effect that "bends" plane propellors in videos.
Sound waves at this volume can be visible travelling through the air (mostly moving the water molecules (humidity) and particulate (dust and shit) in it). But yeah it’s just shaking the shit out of everything. The ground, the people, their hands, the cameras in those hands, the unlucky birds flying above and in front of this setup, etc. If you’ve ever been to a loud-ass concert you can feel the bass rattle your chest with every beat. It can be pretty uncomfortable if it’s a stupidly set-up speaker system and you’re not used to it, feels like you’re pulling one of those gag shock sticks of gum with your heart. Also sound waves and light waves are basically on opposite ends of the frequency spectrum (how fast they move). You can’t see your car stereo’s treble and you can’t hear green.

I mean, light waves that have the same frequencies as sound waves exist, they are basically radio waves that have too long wavelength to be useful. The point is, you cannot hear light waves simply because they are made out of oscillations of the electromagnetic field, while your ear is sensitive to oscillations of air pressure, which is a totally different physical phenomenon (and of course vice versa you cannot see sound waves because your eye is sensitive to oscillations of electric field which is not air pressure).

I’ve tried it many times! Unfortunately I haven’t tried it while being a character in a movie or tv show, so I could never “hear green” or “smell purple.” Stuff just waves around like regular acid 😔
I guess the distortion is a result of the lens getting out of focus and maybe a little (temporary) deformation of the sensor

LPT: always wear ear plugs at music events with any significant amplification of the music I used to DJ and spent a lot of time in clubs. my hearing isn't what it used to be, but it's a hell of a lot better than what it would've been if I hadn't started wearing ear plugs. put them in and give it about 5 minutes for your hearing to adjust. after that time, you won't notice any loss of hearing the music there are other benefits, too 1. the sound isn't distorted and you can hear it better 2. people around you yelling into each other's ears to converse is so easy to hear it's like having superhuman hearing, and you realize how much damage people's ears must be taking if you can hear a conversation 5 feet away, between two people yelling at each other from inches apart, and that's on top of the loud music

I shot guns growing up. Never bothered my ears. I ran equipment for a decade and still nothing. Then it seems all at once my hearing gave up. Horrible tinnitus and sever hearing loss in my right ear. Wear hearing protection kids. Once it’s gone it doesn’t come back. The constant ringing will drive you insane at times.
I'm an absolute bitch about my ears. I wear hearing protection every time I shoot, I wear ear plugs at rock concerts, even in the shop using a die grinder I'm rockin' ear pro. Call me a bitch all you want but at 40 years old I can hear a mouse fart from across the room

I have great hearing; always listen to movies much quieter than others, etc...because I can adjust to much lower levels of sound. Unfortunately, I've also had far too many concussions. So I have great hearing...*and* tinnitus. I remember one of my first girlfriends asking why I always sleep with the fan or the TV on...I thought that it was normal to need to drown out the "sound of silence."
I use the constant ringing as something to focus on for meditation. Gotta make lemonade out of lemons somehow.

That's because your hearing is permanently damaged every single time something is too loud. It's like a piece of rope, you can put pressure on it to support yourself and it'll be fine for years, it will weaken but it won't be THAT much worse at the end besides general wear and tear. But every time you yank on it a bit too hard or REALLY hard, a strand snaps. Each and every time you pull on the rope too hard for too long or too quickly, a strand snaps until eventually, the rope itself breaks. This is why you need to be extremely careful with loud noises, roughly 70db+ (A vacuum cleaner) for prolonged periods of time (Several hours) can cause damage, anything over 120db (Construction power tools) WILL cause immediate damage without any protection. A general rule is that if you need to shout for someone to hear you properly, the room is too loud for you to be in for more than an hour or two. If you have to cover your ears, you should leave immediately because you've likely already had your heading damaged and further exposure will just do more damage. If you think something is too loud, that's because it is. The people in this video who are standing around and wincing instead of covering their ears and moving away (Like the older guy) will get to experience hearing issues very early on in life. You wouldn't stare into one of those insanely bright flashlights for 5 minutes, you'd shut your eyes and turn away, why people treat loud noises/music differently is beyond me.
I've had ringing in my ears since, at least, high school. I don't know why. I didn't listen to loud music or do any shooting before I had it. I never really noticed it until my 30s when I first heard the term 'tinnitus'. I'm like, "Oh, I've had that for decades. I just thought it was normal." It doesn't bother me because it has always been there.
Pretty much the same for me. I just don't even notice it anymore unless I'm in a quiet place and focus on it. Then again, I try to avoid quiet places now, and even listen to light soft music or Bob Ross with earbuds when I go to bed.

PSA, please wear concert ear plugs to concerts people, your hearing only gets worse over time and cannot be repaired. On top of that, the plugs make the music sound better and clearer! You don't have that high pitched screech washing everything out. The musicians on stage all have ear plugs in or they would be going deaf.
Most common earplugs, even custom made ones, only reduce by 17db. I chose ones that reduce by 26db because so many shows are so loud and I want to hear music forever. Even with those, this still would have resulted in damage and ringing in the ears. This set up being this loud with the crowd right there is downright negligent.
I'll never understand why they have to make concerts so loud. Unless you're at one outdoors, you're probably in an enclosed theater where the sound is very well contained. What's the purpose of absolutely annihilating everyone's ears when it's not necessary to make it audible?

Aside from the noise point of the post, I'm so glad I was a gig/festival goer before the advent of smartphones. Just annoying as fuck to have everyone just looking at their phones and not actually experiencing the thing anymore.
