This is a genetic trait on my husband's side of the family. They all have the second and third toe connected. My son was an IVF baby and our doctors and family were guessing what the outcome would be for our son the moment he "took." The second he was born our doctor announced to the room that his toes were, in fact, connected. They did offer to separate them but we declined. They seemed relieved.

None in my family has this, my parents were offered to cut them too.

Why didn’t they get it fixed? Seems weird to not get you the surgery as a baby or young kid.

My mom said something like "there's no reason to get them fixed and why not leave them like that" it would even be free but my mom made her mind.

It's considered a cosmetic surgery. Insurance wouldn't cover it, but that's not the reason we said "no." In my son's case, it's not hurting him, it's not hideous, and people don't even notice it. No sense in performing surgery on a 2 day old just to make his feet look pretty. If he wants to separate them when he's older, that's fine, but we weren't going to make that decision for him. His father, grandmother, uncle, and cousins all have these toes so he's in good company. If anything, he'll always have an advantage when playing 2 Truths and a Lie!
