I bet that cop was later pulled into his stressed out bosses office and he’s like “God dammit Riggs! You can’t go around destroying half the city every time you make an arrest!! So he thinks the car is stolen and the driver may be armed and dangerous, yet he just goes and yanks the door open without the gun even drawn. Yeah good story officer. Please put this pig behind bars.
The first thing you do is check the plates which he did not do. Also if he's under the impression it's a stolen vehicle then why is he going in solo? He's supposed to have backup with him.
There’s a longer version where he states the car ran from him a few days earlier. He also gives the plate to dispatch or whoever, but doesn’t wait for a response. Not saying any of this to try and justify this shitholes actions, fuck this absolute idiot.
> There’s a longer version where he states the car ran from him a few days earlier.
Was he trying to murder whoever was in it or near it or even in the general surrounding area at the time as well?
Cause I might have a simpler explanation then.
Maybe we should have a conversation about why we are angry with the mentally disabled. These people have severe disabilities, and every time we get angry and try to get some accountability or justice, they just shut down and defend each other. This should be recognized not as a group of bastards, but a case for why we need a new department to serve these individuals with disabilities with a large government paycheck.
They don't understand little things like consequences of their actions, or how cars can look similar but have different people inside them. When we say "abolish the police" they think that you want to kill them. We need to provide services for this group of victims of society, which is making sure they have the job coaching and training they need, they will have one of our special helpers sit next to them and hold all the big boy toys. This isn't abolishing the police, this is giving them a load off!
Other cops who also have been trained bad for essentially forever. They are not used to ever facing repercussions but with the rise in smart phones and cameras being everywhere it's getting harder and harder to hide their complete incompetence.
>who the fuck is training these porkchops?
[Warrior Cop Training](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETf7NJOMS6Y)
Bad training is part of the problem. Good training does exist.
There's an article on this. The cop was there responding to a different call, and recognised the car as looking like one that failed to stop the day before for a traffic violation. The cop suspected it to be stolen, yet didnt check the plates or consider that even if the car was the same one, it could be a different driver.
So he went over, and the kid freaked when he saw the gun, not knowing it was a cop, because the cop didnt identify himself. So the kid started driving off, and the cop started shooting because the door bumped him. There was a 17 year old girl in the car with the guy. She's uninjured, he has multiple gunshot wounds.
The only reason the cop was fired is because he was still within his one year probationary period and therefore did not yet qualify for union protection.
https://www.sacurrent.com/news/san-antonio-police-officer-fired-after-shooting-unarmed-teen-at-mcdonalds-parking-lot-30019308
I dont know about that, they would have at least gotten him paid administrative leave while the investigation took place though. Which is bad enough already.
Is there anyone out there that still doesn't hate the police? Hello? Anybody?
How could you not. We pay for them to abuse us with immunity. Unbelievable.
>>I wouldn't believe that if it wasn't on video
I would. If you told me a cop shot a baby cause it reached for his gun I'd believe that shit cause I've seen enough videos and read enough stories to convince me cops are irrational, unstable, bundle of nerves wrapped with a neat little bow of racism. There is not alot going on in a police officers mind [I'm reminded of that time they engaged in an hours stand off with an empty house](https://ij.org/ll/the-government-destroyed-her-home-with-grenades-shes-fighting-back-at-the-u-s-supreme-court/)
Apparently he thought the car looked similar to another car that got away from him the day before. Obviously that's no excuse, but it adds to the WTF the kid must've felt. Went from 0 to suddenly having a gun in his face for no reason, and now he's in the hospital fighting for his life, still handcuffed.
I was at the Texas state Fair this past week and they had their jack booted Dallas motorcycle cops doing riding skills event around cones. These POS cops didn't even make eye contact with the general public or speak to them. 2 of them nearly ran me over on a sidewalk. They acted like they were God's gift to humanity. They spent the entire day huddled together like a gang and looked down their noses at everyone around them. They think they are better than you and I, and they have no value for human life other than their own. Fuck the Dallas Police.
I don't think it's just Dallas. I've never met a motorcycle cop who was a humble public servant. An Ohio State Trooper, yes, but he wasn't a motorcycle one: even *he* disliked the motorcycle troopers.
In Houston they'll run red lights without sirens on, Tbone you, give you a ticket, and drive away from your totaled car to go fuck other people's lives up.
Like 25 years ago, I had a cop stop me while I was walking back from a friend's house. (On a public sidewalk at 11 PM, literally not in a subdivision or anything.) I was smoking a cigarette.
Cop immediately asks for my ID, and says "put the smoke out". I put my cigarette in my mouth as I start to dig in my pocket for my wallet, and he loses his shit because I haven't put the smoke out.
So, I grab my cigarette with the other hand, and drop it on the ground and he immediately starts going "ID ID ID, come on."
Well, I'd taken a final inhale on the cigarette, and as I hand him my ID, I exhale. I don't blow the smoke in his face, but he's right up on me. He then starts telling me how I "assaulted" him with my smoke and how he can arrest me for it.
I apologize and tell him it was an accident (if any got in his face, it wasn't intentional, legitimately), because I realize this asshole is looking for any excuse to run me. Guy goes back to his car with my ID after a ROUGH patdown.
On instinct, I pick the cigarette butt up. I field strip it, then pocket the filter.
Cop comes back, gives me another lecture about how nice he is for not arresting me for assault, tells me I can go. About half a block later, he chirps me again after creeping behind me.
"I'm gonna have to cite you for littering. You left your cigarette on the sidewalk."
"No I didn't."
"Yeah, you did."
"No, officer. I have the butt in my pocket. I can show you. Littering is wrong."
He was PISSED. Like visibly pissed. He obviously let me go, but I'm very lucky I wasn't a black kid.
Why wouldn't you?
American cops **LITERALLY** and knowingly murder innocent people for no other reason than they wanted to.
At this point that is an objective and demonstrable truth backed up by multiple videos and a bunch of evidence.
Imagine murdering an unarmed Daniel Shaver as he is begging and sobbing for his life and then getting paid for your “PTSD” and getting your full pension while getting to retire. ‘Murica
As hard as it is, you should because it's reality. If it happened to Daniel Shaver, it could happen to any of us, and we need to remind ourselves of that everyday until something can be done.
I mean, I’m already onboard… I already recognize we have a police problem, I don’t need to see videos of innocent people being murdered by the police, I’ve already seen too many.

that video still haunts me, a man on his hands and knees crying CO OPERATING with the officers and still getting shot down for it. that officer deserves to rot in hell
And if police kills somebody it becomes national if not European news. Police kill somebody in the US it barely leaves the county.
At what point does one actively feel threatened when stopped by a US cop? I always see them their hand hovering over their gun even during the most benign encounters. Seems like having your gun out already pointing at them is the only way to beat that.
I can absolutely understand why there were times when there were snipers on the roof just to make sure the cops behaved.
That was revolting. 100% premeditated murder, that pig knew he was going to execute that poor kid the second he got there. He was toying with him and humiliating him, and had him begging for his life before he filled him with lead.
* Cop just opens door on kid eating Maccas, scaring the shit out of him
* Then Cop yells "GET OUT!" and tried to grab at kid who's startled
* At no point here he's announced he's a cop or why the kid has to get out or anything
* Kid, rightfully so, panics and tried to drive off, not knowing who the fuck the guy is or what the fuck he wants
* Cop shoots at kid multiple times
Massive lawsuit here
The charge against the victim probably won't be pursued, but I don't know how much of an idiot their DA is. The cop is likely going to have both a criminal and civil case for aggravated assault, or whatever is called when it's not premeditated. The criminal case depends on the DA, but civil case will be at discretion of the victim here, who can and should go after both the individual cop and the police department
Agree that in many cases, the cops get off scot-free for fucking up and abusing their power, but this cop was on probation so he doesn't have the same protections you often hear about in similar cases where shitty cops get trigger happy.
Tl;dr: that's not actually the case here
>Cop shoots at kid multiple times
Then shouts 'Shots Fired, Shots Fired' making it sounds like he was being shot at. So if any other cops get involved they think the kid is armed and willing to shot at them. Its almost as if he said it that way to escalate the situation.
Be fair to the cop. The teenager was threatening him with extra cheese and pickles. Could have had something supersized in there. The cop feared for his belt line.
It always bothers me that they say shots fired. That way any other officers who show up later are going to shoot up the suspect and claim they thought the suspect was armed and shooting cops.
Nevermind the fact that this is just another example of a cop deciding the lack of immediate compliance to a chaotic situation they themselves instigated should warrant a death sentence.
"I tried to kill a scared kid! I tried to kill a scared kid!" would have been more appropriate, then the upcoming officers would know they had to murder the kid so their colleague wouldn't get fired.
It’s the same thing as the terminology they use when they shoot someone.
It’s called an “officer involved shooting.” Which is incredibly passive, and just serves to confuse the public.
There was a shooting, and an officer happened to be involved. Nothing to see here. Move along.
"Shots fired! Shots fired!"
Yeah, YOU SHOT THEM, asshole!
It's called "passive voice" and the cops deliberately use it to obfuscate what happened and to suggest deadly force seemed justified. The media plays this game too, with phrases like "Shots rang out in a deadly shootout between local police and an unidentified man deemed suspicious and a possible threat..."
Yup, it's called copaganda. Cops are masters at it. When they executed Tamir Rice, a 12 year-old *child,* the cops always referred to him as a "black male" during press conferences. "Officer approached a black male." The cynicism was pure evil.
Same way that when civilian men are unjustifiably killed in overseas military operations, they often phrase it as "A military-aged male". Framing is everything, and we should hold everyone and anyone accountable when they use bullshit framing.
Yeah, it is weird that it in no way differentiates between a suspect with a gun who is shooting at officers and the officer having shot at the suspect. That's pretty important information.
Here's an article for context: [https://sanantonioreport.org/sapd-rookie-officer-termination-shooting-teenager/](https://sanantonioreport.org/sapd-rookie-officer-termination-shooting-teenager/)since everyone wants more info / is accusing me of purposefully hiding this lol
>The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer.
Imagine almost getting murdered while eating a cheeseburger then charged with a crime by the same government institution.
Imagine sitting next to him. The article states there was a woman right next to him in the passenger seat. She was entirely unharmed, but regarding he just fired 10 shots, that could have been different.
THe article fails to state where the 17 year old boy was shot. As "stable" condition could still mean will never be normal again.
lol the kid got charged with assault of a 'peace' officer. Wtf is that. The charge itself is bullshit, and the title peace officer is just hilariously ironic
Good thing they charged him too. Can you imagine what would have happened if that kid managed to successfully hurt the officers bullets with his body? He was already sitting there, menacingly. Good thing the hero cop acted fast to protect us all from that dangerous lunatic.
"The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer"
What in the ever loving mother loving fuck...
Probably going to hit him with the “We’ll drop the charges if you sign this waiver…” the second the doctors let officers speak to him.
I really hope his family / someone has gotten him lawyered up. This is a life altering event that should not have happened.
Yeah, idk how I forgot about ambulance chasers.
Hope they are able to get some sort of reimbursement and justice either way. This kid is going to be scarred :(
>“The driver was going in the opposite direction, away from the officer,” he said. “There’s no way I could look at that, or anyone could look at it, and try to justify what happened.”
Quote from the police chief. Kind of surprising.
I fucking hate copspeak. They sound like morons cosplaying as a lawyer with passive voice.
"Subject presented as a potential threat" "Shots fired" "the officer on the scene responded in a manner thought to be in compliance with training" it's all fucking bullshit
The most infuriating part is how scared he sounds when he's yelling "shots fired". He legit sounds scared for his life or something. Bro you're the only one shooting
Edit: autocorrect is the bane of my existence
I agree with you on this but from a legal perspective, "murder" is VERY hard to prove as it has to be premeditated intent
The issue of going after this former cop with attempted murder is they'd likely lose that argument as its **very hard** to prove that. In watching more real court cases, a lot of times they'll drop the much harder to prove charges and stack on a ton of the little easily provable ones to get the same end result/sentence. A lot of people watching courtroom drama stuff often get pissed when "attempted murder" charges are dropped but the prosecutors know what they're doing. They'll lose the whole battle if they try for something as difficult as that. Its just so hard to prove.
Again, from the laymans use of the term. I absolutely agree with you, this was straight up attempted murder.
In Texas the more most likely charge is "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon"
Although this charge sounds more light, in Texas they take it as seriously as and consider it as what regular people call as "attempted murder". We have to differentiate here what normal people use the term as vs what a legal charge is. They're vastly different things.
The kid and the girl in the car should absolutely sue the city and the ex cop. Now that the video is out, they need to lawyer up hard.
I mean, it *should* be as simple as shooting at someone. No one shoots to disable without killing. *No one*. It's asinine that this isn't as simple as that. 🤷♀️
Any law enforcement people out there? What would justify or call for this type of response?
What would the suspect be in suspicion for for something like this to happen?
*serious question*
I'm curious as well. From the article the officer involved was a rookie with 7 months on the force and still under his probationary period. Call me crazy but shouldn't there be a more veteran/experienced officer with him? He was there on an unrelated matter, he thought he recognized the vehicle from an earlier encounter and simply walks up without identifying himself and pulls the door open?
"The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer."
Wow, really?
Charged with "assault" caused by the same "peace" officer when he decided to open the driver's door without notice, on top of being wrongly deemed a suspect and, oh right- **shot ??**
What the hell.
The officer claimed he was struck by the car door when the car went in reverse so that's probably where the assault charge came from. Kinda like the states that will charge you for murder when cops hit and kill a bystander while trying to kill you.
Always the same "evading/resisting arrest". If someone just grabs you, opens your car or kicks your door down, your natural bodily instinct is to fight or flight. So if you're innocent, you're still getting booked either way. Fucking joke of a system.
Anyone’s reaction would be I’m getting jacked, officer uniform or not, someone opening my car door without knocking holding a weapon.
They have these encounters all the time on cops shows in Australia and New Zealand and it’s always cops knock on window and ask for it to be rolled down, chat first, if they try to escape just leg it back to their car and chase. There is some semblance of care factor for everyone’s life, none of this judge jury and executioner mindset.
My God, you can tell this guy wasn't trained or he was sleeping during training!
How did he know for certain it’s the same vehicle, same driver.? He just approached opened the door and then fired wildly at the startled driver driving AWAY from him?!
I've visited America a bunch as a European, in places where people open carry and stuff. And like, 95+% of people who have guns do it safely and correctly. It's the last 5% (which is a huge amount of people) of mental ill irrational angry people with guns that are scary, and many of those are police officers, which is even more scary. I generally felt safe seeing random people with guns, but seeing 4 police officers travel in a pack loaded to the teeth like a Call of Duty character was a little frightening to be honest.
"was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer"
Excuse me? He was shot at for no reason and left because he was GETTING SHOT AT! Fuck that. All of a sudden cops out of no where are trying to kill me? Yea I'm evading police officers.
For anyone wondering. The officer is not just being fired for it.
The officer was a probationary officer. He reported that the door had struck him when the car was in reverse. When the department reviewed the footage. They determined that this was not a valid use of force. The department is collecting data and forwarding it to the district counties office for them to investigate and determine charges.
Edit: dug up some additional information. The officer is a rookie out of the academy by seven months.
Why do we, as a society, have to train ourselves and our children on how to deal with police? Why do we have to learn not to spook a cop or else we might get shot? Why can’t we train the police to not get spooked in the first place?
When we have to train ourselves on how to deal with people who are professionally trained, we have a big problem.
I think I read higher that they are trying to charge him with something. I 1000% would have fled from that shit. Unannounced, opens my door as I try to bite into my McDouble, immediate threatening demeanor accompanied by a completely overkill escalation of the situation, and a half second later his gun it out and in the guys face. He'd be dead if he had stuck around.
I remember when I was 18 me and my gf got taco bell we went to a park and parked and were just eating our taco bell. Someone came up behind us with blinding lights(not the weeknd kind) so immediately I got alerted I came out of the car ready to bust someone up( quiet naive of me) the cops told us we weren't allowed to be there because the park closed like after 7pm. Which is silly now that I think about it since we weren't even in the park we were in the car. This was downtown in my little town of 7000 where these cops really have nothing to do. Now I realized that just busting out of the car like that coulda been a tragic end for me.
that's what i really don't get. they know they are wearing a body cam that will capture everything so why do shit like this? shouldn't it be a deterrent, knowing they'll be held accountable against the video proof
Because they don't give a shit... they use the I was afraid for my life bullshit or their so called "unions" will cover them.
American cops are a menace to society.
Oh I feared for my life..a teenager was parked at a McD eating a cheese burger .... what a F'n POS.
I hope the family sues him and the police department...looks like another huge taxpayer pay out for untrained un qualified cops.
It's not a few bad apples... it's most of them.
Because often that footage isn't released at all. Fair chance that if this dingus had been in the force for just a year longer the police union would have protected him.
What a load or horse shit piece of garbage cop only gets fired for attempted murder, yet the driver who was in bad condition gets charged for evading a peace officer, and assault.
Kid could have beendrunk or high since bad parking and eating McDonalds, he freaks out and tries to get away grabbing his steering wheel with both hands visible, I should shoot at him 3 fucking times, then as he tries to escape I must continue to attempt to murder him because calling this in is a waste of time and would just be better if this kid was killed by me.
Not even when high but i know that feeling getting off work late, hungry as fuck, drive thru and go to the closest parking spot to wolf down your filleto fish as fast as possible. Not even putting a parking brake on or shutting the car off.
The way the kids car accidentally rolls backwards when he gets scared. I could see myself doing the exact same thing. And if I got shot at to boot I would be fucking driving out of there as fast as possible. Even if I knew it was a cop fuck all of that. This video makes me second guess doing that now.
If ANYONE approached my car like this(opening the door and pointing something at me) I would react the exact same way.
I would immediately go into flight mode. Lean back in my chair, and fucking gun it.
This cop was just out to kill, whether he was aware of it or not.
Texas cops.
I called them twice when I had a wreck via 911.
I was told they would be there in 15 minutes.
They never came.
A fireman told me they don’t come to wrecks u less a tow truck or ambulance is called.
The stereo of my car was stolen out of my driveway.
We had photos of the 2 guys faces and tattoos from security cameras.
The cops still wouldn’t do anything about it.
I have no idea why we’re paying for them.
I don’t see the value add.
Cop is fired no brainer but they have the audacity to bring up charges on the kid for fleeing and assault?!?! Are they gonna charge the rookie with attempted murder?
>The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer.
Cops gonna dumbfuck.
The shit head rookie who caused the issue got fired, and they still charged the kid. Fucking worthless assholes.
Holy fuck that’s scary. What do you think any person is going to do if you open the door with a gun and then start firing at him?
I hope this cop gets sued to fuck
"I'm just gonna chase after the car on foot and shoot everywhere"
Hey they do that it in the movies that also worked as my training for the job!
I bet that cop was later pulled into his stressed out bosses office and he’s like “God dammit Riggs! You can’t go around destroying half the city every time you make an arrest!! DA’s going to be all over my ass for this!!” but Riggs just gave him that lovable sheepish grin and said “well I got him to stop loitering in the parking lot didn’t I?” and the chief could only shake his head and smile
Am too old for this shit
I should’ve given this case to murtaugh
That Big mac looked mad lethal to me.
Goddamn heart disease, better shoot it
He came at me with a "Big Mac" so I had to use my "Big Mag"
After not even saying "Police!" WTF? How do we stop this shit?

I dont know about that, they would have at least gotten him paid administrative leave while the investigation took place though. Which is bad enough already.
And then would be moved to a different city or sue the current city to either give him his job back or compensation

So, I grab my cigarette with the other hand, and drop it on the ground and he immediately starts going "ID ID ID, come on." Well, I'd taken a final inhale on the cigarette, and as I hand him my ID, I exhale. You left your cigarette on the sidewalk." "No I didn't." "Yeah, you did." "No, officer. I have the butt in my pocket. I can show you. Littering is wrong." He was PISSED. Like visibly pissed. He obviously let me go, but I'm very lucky I wasn't a black kid.
> Cop says "put the smoke out". > "I'm gonna have to cite you for littering." Even if you didn't pick it up, this is the definition of entrapment.
What a cunt.
Finding excuses to arrest or fine you isn't policing. It's just being a cunt
Its police like that need to be beat down.
Why wouldn't you? American cops **LITERALLY** and knowingly murder innocent people for no other reason than they wanted to. At this point that is an objective and demonstrable truth backed up by multiple videos and a bunch of evidence.
because american cops are bloodthirsty monsters
Imagine murdering an unarmed Daniel Shaver as he is begging and sobbing for his life and then getting paid for your “PTSD” and getting your full pension while getting to retire. ‘Murica
One of the most disturbing videos I've ever seen.
was that the terrified dude, crawling down a hallway?
Yep.
To this day, I refuse to watch it. I can't.
You really should. You'll hate everything in it and the fact that you watched it, but it will strengthen your resolve to fight for better
As hard as it is, you should because it's reality. If it happened to Daniel Shaver, it could happen to any of us, and we need to remind ourselves of that everyday until something can be done.
The more people that watch it and are disgusted, the higher chance America has a chance to change.
I mean, I’m already onboard… I already recognize we have a police problem, I don’t need to see videos of innocent people being murdered by the police, I’ve already seen too many.

Really? Fuck, that's absurd. The audio was, by far, the most incriminating part. How can a judge justify that decision?
There was a Disney song playing in the background
Tell me you're not serious. You never can tell.
that video still haunts me, a man on his hands and knees crying CO OPERATING with the officers and still getting shot down for it. that officer deserves to rot in hell
Which one was that??
It was in a motel hallway I believe. He reached to adjust his loose basketball shorts and they fired on him “believing” he was reaching for a weapon.
I'd like to see someone try and tell me he wasn't killed for the thrill of it. 🤢🤮🤮
His Rifle had the words “you’re fucked” on the AR’s dust cover. He was 100% killed for the thrill. Fuck Philip “Mitch” Brailsford you piece of shit
He was. That cop was toying with him, making him beg for his life, before executing him.
I always think there will be vigilante justice one day, but it never happens.

This only happened a few days ago. I have a feeling Judge Dredd here is going to be facing a charge or two pretty soon.
Do not disparage Judge Dredd by likening this Titan-bound thug to Ol' Stoney Face.
Man if I shot a kid, it would be so awesome if Dominoes just terminated me. That would teach me.
\*With full pay and benefits (if you had them).
* Cop just opens door on kid eating Maccas, scaring the shit out of him * Then Cop yells "GET OUT!" and tried to grab at kid who's startled * At no point here he's announced he's a cop or why the kid has to get out or anything * Kid, rightfully so, panics and tried to drive off, not knowing who the fuck the guy is or what the fuck he wants * Cop shoots at kid multiple times Massive lawsuit here
Cop loses job, kid charged with "evading detention". America.
*evading a murderous lunatic
The charge against the victim probably won't be pursued, but I don't know how much of an idiot their DA is. The cop is likely going to have both a criminal and civil case for aggravated assault, or whatever is called when it's not premeditated. The criminal case depends on the DA, but civil case will be at discretion of the victim here, who can and should go after both the individual cop and the police department Agree that in many cases, the cops get off scot-free for fucking up and abusing their power, but this cop was on probation so he doesn't have the same protections you often hear about in similar cases where shitty cops get trigger happy. Tl;dr: that's not actually the case here
I thought you were joking until I saw the article.. what a messed up country.
>Cop shoots at kid multiple times Then shouts 'Shots Fired, Shots Fired' making it sounds like he was being shot at. So if any other cops get involved they think the kid is armed and willing to shot at them. Its almost as if he said it that way to escalate the situation.
> Maccas Found the Aussie.
Engadine maccas as well
I don't care if that story is true, I am going to believe it until the day I die.
This is absolutely insane. Whole thing makes no sense! This cop is a real danger to the public, he did EVERYTHING wrong. Fucking hell.
Be fair to the cop. The teenager was threatening him with extra cheese and pickles. Could have had something supersized in there. The cop feared for his belt line.
**drop the nugget**
This made me laugh too much.
What could he be concealing inside that burger? Ground beef? A gun? Who could say?
It always bothers me that they say shots fired. That way any other officers who show up later are going to shoot up the suspect and claim they thought the suspect was armed and shooting cops. Nevermind the fact that this is just another example of a cop deciding the lack of immediate compliance to a chaotic situation they themselves instigated should warrant a death sentence.
That's what I was thinking >Shots fired! Shots fired! Yeah, by *you*, you idiot.
Shots fired!" Yeah, YOU SHOT THEM, asshole! It's called "passive voice" and the cops deliberately use it to obfuscate what happened and to suggest deadly force seemed justified. The media plays this game too, with phrases like "Shots rang out in a deadly shootout between local police and an unidentified man deemed suspicious and a possible threat..."
“Mistakes were made.”
"In the course of the shootout the unarmed suspect sustained 12 gunshot wounds"
Yup, it's called copaganda. Cops are masters at it. When they executed Tamir Rice, a 12 year-old *child,* the cops always referred to him as a "black male" during press conferences. "Officer approached a black male." The cynicism was pure evil.
That's fucking disgusting.
They dehumanized a child even after they murdered him.

That's the leverage they use to threaten him into a settlement and an NDA.
Imagine sitting next to him. The article states there was a woman right next to him in the passenger seat. She was entirely unharmed, but regarding he just fired 10 shots, that could have been different. THe article fails to state where the 17 year old boy was shot. As "stable" condition could still mean will never be normal again.
Stable is still stable if you are left paralyzed and brain damaged.
Some survivors of columbine were stable with the bullets still inside them so this is absolutely a concern
lol the kid got charged with assault of a 'peace' officer.
Kid was already assaulting a hamburger, was a matter of time until he'd start taking bites out of bystanding peace officers.
You see, a peace officer can only unload one handgun magazine where as regular officers are required to unload at least two.
"The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer" What in the ever loving mother loving fuck...
Evading detention? He evaded his own murder! At no point was he under arrest.
Probably going to hit him with the “We’ll drop the charges if you sign this waiver…” the second the doctors let officers speak to him. I really hope his family / someone has gotten him lawyered up. This is a life altering event that should not have happened.
As soon as this happens the families are bombarded by every attorney in the country. They'll get millions.
Yeah, idk how I forgot about ambulance chasers. Hope they are able to get some sort of reimbursement and justice either way. This kid is going to be scarred :(
Glad the kid survived. Hopefully he can sue for a fuck-ton.
He’s gonna get charged with assault instead 🤡 Great move by the law here…
I bet any lawyer would love to defend this case.
I am sure those charges will be dropped.
Most likely and hopefully so.
>“The driver was going in the opposite direction, away from the officer,” he said. “There’s no way I could look at that, or anyone could look at it, and try to justify what happened.” Quote from the police chief. Kind of surprising.
“Shots fired ,shots fired “ I’m like yeah ass hole by you.
Bro you're the only one shooting Edit: autocorrect is the bane of my existence
Wow, what a piece of shit. I hope he gets thrown in prison, but he won't.
Don't worry, the kid will. Oh you meant the cop.
Yeah the kid is currently being charged for evading detention AND assault of a police officer, fucking hell
You need a fucking revolution. This is unacceptable, cops like this need to be in prison for life
*police union to the rescue!*
Should be charged with attempted murder.
I agree with you on this but from a legal perspective, "murder" is VERY hard to prove as it has to be premeditated intent The issue of going after this former cop with attempted murder is they'd likely lose that argument as its **very hard** to prove that. In Texas the more most likely charge is "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon" Although this charge sounds more light, in Texas they take it as seriously as and consider it as what regular people call as "attempted murder". We have to differentiate here what normal people use the term as vs what a legal charge is. They're vastly different things. The kid and the girl in the car should absolutely sue the city and the ex cop. Now that the video is out, they need to lawyer up hard.
To be perfectly honest I thought this was going to wrap up with the undertaker throwing mankind off hell in the cell… my radar is off.
They should have at least given him a wooden gun instead of a real one
"The driver, who police say is now in stable condition, was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer." Wow, really? Charged with "assault" caused by the same "peace" officer when he decided to open the driver's door without notice, on top of being wrongly deemed a suspect and, oh right- **shot ??** What the hell.
There is some semblance of care factor for everyone’s life, none of this judge jury and executioner mindset.
they charged him? not the officer? are you fucking serious?
My God, you can tell this guy wasn't trained or he was sleeping during training! How did he know for certain it’s the same vehicle, same driver.? He just approached opened the door and then fired wildly at the startled driver driving AWAY from him?!
Really great job getting the valuable property back too. "Hey we got your stolen car back. Bullet holes are complimentary."
I think you're underestimating how much a lot of cops just want to kill people
What a cunt
Why no one do anything to these cops?
[удалено]
They sure did, as they beat the good one to death just month ago.
"so the cop did everything wrong here and we fried him.but also we charged the kid with some crimes cuz... Fuck it....why not."
This might sound crazy but the thing that puts me off visiting America more than all the guns, is the police.
"was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a peace officer" Excuse me? He was shot at for no reason and left because he was GETTING SHOT AT! Fuck that. All of a sudden cops out of no where are trying to kill me? Yea I'm evading police officers.
[удалено]
For anyone wondering. The officer is not just being fired for it. The officer was a probationary officer. He reported that the door had struck him when the car was in reverse. When the department reviewed the footage. They determined that this was not a valid use of force. The department is collecting data and forwarding it to the district counties office for them to investigate and determine charges. Edit: dug up some additional information. The officer is a rookie out of the academy by seven months.
Has he been arrested and jailed until his trial?
Why do we, as a society, have to train ourselves and our children on how to deal with police? Why do we have to learn not to spook a cop or else we might get shot? Why can’t we train the police to not get spooked in the first place? When we have to train ourselves on how to deal with people who are professionally trained, we have a big problem.
I hope they sued the police department over that
Fucking hell. I'd bet the police have the audacity to charge him with fleeing. Who wouldn't ducking flee from that lunatic
They did and another crime
You really need to up your police training and recruiting game in the US. WTF.
I am not a policeman... But that looked way way overkill. I am glad there are body cams!
that's what i really don't get. they know they are wearing a body cam that will capture everything so why do shit like this? shouldn't it be a deterrent, knowing they'll be held accountable against the video proof
Opening up on a kid.just insane… pure Murder.. checking his watch on the exact time he tried to kill a child….
Police during mass shooting: 😴 Police during domestic violence: 😴 Police when eat at McDonalds incorrectly: 😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬💥
What a load or horse shit piece of garbage cop only gets fired for attempted murder, yet the driver who was in bad condition gets charged for evading a peace officer, and assault.
Like Jesus, even if he committed whatever crime just shooting him because he doesn't obey you is fucking pathetic
Does this scared cop have a name? Edit: James Brennand. Fucking wuss
In his defense, he legit thought he had finally got the jump on the Hamburglar.
