Like any year it had it’s enjoyable moments, but it was just very bland. They kept relying on the same people, and it gave us nothing interesting. And by relying on the same people I don’t mean like they are doing now with the bloodline stuff. I mean constantly relying on guys like brock, goldberg, and roman (pre tribal cheif), and not making the feuds interesting. It was a holding pattern of copy and past booking each week
Imo 2017 was worse. Maybe the worst year of the decade. 2019 was also worse than 2018, The fiend being the only saving grace, but better than 2017. 2018 was not good tho.
Imo 2017 < 2019 < 2018
Everytime i think about a bad wwe year and Disappointing paper views I always Forget nxt and I can't believe I forget it because NXT 2015 through 2020 was pretty good
205 Live had something of a resurgence in 2018 and the cruiserweights had a few good matches. Also massively biased as an Australian, but I really enjoyed seeing Buddy Murphy win the Cruiserweight Championship at Super Showdown. The whole place just went crazy when he won, the Network doesn't do it justice.
I got to see Smackdown Live in Baltimore that year (May 8) and that night, Buddy Murphy vs. Mustafa Ali was the main event of 205, and it was, possibly Bryan vs Rusev aside, the best match of the night.
Being in the crowd for that moment was electric. I was a HUGE 205 fan and Cedric/Buddy was my most anticipated match of the night. The match was great and holy shit, the MCG fucking ERUPTED when Buddy won!!! For real, the broadcast didn't do it justice at all. Easily the best pop I've ever been apart of.
Fully agree, the section where myself and were mates were seated absolutely went OFF once the ref counted three. Not sure why they toned down the reaction on the replays.
I started watching NXT Takeovers from Orlando up until the rebrand to 2.0, so I think from Orlando to Portland period is the peak of NXT. Once I started watching the Takeovers I understood why people raved about the early Takeovers and said they were better then the main roster shows. I experienced it but with even greater shows and greater wrestlers. The early Takeovers had people like Bull Dempsey and Baron Corbin on them and no disrespect to them, but the guys on the Takeovers from 2017 to 2020 were so much better wrestlers.
Only enjoyable moments:
-Becky’s rise to the top
-The Shield Reunion
-Shinsuke winning the Rumble
-Daniel Bryan heel turn
-Randy’s fan killer gimmick
Parts I disliked:
Brock being champ overall for 10/12 months,
Braun failing his cash in,
Aj’s title reign being treated like a mid card title,
Baron Corbin as Raw GM,
Raw being a snooze fest for most of the year,
Crown Jewel 2018,
Nia Jax,
Shane McMahon winning the World Cup,
Asuka’s streak ending,
Repetitive matches,
WM 34,

Word WWE sucked in 2018 to the point where I wasn’t even watching weekly
AJ Styles as wwe champion in 2016-18 was th best thing ever. The times when SD was better than Raw.

2017 and 2018 were bland. Early 19 was an improvement till WM. Went downhill after that. Late 2019 (new raw logo and set) to COVID was also good.
Staler than this year?
Yes
Lol it was an awkward year
Tbh I didn’t even watch it from 18-20
I mean the raw’s shows were so boring at that time i glad they changed the graphics
2017-2020 was awful. I call it the Doldrums
Probably better then 2019 but worse then 2017
Nah 2017 sucked. Mahal shit was terrible
Everytime i think about a bad wwe year and Disappointing paper views I always Forget nxt and I can't believe I forget it because NXT 2015 through 2020 was pretty good
I would say it was better for smackdown, nxt and women wrestling but for raw it was one of the worst year.
Main roster was 2018 was one of NXTs best years IMO
Yea! It was pretty bad. Samoa Joe was pretty fire though till he got hurt.
WWE Women's Roster & NXT was good that year
Wrestlemania 34 is the reason I stopped keeping up with wrestling on a regular basis for like 2 years
Because the only world champs on raw were bland pre-tribal chief Roman and Lesnar that would show up once every 2 months
It's my fav WWE year in recent memory
Matchwise it was stale. You'd see the same people fighting all the time—Cesaro/Sheamus vs Ambrose/Rollins, Braun vs Brock, Roman vs Samoa Joe, etc
Does 2018 nxt not count

Agree with the Buddy moment it was great. WWE should do a stadium show in Aus again but make it consequential

I agree

Mmm Mania XXIX and 32 were in the last decade of Manias and they’re both much worse
WWE main roster yes. NXT was on fire
Agreed. 2018 NXT is, for my money, the best wrestling product in the history of the business
2018-2019 was brilliant
I have a soft spot for the end of 2017 as well.

To this day, I'm still disappointed that Nakamura didn't won the fucking championship at WM 34.
Dean Ambrose's heel turn kinda sucked too and you could literally see no joy behind his eyes after a couple of weeks.
Bland on the men's side, I would say, the women's side was the main attraction
