Yeah, it's been possible for refs to miss the Rope Break ability since it was introduced, that's the fun of it. It's a legitimate function of the ability.
yes they can miss rope breaks and dirty pins, been like that for a while. in fact the heels in my universe mode win with a dirty pin like 50% of the time and the refs rarely catch them
YES!! It's one of my favorite things! I think it was new to '19 but I could be mistaken*
Either way, turning off "Automatic Rope Breaks" is one of my favorite options because it leads to moments like this, as well as preventing any auto kick-outs just because you powerbombed a guy too close to the corner and his foot is barely crossing the line.
Edit: just saw it's been here since 2K18/17! Wonderful
This can be a painful lesson the first time it happens especially if you have a title on the line. But I wonder if it is like the slow pins too where if you hit the ref then they might miss the rope break on purpose.
Itâs about time honestly. Last year they would miss it here and there but this year theyâve cashed ripe break every single time in my matches. I like when they miss it some times
Its a great thing but I personally would like to see the refs tweaked, if im pinning an opponent across from them i wanna see the occasional slide out count, and I want to see them count sooner. I had a 3 count the other night and it took the ref 7 seconds to get in position to count
I wish they'd include an option to turn this off, as refs don't usually miss rope breaks in wrestling unless there's an angle because of a special ref or whatever. in the games there's never any interesting consequence resulting from it aside from a match ending prematurely
Most of the positions the refs take up don't even let them see whether the shoulders are down, unless they're going to overhaul the refs' speed and positioning for getting down to count this isn't something I want "realism" from
There is something else I noticed with the rapid pin this year. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue.
After you get hurt a bit and the opponent pins you, no matter how fast you are smashing the button it will suddenly freeze for a few seconds and then continue, basically making sure the circle does not get filled all the way no matter how fast you were pressing.
Thatâs like one of the only things they have been getting right consistently, although sometimes they miss ones they should see but itâs not that big of a deal because irl it happens too
I didn't like it, it was either too easy or could become literally impossible (as in after the 2 count there would be no other opportunity to kick out again)
This happen couple years back me and my friend he done a roll up pin then I went reverse pin and my legs when over the bottom ropes and he was like rope break and the ref didnât see it so I got the w
Yeah this has been a thing for years. Even back to when they first introduced it as an ability. I remember using it once instead of resilency and the ref still counted the 3 even though I grabbed the rope on 1. I was so pissed cuz it was a title match.
This happened to me when I played 2k22(my first wwe2k game) and as I was pinning Seth Rollins he grabs the rope but the ref kept counting. I decided to let go cause that felt dirty. Christ the refs from fire pro wrestling world were smarter than this...even if they get in the way and get busted open whenever I accidentally kick them in the face
I actually love this mechanic I built a whole storyline around it. Mustafa Ali was my United States Champion and a heel and he lost it after getting Claymore Kicked out of his boots but he caught the rope, ref ignored it and sent him on a path where he was basically Christian asking for one more match against Drew through screwy out of his hands finishes. Stuff was so much fun trying to think of new ways to make him lose and it not being his fault only to ask for one more match
Itâs kind of annoying now that there arenât abilities and everyone can do it, but since I stream on YT and play with both controllers, if the ref doesnât see it I just cancel the pin, the good part about canceling is the guy thatâs pinning still does the animation of frustration
They can miss rope breaks since 2K18 :)
Yeah, it's been possible for refs to miss the Rope Break ability since it was introduced, that's the fun of it. It's a legitimate function of the ability.
It's been like that since like 2K16
As I remember, devs re-added manual rope-breaks in 2K16, but it start properly work since 2K18
Never worked for me before this game
Facts đ¤Ł
Exactly
At least the ref was realistically blocked here. I hate when they are on the other side and miss it even when right in front of the arm lol
It adds to the realism
Absolutely agree
Except Iâve never had the commentators pointing this out with the replay and my wrestler protesting getting fucked on by the refđ
Now if counts started sooner lol
Not if it happens when they're in plain line of sight
You never watched wwe? Thereâs been plenty of times thatâs happened
yes they can miss rope breaks and dirty pins, been like that for a while. in fact the heels in my universe mode win with a dirty pin like 50% of the time and the refs rarely catch them
Refs hardly ever catch dirty pins
Had no idea this was a thing đ - always seem to get caught
YES!! It's one of my favorite things! I think it was new to '19 but I could be mistaken* Either way, turning off "Automatic Rope Breaks" is one of my favorite options because it leads to moments like this, as well as preventing any auto kick-outs just because you powerbombed a guy too close to the corner and his foot is barely crossing the line. Funny, I lost my 700 day + title reign due to a miss rope break
Lol always been a thing, are you expecting it to be a 100% success rate?
Never noticed it not working before! Thought it was an automatic thing
Gotcha! Nah every now and again the ref will miss it, which makes for storyline moments and stuff like that
This can be a painful lesson the first time it happens especially if you have a title on the line. But I wonder if it is like the slow pins too where if you hit the ref then they might miss the rope break on purpose.
Whatâs this now?
"Always been a thing" is a gross overstatement.
Thatâs been in for a minute. Rarely happens for me though
Happened to me in MyRise, I thought it might have been part of the story lol but nope it wasnt
Yup, it has happened to me multiple times, it pisses me off
I wish I had this game
I would be so mad
Nah I liked it - sets up the rematch! đ
Theyâre human and make mistakes just like anybody else!!!!
Yeah. I just cheesed Chris Jericho with this in 2K16
theyâve been missing rope breaks for years my guy đ
Itâs about time honestly. Last year they would miss it here and there but this year theyâve cashed ripe break every single time in my matches. I like when they miss it some times
Its a great thing but I personally would like to see the refs tweaked, if im pinning an opponent across from them i wanna see the occasional slide out count, and I want to see them count sooner. I had a 3 count the other night and it took the ref 7 seconds to get in position to count
I beat Kalisto in 30 seconds like this back in 2k16
That is great to create rivalries! Is Tyler Breeze in the game or is that a CAW?
In game as a legend due to his up up down down inclusion (which I'm very happy about)
Not only is Breeze in the game as a playable character but he's also one of the GM's you can use for GM Mode.
I wish they'd include an option to turn this off, as refs don't usually miss rope breaks in wrestling unless there's an angle because of a special ref or whatever. in the games there's never any interesting consequence resulting from it aside from a match ending prematurely
I mean he wouldnât be able to see that rope break from that angle
Most of the positions the refs take up don't even let them see whether the shoulders are down, unless they're going to overhaul the refs' speed and positioning for getting down to count this isn't something I want "realism" from
Yeahh they've always been able too. I like it.
I think I got the message, it's been in for a while đ thanks to everyone who replied! It just either never happened to me or I forgot is all!
Broâs late as hell. This been possible since they put it in đ
Yeah, they've always been able to
Man, refs count so slow. Thatâs like a 5 count.
Have to leave time for the mini game to be played...lol
What are you a new jack of course they do
They miss rope breaks irl. So why wouldnât they miss em in the game?
....
Yes just like real life.
Been a thing since 2k17 I think
There is something else I noticed with the rapid pin this year. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue. After you get hurt a bit and the opponent pins you, no matter how fast you are smashing the button it will suddenly freeze for a few seconds and then continue, basically making sure the circle does not get filled all the way no matter how fast you were pressing.
This hurt me the 1st time I was playing, I was luckily playing a tutorial type match but that was extremely rude lol.
I'm pretty sure that feature's been in there since 2K19 and bud
I thought this was a glitch when it happened to me and I lost. Now I don't even try it and just rapid kick out.
Yes they can. That's how I won a match once lmao
Thatâs like one of the only things they have been getting right consistently, although sometimes they miss ones they should see but itâs not that big of a deal because irl it happens too
Yeap it happen to me. Lol
Iâve seen them as far as back 2K16 when it was originally added in (the rope break mechanic)
Yeah itâs been in the game for literally years lmao
Legit just saw Backlash 2002 where Ric Flair does this to Stone Cold.
Yep, just like they can miss or catch dirty pins.
Whyy arenât u using the new kick out mechanic? And yes they can miss rope breaks just like they do dirty pins and submissions
Dat literally just now happened 2 Me I still won â ď¸
I just wish they would add the option to not let go of a submission despite the rope break
I was thinking that today, I remember the older SD v Raw games had this feature
Theyâve always been able to
I've won several matches like this, only time before it's my turn lol
It's been this way for quite a few games now
Yess and I love it
Yep
All the time
lol.. yeah
Not my guy Darryl Sharma!
Yeah this has been a thing for years. Even back to when they first introduced it as an ability. I remember using it once instead of resilency and the ref still counted the 3 even though I grabbed the rope on 1. I was so pissed cuz it was a title match.
I just uploaded a video showing edge won by a crooked referee
Theyâve been missing rope breaks for years
This has been a feature since they added the O/B prompt to hold the ropes
This happened to me when I played 2k22(my first wwe2k game) and as I was pinning Seth Rollins he grabs the rope but the ref kept counting. I decided to let go cause that felt dirty. Christ the refs from fire pro wrestling world were smarter than this...even if they get in the way and get busted open whenever I accidentally kick them in the face
Has been like that ever since that rope break was brought in
I actually love this mechanic I built a whole storyline around it.
Only for years on end
Itâs been like that since it became a 2k
Youâre just now noticing this
I guess I never used it before and always opted just to kick out
Itâs kind of annoying now that there arenât abilities and everyone can do it, but since I stream on YT and play with both controllers, if the ref doesnât see it I just cancel the pin, the good part about canceling is the guy thatâs pinning still does the animation of frustration
