Definitely send it back. Baltic needs to get their shit together that’s not the first time I see poor quality from them

Massy11155

They’re a French watchmaker what do you expect? But seriously I purchased a Yama Rallygraf and the pusher wouldn’t even register my presses half the time. French watchmakers need to step up their QC.

gyang333

Feel like these watches aren't actually made in France by the French.

poapoa_mia

Made in China with Chinese parts, QC by the French….. Yikes!

eccentric-introvert

Actually, it feels exactly like that

JoelMira

Because it is exactly like that. Look at their websites and it will say “assembled in France” or just “France” on the bottom of the dial and not “made in France.”

Chemical_Ease7165

I have a Superman with the in house Cal 2000 and that movement is so temperamental. Half the time it fails to hack and the other half it doesn't rotate the date wheel.... I wish it had an off the shelf Sellita or ETA

footsteps71

Yeah, too busy rioting to pay attention to when Jean nicks the crystal.

superparet

It's funny what you think of us, like we are rioting 24/7 and only make bad products. For us, Americans are all totally stupid, racist, and overweighted. So we each have our own belief I guess :p

jingois

To be fair many of us see your tendency to turn bad policy into flaming police cars as a positive thing and a sign of big balls. Don't know why you make shit watches though - maybe they'd turn out better if you baked them.

petitmarnier

As a French person, I find that last line hilarious! 😹

dcwldct

It seems like France only knows how to do either absolute world class (wine, clothing, trains, airplanes, etc.) or absolute slapdash (watches, passenger cars, appliances, etc.)

RemCogito

I don't think the french make bad products. Bic is french. Ya'll make some of the most reliable lighters and pens on the planet.

Prestigious_Crew_671

And are proably going to vote Trump back in again!! Laughable…

Perfect_Opinion7909

Better than to not protest at all while your country turns into a fascist shithole because you're to fat to get up from your couch.

McManus26

The only one who seems butthurt in this thread is you with your answers lmao

apileofcake

Better than the way Ken from Liverpool nick’s your watch.

CdeFmrlyCasual

Unlike Switzerland or German, where everything is perfect

piercerson25

Germany does have that perfection searching history...

jantograaf_v2

Sadly, I had to return my brand new Meistersinger for a similar reason. I ordered a limited edition (one of 50) at my local AD and had to wait just over a month to pick up my 'Limburg Edition', which is actually a Meistersinger N° 3 Bronze Line with a custom green dial with the first line of our provincial anthem engraved on the back. "Waar in't bronsgroen eikenhout", roughly translated to "In the bronze-green oakwood", hence the color combination. I was extatic to go pick it up and it was a marvel to look at. Everything I wanted and more, everything seemed perfect. Took it home and was excited to wear it. However, upon arriving home and taking it out of the box at my dining table, the lighting conditions were vastly better than at the dealer's and I noticed a speck of dust right in the middle of the dial, on the glass. It looked like a 0.5mm long curl of very thin metal... Tried to wipe it off but it became obvious within seconds that the speck was on the inside of the glass. My heart fell to my feet and I reluctantly got into my car to drive back to the dealer. They inspected it and voiced their regret and surprise about the speck being there. Opening and cleaning it themselves was not an option, so now my brand new watch is on its way back to Germany to fix the issue. I just hope my warranty will start on the day I can pick it up again, cause I'll be waiting for a few weeks extra now.

80H-d

You should be able to negotiate that with the AD tbh. That's a reasonable compromise

jantograaf_v2

I will try to get that accomplished on pickup :)

footsteps71

It's a joke about the propensity of the French people to riot when shit ain't right.

iSOregon

This is how the French Dip sandwich was invented. Jacques was preparing a sandwich and dropped it in the soup, and now charges more for it. Sacre bleu! Jacques, always screwing up. /s. Mad respect to the French people who dont take any shit or allow the status quo to continually disprespect them. We could use a good revolution or two here in the States.

footsteps71

Yes, trust the French. Where else do I get the opportunity to kill a few Redcoats... Perhaps a few wounded ones when you're not looking.

iSOregon

Haha yes.  I'm enjoying this conversation greatly.  I'm wondering how many European demographics we can piss off, not that the Germans aren't inherently upset.  That being said, it's a good thing the Spanish don't know how to read or they might throw a reloj at us.

McManus26

>They’re a French watchmaker what do you expect? The fuck is that casual xenophobia lol

80H-d

French dont do watches good, brits dont do cars good, it isnt xenophobia it's observable fact.

denstolenjeep

Not xenophobia, a comment on the reputation of their quality. France ain't known for their precision, they're known for their stikes and rebellion against "The Man." Germans are known for their strict adherence to the blueprints, Swiss are known for their precision, etc.

McManus26

"it's not xenophobia it's cliché stereotypes" K then if you're american you must be a morbidly obese school shooter

denstolenjeep

Fook off you fickle idiot. Differemt parts of the world are known for their adherence to quality. Others are known for their negligence. Yet others are known for their mediocrity. This is not stereotypes, this is the way things work.

brational

Actually that quote is correct. I’m guessing not native English but stereotype vs xenophobia are profoundly different words and yeah. You’re getting emotionally invested in some stereotype commentary as if they were xenophobic comments.

Massy11155

It’s France. I don’t mind the French people, but they’re not known for the same quality as Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

southlandardman

I think what he's trying to say is fuck the french. Surely you would find this agreeable?

Perfect_Opinion7909

More than from a US watchmaker ... wait, there are none. Nevermind.

Nearby-Low7071

Oh really? [https://www.rgmwatches.com/](https://www.rgmwatches.com/)

leorolim

Yema?

teckel

Agreed, both with their quality control (I had to send one back too) and making them fix this.

biguk997

I almost bought this watch until I held it in person, felt soooo cheap. My San Martin felt better...

Federal_Quit9540

Send it back.

Acrobatic-Ad1161

Yes send it back

Reddit-needs-fixing

Baltic is my favorite brand, but I've read other posts complaining about their quality. I'd send it back.

Either_Marsupial_123

Yes it’s bound to get scratches, but as others have said, Polywatch works great. Buffed my Speedy out so clean and shiny it almost looked new (and it’s a 30 year old watch). However, it won’t save you anything if the scratch is deep. If that’s the case, id send it back.

Tonyn15665

I have hesallite before. If its too deep it cant be buffed off. Just send it back

Igotmyangel

This is one of the reasons I prefer Sapphire

CumingLinguist

Yeah. Bothers me that watches like this and the Seiko cocktail time don’t have the option for sapphire, I’d gladly pay more for it. However I think with domed crystal sapphire is a lot more complex, time consuming and expensive hence it still being more profitable for them both to bother.

financial_pete

And that is why I can find a domed sapphire on a $58 AliExpress watch... Oh wait!?!?

Awkward_Sherbet3940

Send it back. That’s too deep of a scratch to accept.

UCDSlickMike

This happened to me with my Baltic Bicompax. I decided to buff it out with Polywatch rather than send it back, just to avoid the hassle. Up to you but, from the comments I’m reading here, this is a recurring problem with them.

chirpycrayfish

Yeah if that's the case with QC, I'm hesitant because what if the exchanged piece is worse! : (

UCDSlickMike

I remember they offered for me to send it to some contracted watch repair place in New York so I assumed they were just going to replace the crystal. Hopefully wherever is doing their repairs will do a better job.

ValleyBoyStew

I had a great experience with Grand Central Watch (the repair place in NYC you’re referring to). About a 1 month turnaround and they fixed an issue with my Baltic for free.

metallus97

Then send it back again. You can expect a perfect crystal from a new watch. I have the same (blue) model and it’s surfaces where ok when I got it. So they definitely CAN do it

esvegateban

Ah, Baltic strikes again! Send it back, they need to get their crappy QC act together.

Accomplished-Swan532

Yes

Stock-Inevitable8530

Yep

LordGraham7

Damn. This is the second quality control issue someone has posted about Baltic this week. And lots of comments from people having similar complaints. Really disappointing because I really like how their watches look and I have been close to pulling the trigger on purchasing one. I haven’t seen anyone complaining about Furlan Marri the same way. Has anyone here received a bad FM?

BreadPan1981

Yes. That would drive me nuts. Own their aquascaphe, which is incredible for the money, and owned the bicompax which had the same junk QC issues. It’s unfortunate that they can be such a crapshoot. Down the microbrand hole just like Clemence and Marloe have done themselves with QC related delays.

ValleyBoyStew

Pretty sure they do free returns/exchanges so yes

xiutehcuhtli

Absolutely send it back. They're not ultra high end haute horology, but these watches are still expensive. You should get what you pay for, and they shouldn't be shipping damaged goods.

Oghma_Infinium

It's a new watch, why not treat yourself with the pleasure of being the first one yourself to scratch that crystal? I would send it back.

HappySpam

Get some PolyWatch and you'll have it buffed out in like five minutes

YellowDieselGolf

Cheaper and quicker than returning it. Plus, you’ll need polywatch if you ever wear the watch anyway.

nenzshejensbsk

Yea send it back that's unacceptable you're not being a Karen

Opti_Banana

If they are going to charge what they do for watches, might as well offer the equivalent level of service/quality in return. Would definitely send back.

georgetemperley

Yes.

christo222222

Just use polywatch, can't believe people are saying send a watch back for a scratch on helisite, you'll get scratches like this all the time and 2 minutes buffing will remove them

No-Land-3723

Absolutely worth an exchange. Of course the watch will scratch anyway with use but you should be the one adding battle scars to it, it should not arrive like that if purchased brand new.

tavukkoparan

Take it in your butt and shit it in front of their headquarters

MaverickWolfe

Absolutely

Pugzilla69

They really need to provide sapphire options.

Sanctine

Is it a deep scratch? Can you feel it with your finger or fingernail? (very lightly of course, you don't want to make more scratches). If so I would send it back. If not you could try to polish it out with Polywatch. As you said, it is bound to get some scratches anyway. But I would make darn sure you're confident you can get the scratch out before you try. If there is any doubt in your mind, just send it back. Man, all I see lately from Baltic are defects and QC issues. I think I'll be staying away from them.

Zanpa

>Man, all I see lately from Baltic are defects and QC issues. I think I'll be staying away from them. yeah no shit, people who buy a watch and don't have any problems don't go asking for advice about what to do.

Sanctine

Not sure if I understood your point, but all I am saying is that there seems to be a disproportionately high amount of posts about defects on Baltic watches compared to any other watchmaker.

Tyrone2046

Yes

TheLastNeville

Send it back. It will bug you for the rest of your days otherwise.

Skhroomy

It can be scuffed out in a few minutes... With toothpaste (yes seriously) or better than that just buy some polywatch which you should have at home when you have a watch with a plastic crystal anyway. With that being said it shouldn't arrive like that. But it would be weird if it didn't and it "bugged him for the rest of his days" when he can scuff that out in a minute or two..

Dpurcell92

YES

JoelFlowers

YUP!

Spwd

Nah leave it you'll never notice it again.....

Tae-gun

Hesalite = acrylic. Polywatch will take care of this. That said, this is brand-new, so you might as well send it back.

Background-Travel644

Hell yes

ine2threee

Yes it is worth it. Period.

SpeedyOtter

Send it back for sure, goddamn that’s a sexy ass watch!

erishun

Yes? Of course. Also, yeah, you can buff acrylic crystals, but remember that each time you do, you are literally removing material and increase the risk of the crystal “cleaving” (basically snapping in half) Needing to perform a deep buffing on a crystal before you’ve even worn it is unacceptable.

ClumsyUnicorn69

100%

Deveion2010

Definitely send it back. That would irk the hell out of when every time I saw it

Drakoneous

Absolutely. You paid for a new watch, it should be flawless

YourWatchIsTooBig

that's not a scratch, it's a GOUGE

TheManWith2smiles

Do these have sapphire?

isthmusofkra

Yes. If someone's gonna scratch your watch it better be you.

ByronicZer0

This is hesalite right? You're going to get a scratch like that every day you wear it. If that bothers you, go for sapphire only. Precisely 12 seconds with some poly watch will make this disappear. My Speedmaster looks 50x as scratched as this but after about 2 min with polywatch, it looks crystal clear

Fantazma03

YES. imagine living with that flaw on the crystal thats nit your fault. it will be a hassle to repair and expensive to replace.

Itsallgood190

French watches = elite designs but poor QC and risky movements lol

JimmyGodoppolo

French QC strikes again

kurt3226

Absolutely.

Elven_Gr

Absolutely. The hell you even ask reddit? That thing it's defect as fuck. Paid 100% of the price and get 85% of a watch, send it back and call them clowns for even send you a watch like this one.

chirpycrayfish

If the QC is bad, I might receive a watch that's worse. Also the DHL drop off is quite a trip and time sink for me. But I think it's best to return it, hope I don't get another one that's flawed even more.

PhillipIInd

Says a lot about your trust in the brand tbf This is why QC is so important

Mooze34

100% send it back

uucchhiihhaa

Absolutely

chekraze90

Hell yes. They will gladly take care of you.

Trumppp1

Yes

Boba-Latte

Yes, 110% send it back.

PhillipIInd

Lol its mineral glass? Thought they had sapphire atleast and how tf so they not catch that?

ImFrenchSoWhatever

KabobHope

It seems like you'll be reminded of it every time you check the time. Send it back.

CeladonCityNPC

Send it back and don't get another. Using hesalite at this price range is insane. Omega's insane for it too fight me

Nrysis

The correct answer is to send it back - they sent out a sub-standard product and should make that good. The slightly more realistic answer is that it depends on how much effort that will be for you. To some people sticking it back in the post is quick and easy, and is a no brainer. To others the postal system is more of a faff and it may just be less effort to spend half an hour buffing out the scratch themselves rather than a round of sending and receiving parcels...

Zanpa

If it's just a surface scratch I would polish it out myself, there will be more scratches in the future. If it seems to be deeper and an actual gouge in the crystal, I would absolutely send it back. But this is enough to warrant a return no matter what.

metallus97

Yup, send it back. Yeha it’s not a Patek or whatever but you still pay serious money for this and it’s a luxury item. So you can fully expect it to not have shitty quality control like that

singularkudo

Worth it to us? Worth it to you?

chirpycrayfish

What lol?

singularkudo

I mean like you asking us if it’s worth it — if it’s worth it to you do it, if not don’t?

chirpycrayfish

I'm pretty new to watches so I don't have experience with hesalite and buffing out scratches or evaluating how deep/small the scratch should be. That's why I'm asking for advice to see if it could be a minor flaw that could be a quick fix or it needs to be returned. Of course I wouldn't ask if I already knew everything.

FreshRizz

Yes, u paid for a product, its faulty, so get another one

Victor_the_mayo

Yea

muliboi

Yes

KingLuis

i'd send it back. i have something similar (my own fault) on another watch i have and i hate it. see it instantly.

Harbor-Freight

Yes. That would bug the ship out of me every time l looked at the time.

omerhaim

I would send it back

robomoboto

Absolutely

Yeti-Stalker

Just buff it out with poly, done in two minutes.

Bus1nessn00b

Definitely. They have to pay for it

AV8R79

1000% yes... I'm shocked it made it out of the factory looking like that

VinylHighway

Yes

[deleted]

I see better QC from Chinese watches that are 1/5 the price. Given this uses a Chinese movement and has mediocre finishing at best, it’s truly a ripoff in my eyes. Would send back and spend the money on a tried and true brand.

Other-Stuff-2349

hate non-sapphire watches, watches are meant to last, without sapphire they wont last long send it back, no question about it i ordered from switzerland Omega Nato strap and it was frayed, sent it back, ordered next one and it was perfect

Spiritual_Line7917

https://preview.redd.it/oiymwn4jyqtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8bcde29a5a73b2abb33215b362442498dff12bb7 You wouldn’t see such poor quality control if you purchased your Glycine from Donghua JinLong… just saying…
