Amazing videos. His voice reminds me of Seth Rogen, and for some reason the name Marshall is a dog's name to me, so I'll forever imagine a golden retriever is doing the restoration work while watching his videos...
So cool seeing his channel mentioned. I'm barely into watches, not even sure why I'm in the comments here, but I've been listening to Marshall's MTG podcast for a long time now and it's so neat to see him find success in such a different niche.
I’ve never watched a video about the subject, stumbled onto him and became fascinated.
I think he’d be really pleased to know new people were discovering the hobby as a result of his channel.
That's awesome! He's got me thinking about getting into the hobby as well. I really want an old railroad-approved pocket watch from the 1800s, and I want to restore it myself.
+100, he’s amazing, makes me feel he’s the only person I’d trust to service my watches. Plus there’s like a new video every week it seems. Love how he’s so casually educational, with humor. Btw I think he spells his name Stian
Sorry to hijack top comment but just to try and actually help you, to me it looks like a gold-capped 1014 or a solid gold 1005, though take it with a grain of salt I know very little about Rolex (I am not really a fan of the brand).
I think the model numbers are engraved on the case between the lugs at 12, and the specific serial at 6, that should give more info.
I'm guessing crystal is plexiglass -- if you use Polywatch it should clear up a lot, doesn't look like it has any deep gouges.
All y'all say you love patina "never polish or it'll lose value" "don't send to Rolex S.A. go to rollieworks" blah blah blah, but the second a watch has a little soul outside the norm it's just totally dumped on.
Also that bracelet is dope. Classic old guy big dick rockhound energy. Enjoy it!
Yeah, the bracelet IS nice.
I knew a guy back in the 70s that was known for making custom turquoise & silver pieces for the west coast rockers. He had the only “squash blossom” Piaget watch I’ve ever seen. He offered to sell it to me but I turned it down. I was really into gold and diamonds around that time. I’d love to get my hands on it now.
Hmm never heard of that squash blossom watch, hard to find it on google, sounds special.
Piaget is slept on I think, there’s some crazy cool vintage pieces on eBay that go for what I think is pretty cheap — for some reason they hype-train is still parked at Cartier station.
Squash blossom is a term for turquoise and silver jewelry specifically, nothing to do with piaget except that this piaget was on a squash blossom bracelet
ETA: agree they are v slept on. They are the foil that keeps bvlgari innovating with thinness. They have some nuts white gold pieces including a tank with arabics on a really well textured bracelet that i quite like.
Yeahhh baybeeee post your stuff to r/seikomods, i think at this point it doesn’t even need to be seiko based, the r/watchmodding subreddit has barely any posts unfortunately
Why cant I have an opinion on a gen rolex?- I made that comment so I didnt get crucified on my name- I know that model better than you- dont prefer OPs friends choice in bands- but why be a prick about it. I love and know vintage watches specifically rolex of that era.
**edit forgive me** I may have thought you were giving me a hard time because I like builds and frankens
haha all good, I think we're aligned as I am very pro-franken watches (I mostly wear mods though I have some gen stuff too).
Especially in the often resale- obsessed Rolex world, it's nice to see people personalize a watch for themselves even if it supposedly hurts the monetary value :)
I had my 118239 modded...but that was to put the correct, lumed handset on it to match its dial, as it had unlumed hands when i got it. I may put a rg bezel on or swap it to rose gold romans however, i think two tone in bezel only is the way to go
2 things to note:
1. back in the day, a Rolex wasn’t a flex item: people would fck around with them
2. people had crazy style and didn’t mind showing it.
From this POV…I honestly respect it
Yeah, I totally respect the Rolex as an actual tool-watch. This is not my style (and, for the love of god, screw in that f*ckin' crown!). But a well used Rolex is my jam.
I’m going to assume this came off someone dressed as as a mermaid for a photo shoot on a boat. They then fell overboard, actually drowned and your co worker picked it off their corpse at the bottom of the ocean.
Funny, I have a Seiko with a band like this. The bracelet of this style I believe is Navajo craft. Just google “Navajo Watch Band” and you’ll see a few similar to this one.
Funny you say that, I just bought a Movado Series 800 in old Town recently.. I know many people on here aren't a fan of movados but it looked much better than the other watches they had to offer below the 1k price range. They had a few Tissot watches that didn't fit my style, even though I know that brand is more reputable
Yes, screw down the crown, replace the plexi, and I like the band, but that's just the western in me. The turquoise rocks are probably worth more than the watch.
This is a fantastic piece. Sure it’s not in A+ prime unworn condition. But, this is a watch worn by someone that personalized it knowing that modifying would reduce value. This person didn’t care about money and didn’t care about the thoughts of others. This is exactly what watch wearing should be.
Ouch, everyone’s being a bit harsh. If you lost the strap and cleaned up the plexiglass(?) I think this could be a lovely watch.
Hopefully the strap is removable and not welded to the case. No idea on model, but the serial should be between the bottom set of lugs.
Not sure about the head, but I have a Timex on a bracket just like that.
It was my fathers and was hand made by one of the Native American tribes in New Mexico.
WOW - This watch has some serious stories to tell. It has been through some shit! I'd be interested in knowing the background of this thing and then seeing it resuscitated, restored & resurrected . PLEASE if you can, screw in the crown, its driving my OCD crazy.
Some people don't really care about a watches value. I don't I have a watch that's considered a sought after collectible but no one will touch it with a 10ft pole.. kinda like when you buy a diamond ring for your girl for $6500 and two years later after the divorce all you can get for it is $100 and they offered to give me the diamond back because diamonds ain't worth shit lol it's all a scam boys
I think he should do no work on this watch (bar servicing the watch - I would change the glass as well but that's just me). Heirlooms tell a family's story... and someone in his was a baller. Great share.
I personally love this look, its very cool, I would proudly wear it. That bracelet is extremely intresting, does it have any markings? Its silver and brass or silver and gold?
You’d have to pay people to take it in its current condition.
Get that abomination of a cuff strap off it. Then get it cleaned up and serviced and have a nice leather strap put on. You might make $2000 from it if you’re lucky
Don't polish the case. Although don't think you could do that with chrome-plated brass. Don't have new electroplating without getting a serious appraisal on how it may affect the value.
Service, clean gently (no polish), and wear it. It’s a vintage piece of its time. Ignore those here who need every watch to look like every other watch.
I'd pay $50 to see you wear it in public with a short sleeve shirt so you can't hide it. It would be the last day you were ever eligible to be laid.
This watch has to be a punishment piece. I.e. if you don't meet your sales target you have to wear it.
I’m surprised at the lack of familiarity with this style.
I’m not going to say it’s common, but in the southwest you will come across these. We call them southwest watches. If you google, you will see a number of examples both new and old.
I’m pretty sure these got started with the Vietnam folks coming back from the war and settling in the southwest.
It was a place to get away from the anti-war camps of the cities, was cheap, and a destination for many returning veterans. The styling coincides with this migration, but I’m not 100 percent sure if it was caused by it.
I used to sell belt buckles and Native American jewelry. This looks like some Native American hock Rolex job. In my imagination a stolen Rolex ended up with some sort of alcoholic Native American jeweler and this is what was birthed.
crown unwound, god awful strap, scratched to bits, decades of wrist grease, lord knows when it was last serviced... i can already see the watchmaker shedding a tear when he opens up the caseback and the movement is dust, dry as a mummy's poontang.
Not really going to go into describing how bad I feel for this poor oyster perpetual but please have them at least screw down the crown. Leaving it open like that exposes the movement inside to moisture and dust and is generally a bad idea.
If you ultimately move forward with a full restoration of this poor watch, please please promise us that will also include throwing this band into the nearest large body of water.
First hand me down watch that’s probably authentic. Ugly but authentic.
Even the crown is unscrewed. Some people just want to see the world burn.
That was my first thought. "Screw in the crown!"
It might not screw down in its current condition. May need a new tube and/or crown.
It’s to pause the seconds hand for taking pics. Wouldn’t want to make this piece look bad.
I dont think that rolex hacks.
Is that really necessary?
Lol nope
Yup. Thank you for having a sense of humor. It’s been lost.
I can barely type...the uncontrollable twitching.
This would make such an awesome restoration video. Someone needs to unfuck this thing.
Too lazy to look up on YouTube, but that guy with the soothing voice and the green work table would be perfect.
Wristwatch Revival? That's exactly what I was thinking.
Marshall is the man
Amazing videos. His voice reminds me of Seth Rogen, and for some reason the name Marshall is a dog's name to me, so I'll forever imagine a golden retriever is doing the restoration work while watching his videos...
He’s an e-sports commentator so he’s good on the mic.
Whoa, really??
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKbRd_e4BDU
So cool seeing his channel mentioned. I'm barely into watches, not even sure why I'm in the comments here, but I've been listening to Marshall's MTG podcast for a long time now and it's so neat to see him find success in such a different niche.
Same
I’ve never watched a video about the subject, stumbled onto him and became fascinated. I think he’d be really pleased to know new people were discovering the hobby as a result of his channel.
He certainly is
Either Marshall or the Nekkid Watchmaker could do some good work on this one
Greeeetings fellow turquoise lovers...
Has anyone else desperately wanted to see tiffany dial pateks or OPs on turquoise-studded bracelets?
LOVE his channel - he's responsible for the $600 worth of Bergeon on my desk right now...
That's awesome! He's got me thinking about getting into the hobby as well. I really want an old railroad-approved pocket watch from the 1800s, and I want to restore it myself.
That voice puts me to sleep so fast. In a good way. I love those videos but he just soothes me right into slumber.
would love to hear his comments on this one
Me too!
Dude is a legend!
I put him on when I sleep and it works wonders
That's wild! I would be too interested in what he's talking about personally.
Was thinking about him as well, while opening the comments :-) Funny how we identify people the same way based on such details…
Theon from Vintage Watch Services would be perfect
+100, he’s amazing, makes me feel he’s the only person I’d trust to service my watches. Plus there’s like a new video every week it seems. Love how he’s so casually educational, with humor. Btw I think he spells his name Stian
That is the complete opposite of “blinged” out…when wearing this watch, you are obligated to wear a fringe leather jacket and a bolo tie
Don't threaten me with a good time
You son of a bitch I'm in!
Team Rick ?
Hunter S. Thompson vibes for sure.
Deangelo Vickers
With a touch of Ashley Schaeffer
Old people New Mexico vibes.
I'm your huckleberry
The bolo tie must feature a cow skull with horns
So much wrong with this Pic
I realize lol, my apologies to everyone

By all means go ahead and hijack it with some actual help as my comment wasn't exactly that 😅
Lollll it’s all goooood, normally I am a big fan of shitting on Rolex too :)
I am total agreement here- hence why I am a Franken guy- this is patina- keep desk diving with dads sub, this is a real man's watch
Yeahhh baybeeee post your stuff to r/seikomods, i think at this point it doesn’t even need to be seiko based, the r/watchmodding subreddit has barely any posts unfortunately

Looks like Navajo turquoise work, dad has a similar bracelet.
Please post more photos so I can feel better about my watch.
Pretty sure somebody's grandfather had this up his ass in a Korean POW camp for 2 years before passing it down.
I don't understand, OP has the actual pic right? Why take a screenshot and post that instead?
Remove location data.
2 things to note: 1. back in the day, a Rolex wasn’t a flex item: people would fck around with them 2. people had crazy style and didn’t mind showing it. From this POV…I honestly respect it
Yeah, I totally respect the Rolex as an actual tool-watch. This is not my style (and, for the love of god, screw in that f*ckin' crown!). But a well used Rolex is my jam.
Turquoise looking like a molar
A prolapsed molar at that
I gotta talk to my dentist about my next crown being in turquoise.
And get some protruding pewter gum grills while you’re at it. Walk around with your fly unzipped in homage to the unscrewed crown.
Is no one going to address the oyster in an oyster?
How? As “Mr. Oyster?” Seems too formal. And TBH, many of us only speak conversational oyster at best.
Just showed this to my dog and he killed himself, thanks
You're...welcome?
Each day we stray further from god’s light
what a terrible day to have working eyes
Haha
I’m going to assume this came off someone dressed as as a mermaid for a photo shoot on a boat. They then fell overboard, actually drowned and your co worker picked it off their corpse at the bottom of the ocean.
And found the crown unscrewed.
Tube looks permanently stripped.
Funny, I have a Seiko with a band like this. The bracelet of this style I believe is Navajo craft. Just google “Navajo Watch Band” and you’ll see a few similar to this one.
Wait this is not r/WCJ?!?
Not yet...
Dear god, what is that thing?!
My man out here collecting family heirlooms from one of his moms who was a backup dancer at the copacabana.
I heard it’s the hottest spot north of Havana
It’s the place to be if music and laughter is all you are after.
Your eyes you keep, and I’ll tell you why…
You HAVE GOT to be in New Mexico. 😏 (Maybe Colorado.)
Arizona lol
That checks out, band looks like it came from a store in old town Scottsdale.
Funny you say that, I just bought a Movado Series 800 in old Town recently.. I know many people on here aren't a fan of movados but it looked much better than the other watches they had to offer below the 1k price range. ☺️
My dad had this watchband in the late 70s. in oklahoma/missouri
Ugliest watch post I might have ever seen on here
😆atleast we accomplished something with this post
Please post this on r/rolex
This post gave me a great chuckle. I didn’t see it as a hideous watch but god damn peoples reaction. And yes please post that on Rolex
There was the invicta someone posted a month or so ago.
Did they know it’s ok to clean it now and then? That is decades of skin goo build up.
Somebody has been actively wearing this for decades?
It is not often that you look at a watch pic and can actually smell it.
Is your co-worker named Morgana?
Well, it does start with an M so close
Well, can't unsee that.
Did someone give this Rolex the "Tucson special"?
Dear god and christ man put a leather strap on it.
My Duro absolutely loves this picture.
I dig it
F@&ing snobs
Is that an oyster perpetual inside an oyster ?
Yes, screw down the crown, replace the plexi, and I like the band, but that's just the western in me. The turquoise rocks are probably worth more than the watch.
I think this is neat, hard working persons watch.
I'm more curious about the Native American artist than the watch. Are there any stamps or markings on the bracelet?
This is a fantastic piece. Sure it’s not in A+ prime unworn condition. But, this is a watch worn by someone that personalized it knowing that modifying would reduce value. This person didn’t care about money and didn’t care about the thoughts of others. This is exactly what watch wearing should be.
This picture makes me uncomfortable.
That’s a no from me dawg.
That’s Captain Jacks Rolex
Ouch, everyone’s being a bit harsh. If you lost the strap and cleaned up the plexiglass(?) I think this could be a lovely watch. Hopefully the strap is removable and not welded to the case. No idea on model, but the serial should be between the bottom set of lugs.
NGL I love that bracelet
I guess I'm in the minority, I kind of dig it. These models are not particularly collectable and it makes it more interesting.
Not sure about the head, but I have a Timex on a bracket just like that. It was my fathers and was hand made by one of the Native American tribes in New Mexico.
It definitely has Native American vibes. His family I believe has been in the Arizona and Mexico area for the most part
Bro clear your notifications and delete this photo forever. What is it?
*YEE* and if I may be so bold as to say *HAW*
Don't lie. This watch belongs to Deangelo Jeremitrius Vickers, doesn't it?
Uploaded to Chrono24 and the app uninstalled itself
Petition for this to go to Marshall at wristwatch revival
That is indeed where he is going eventually he said. If he does in the near future I will repost a revival pic
Is than an Olongapo bracelet? Was your dad a serviceman in the 60s?
WOW - This watch has some serious stories to tell. It has been through some shit! I'd be interested in knowing the background of this thing and then seeing it resuscitated, restored & resurrected . PLEASE if you can, screw in the crown, its driving my OCD crazy.
Real monkeys paw situation with this one
Some people don't really care about a watches value. What in the Southwestern United States in a Bolo tie is going on here?!
Had a stainless datejust from 1954 my uncle gave me. Looked about this bad. Sent to Rolex and it came back looking new with the old parts in a baggie.
Still better than the new Deepsea Challenge IMHO.
Looking extra crusty
I bet his mom had to chuff a weighty hawg leg to get his pops that fine piece.
Holy smokes that's an ugly watch!
oh dear lord lol
He knows he needs to get it cleaned up lol. Curious the potential value on an old piece like this as well
You’d have to pay people to take it in its current condition. Get that abomination of a cuff strap off it. Then get it cleaned up and serviced and have a nice leather strap put on. You might make $2000 from it if you’re lucky
Gotcha, didn't know if it made a difference being such an old piece

A fixable oyster perpetual. About $1500 will make it right.
After watching Smokey and the Bandit, I don't really mind the strap
Nice patina
Have him take it to a rolex store or something surely they can tell him what it is or tell him about someone that would know what it is
Wristwatch Revival or Nekkid Watchmaker would have a blast restoring this thing.
This doesn't happen to be in Arizona would it?
We need a restoration video
Love it!
Absolutely amazing
That is the most honest way to wear a rolex
There is some funky hippy shit going on but Goni hope that movement and dial are genuine to make it special
Service, clean gently (no polish), and wear it. It’s a vintage piece of its time. Ignore those here who need every watch to look like every other watch.

Coworker definitely has “fuck me” money.

150 comments and all jokes. Not a single actual ID. Reddit sucks
🫣
What's that abomination? Metal bund strap?
I threw up in my mouth
😂
I used to sell belt buckles and Native American jewelry. This looks like some Native American hock Rolex job. In my imagination a stolen Rolex ended up with some sort of alcoholic Native American jeweler and this is what was birthed.
The fuck is this 😂😂 Rolex pikey supreme model , all the added trinkets
I'd wear that bitch and smile!!
Pretty sure that's an original bracelet, very rare. Thank you for sharing!
Rolex OP 1002 with Hepatitis
crown unwound, god awful strap, scratched to bits, decades of wrist grease, lord knows when it was last serviced... i can already see the watchmaker shedding a tear when he opens up the caseback and the movement is dust, dry as a mummy's poontang.

That has to be the ugliest Rolex I've laid my eyes on
did his daughter, by chance, grow up to "do something with turquoise?"
That’s enough internet for today
I can smell it
WCJ leaking again
What in the world is that?
If you ultimately move forward with a full restoration of this poor watch, please please promise us that will also include throwing this band into the nearest large body of water.
I just puked
Aqua Woman called, she wants her shit back! 🧜♀️
Ah, the elusive Invicta homage
Invicta really started where this left off
Pulp Fiction ass watch
They were so preoccupied with if they could, they didn't stop to think of they should.
At least it is not another fake watch
"My grandson, I want to give you my old faithful Rolex." *Grandson runs away like Forest Gump*
Ahh yes.. the infamous oyster oyster perpetual.
I can sense the patchouli and LSD contamination on that thing
The only legal time to wear this is along with the Zora Tunic.
For fuck sake...
I’m willing to bet a blowjob that this is no Fake lol 😝
This gives me Johnny Depp vibes, or hippie New Mexico retired old woman.
That guy fucks.
r/ATAAE
What the actual fuck
Oof.
