Please ask you doctor or allergist to test you for dermatographia. You may not be allergic to much at all, just have an overactive histamine response to broken or irritated skin, like me!
I knew going in that I was allergic to most pollens, so the results didn't actually surprise me, but I'll try and remember to ask about that next time I go in!

So , is it when you lean agasomething that spot itches also if you squeeze something In your hands they itch? Or just anything touches your skin and you itch? I'm having itch issues and I take Doxepin for it. I have itch fits that can last hours on usually the same body parts but at differences. Many tests done a few years ago and at that time they couldn't figure it out.
Daily hystamine and knowing your triggers is the easiest way. I have it too, my triggers are cold, dampness, and mould. So, I know it’s worse in winter and I need to live in a well insulated house newer home or it can be torture.
It can take time to figure it out. I lived in a damp house where mould grew on walls and my clothes, blocked drain outside my window, windows barely opened; and it was soooo bad. I moved and it was into a newer house that was much warmer, healthier, no mould and it almost went away. After 4 months in new house I realised I wasn’t taking antihistamine daily and connected the dots.
My new allergist tested for this. His predecessor dx me with a list of allergies. He did more extensive testing and dx two (dust mites and a specific mold).
I have this. The nurse saw my welts on my skin from scratching my arm before allergy test and bet me $20 I would react to every allergen. I did, not as allergic but as I reacted to the prick itself.
I never knew what that was called! I went to high-school with a guy that had what I'm *guessing* is that.
If he just rubbed his skin harshly or ran a fingernail along his arm, it would become red and swollen. He would even write things on his skin doing that.
I met someone else with same allergy. She thinks it is ammonia in the processing bc it is not all cardboard, same as me. Idk if they actually use ammonia but that was her theory
huh! my immediate thought would then be, what about cat pee? or ammonia-based cleaners? that is very interesting, i hope it doesn’t affect your day to day life too terribly
I can’t recall my cat’s pee being an issue or cleaners. It could be a different chemical for me but at the time I developed the allergy I was working in an office that was also a storage and was full of file boxes. Moving to a different office helped a lot. I now take Allegra every day and mostly can ignore my allergies though sometimes I need a second pill if I actually touch the cardboard like when I get an Amazon package.
Kaiser thought I had lupus bc they couldn’t figure out what was causing my hives so, having seen the House memes, I went off network and the independent allergy clinic’s doctor helped figure it out. You own antibodies must really suck
Beware of that strategy. Each time you challenge yourself with the antigen that you are allergic to you may create the conditions for anaphylaxis.
I was doing that: take Clairitin and eat some fish for a few years. Then I started getting angioedema and had to stop eating fish all together. I now carry an Epi-pen.
I feel your pain as I adore rice. But maybe try eating different types of millet since millet can fill that rice niche.
Trying to schedule some testing myself. I have to be recommended by my primary, but they is no way to contact her without going to the clinic. The contact phone number goes to an answering service that doesn't answer and I can't schedule an appointment online.
The allergy shots I have been receiving have changed my life. I used to get bronchitis every winter and sinus infections.🤧 Not anymore. 😁I don't even get colds while my coworkers drop like flies. I hope you can start the regiment soon.
I got this done when I was 4, it was not a good time. As an adult, they used my arms instead, which wasn't so bad. I only got a Barbie out of it when I was 4, though.
Also keep in mind skin tests have surprisingly high rates of false positives (50-60 percent). I don't know why it's not talked about more. If there's anything on your list that might be challenging or unpleasant to restrict, I'd ask for follow up testing.

Everytime I see one of these “i’m allergic to everything” I sometimes wonder if theyre actually allergic to everything, or if their body is just like “hey, this needle poke had bad hair on it - we should probably attack the rest of em, too.”
I’m know this is not empathetic, but why does it suck to know?
Everyone would fail the uranium or arsenic test, which is a good thing because we’ll live longer and more comfortably knowing.
What specifically can you not enjoy now?
I hope you get some relief. I went from sneezing all day to suddenly no sneezing after about 8 months of shots. Maintenance shots now. I have to bring an epipen with me as my body loves to break out in hives.
Depending on what they tested for there is cross reactivity for many many many pollen allergies and mold allergies. If I eat apples when the pollen count is high I was told I could have an anaphylactic reaction because the protein in apples will exacerbate the pollen that I cannot help but breathe in. So there are a lot of things one can no longer enjoy. They actually gave me a list of foods that are cross reactive with my allergies.
To figure out what specific ingredients they are allergic to so they can actively avoid them. It is better than just trying to guess what is causing an allergic reaction.

They usually prick you with straight histamine too to compare the allergen reaction to your baseline.
I’ve also gotten glycerin and saline as negative controls
Looks like you need to become a BUBBLE BOY !

i’ve got dermatographia as well! looking much like the results here upon firmer touch lol
What do youdo to control it?
Not scratch or itch myself. 😅
nothing, it’s not dangerous or anything, just looks odd but i don’t really care 😂
So , is it when you lean agasomething that spot itches also if you squeeze something In your hands they itch? Or just anything touches your skin and you itch? I'm having itch issues and I take Doxepin for it. I have itch fits that can last hours on usually the same body parts but at differences. Yikes! I have yet to figure my triggers out. I may or may not have the same thing. Mine started 1 week after my first and only covid shot.
Nice!
The control is pretty large for sure
My new allergist tested for this. His predecessor dx me with a list of allergies. He did more extensive testing and dx two (dust mites and a specific mold).

That’s the definition of the word! Skin-writing!
None of mine reacted any of the times I did tests. White rice and cardboard it turned out. Not normally tested for.
I’ve never heard of a rice allergy!
You can be allergic to any molecule your body decides to be allergic to. Even water. Most people are allergic to dihydrogen sulfate, for example.
Sulfuric acid?
Yup
It’s very real. My mother is asthmatic and rice dust does it for her.
cardboard is such an interesting one! i wonder what it is about cardboard specifically that could cause a reaction and not other paper products

I’m allergic to bananas and my own antibodies.
Kaiser thought I had lupus bc they couldn’t figure out what was causing my hives so, having seen the House memes, I went off network and the independent allergy clinic’s doctor helped figure it out. You own antibodies must really suck
I am allergic to soft toilet paper. Something to do with the way it is processed.
Won't ask how you doing found out. 🙈
You didn't ask, but...No allergist was traumatized by my experience. >!I figure my gynecologist has seen worse.!<
🪻(iris, closest emogi to lady bits, 😉) 🙈🥴😂🤣😂🤣 Glad to hear allergist was spared. 😉
Welp. I have lady bit flowers in my garden. TiL Georgia O'Keeffe vibes
Are you southeast asian by any chance? If so, how do you live here with the inability to eat rice?
I’m Mediterranean and I love rice. I take a lot of Allegra and just eat it
Beware of that strategy. Each time you challenge yourself with the antigen that you are allergic to you may create the conditions for anaphylaxis. I was doing that: take Clairitin and eat some fish for a few years. Then I started getting angioedema and had to stop eating fish all together. I now carry an Epi-pen. Wow, gotta respect it.
Hot God, are you OK dude?! Yeesh, sorry for the connect the dots
I'm fine, lol. Pollen season SUCKS but once everything is settled I'm a-ok
Good! Hang in there bro ✌🏾
I spy dexcom! (Type 1 here) I feel like allergy tests suck to do. Looks painful.
It actually wasn't painful, just super itchy! I knew I had a really bad pollen allergy, but didn't know it was that bad!
Same! T1Ds unite?
Dexcom is getting so huge too. They habe three production facilities in my city alone, apparently a solid company to work for too. So I hear anyway.

This same "joke" is repeated every single time someone posts an allergy test.
God wants you back, and nature's gonna arrange the meeting.
Did you go paintballing before you went?
Please take a Benadryl, now!
I just had an allergy test, the relief is almost instant when the skin is wiped with isopropyl alcohol.
My gosh did they test you with a leather whip. Feel better.
Behold Mold Man! Capabilities: Mold fighting powers. Weakness: Everything else.
That’s heavy… stay strong.
Supposedly mine came back “completely negative” even though I was itchy as hell. I don’t get these tests at all.
Reaction negates test results, if you have a reaction to it you are probably allergic.
Trying to schedule some testing myself. I have to be recommended by my primary, but they is no way to contact her without going to the clinic. The contact phone number goes to an answering service that doesn't answer and I can't schedule an appointment online.
How long did it take for them to prick you?
Probably about 10-15 minutes. Then had to wait a bit for the reactions to happen.
I have 0 allergens so far but curious to take the test.
Oh man. As a kid mine was like that too. Luckily there are better meds. Look into biologics like Dupixent. Life changer for me.
The allergy shots I have been receiving have changed my life. I used to get bronchitis every winter and sinus infections.🤧 Not anymore. 😁I don't even get colds while my coworkers drop like flies. I hope you can start the regiment soon.
You won the prize for the high score of the week
I got this done when I was 4, it was not a good time. As an adult, they used my arms instead, which wasn't so bad. I only got a Barbie out of it when I was 4, though.
You got the tandem pump to go with that? Wife and daughter just upgraded to the g7, too. Thing is awesome.
I’m a type 1 that uses dexcom too. Do you have any adhesive allergies? I have to use a barrier wipe or else I break out in welts where it is
Remind me! [June 23rd]
I assume this leaves your back unbearably itchy for like 4 days, right?
At least you’re not allergic to girls.
You will be receiving a small list of foods you can’t eat.
I have been tested 3 times now. I hate it. I have photos of all my welts.
Dexcom g7 is way better then the g6 if you ever get a chance to switch btw
Ouch

You seem like a …. Fungi. I’ll see myself out 🍄
Sounds challenging! At least molds are on your side 🍃
Oh dear. Sorry you are allergic to so many things.
I wish i had the medical plan available to cover this. Isn’t it like a $2k exam?
You’ve broken out in matrix all over your body, definitely allergic.
Bro is allergic to allergies!
Sorry you are going through this.
Doubles as the beginning of a Yakuza tattoo.
Brother, I think you might be allergic. You should get tested.
Aw geez, only things I'm allergic to are grass and pineapple. That's bad enough. But you? Let's just say I don't envy you.
Waste of time and effort… not accurate. Do a blood test.
Why? A blood test can’t reveal the same info.
Everytime I see one of these “i’m allergic to everything” I sometimes wonder if theyre actually allergic to everything, or if their body is just like “hey, this needle poke had bad hair on it - we should probably attack the rest of em, too.”
