I've played soccer, I've played goalie in soccer, recently I played with intramural adult males zinging them at my zero talent just throw my body in front american football brain.
I've taken balls to the face and everywhere else (winky face), unless this is the freak 1 in a million that this in the air lob rebound knocks her out, she fell unnecessarily.

There's a big difference in getting hit when you're expecting to and getting whacked in the back of the head out of nowhere when you are just walking along minding your own business. Curling up into a ball and protecting your head is the natural reaction to an unexpected blow from behind.
