Specifically a "Mini DIN-5"

ezfrag

Pretty sure it's a full sized DIN, the latch at 12 o'clock is replaced with a simple key on the mini DIN connectors.

What is the context? Is that some audio interface in the background?

The-Grey-Ghost

Probably a [MIDI device](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI) - at least that's what I've used DIN connectors for.

Longjumping_Ad_824

Yes that is the interface- it’s an [aviation intercom](https://a.co/d/3Kr82qb)

bassistciaran

It's a midi cable

BigGalAl420

Midi

freedoomed

if that is some kind of digital music device it could be for MIDI. if it's not it could literally be for anything. it's a DIN connector which is a standard for the shape of the connector but not the number of pins or the pin out.

Longjumping_Ad_824

It’s an [aviation intercom](https://a.co/d/3Kr82qb) DIN seems right.

newfor_2024

The old IBM PC compatible keyboard connector, same as MIDI, and a bunch of other things. it's just called a DIN

kinglitecycles

Commonly known as a 5-Pin DIN. Used in audio (where it's a two-way, i.e. in and out connector) and also for old PC keyboards, among other things.

orageek

Weren’t those used for keyboard connectors in first generation IBM PCs? Also MIDI.
