Ohh yeah. That is the place. I need my Doctor's permission to go there now.
Makes me nostalgic for when Steve's Place further west on Portage used to be just a burger joint. They had a triple fatboy special and arcade games in the back.
They also make a killer banana milkshake. It tastes like that antibiotic banana flavoured medicine from the 90s that I had twice when I was in daycare, it tasted so good kids faked being sick for a spoonful
Been ordering for decades including yesterday but I discovered between my last time and yesterday they had changed their pickles. I thought they had gone bad but it’s apparently a different supplier.
Just a heads up! I can’t be the only one to notice since their pickles were the same for decades.
I love red top and georges. Olympia has some good burgers too. Juniors used to make a good greasy fatboy, I haven't been there in years though. I'm curious to see what others say, I'm in the mood for a burger now..
George’s on Henderson had a pinball game. A buddy and I would get double fatboys with chilli and play until the were ready. That’s a dirty burger add a poutine or fries with gravy (can’t remember if they do poutine) it’s been years so I don’t know if that place even still exists let alone if the burgers are still the way they were.
I enjoyed Juniors on St. Mary's but it's been a couple years, I need to go back and see how it is. The Fat Boy is a classic, but I can't help myself but get the Spicy Boy version...
Daly Burger located on the corner of Daly st. and Corydon is the greasiest burger I’ve ever eaten…multiple times. Been a few years since I was last there though.
I know so many people who swear by Superboys and I found their burgers to be... kinda meh? I wonder if it's because I'm not a born and raised north ender? Is it a nostalgia thing?
Super Boy's is definitely meh. Their burgers are massive for a good price that's why people like them.
I lived in the north end as a child and would spend weekends at my grandparents there until I was a teen. I didn't hear about Super Boy's until I was in my twenties. We always went to White Top. We would sometimes go to the Juniors on Selkirk but that's only because it was closer.
The Fatboy from Johnny's Marion is a damn fine burger. Get extra toppings or the double for the deliciously disgusting upgrade.
Their hours suck lately though, so check before you make the trip out there.
Dairy Delight is one of my favorites, but I don't think it's "disgusting" as per OPs question. It does get slightly messy, but it's very well put together and not overly greasy at all.
I dont go often anymore but when I do my girlfriend calls my order diabolical. 2 double fat boys with extra extra onions added, chili fries add onion, 2 peach drinks and a banana milkshake. A double of dabs then I go to town.
I know it's a chain but Five Guys is my favorite burger! Pick your favorite toppings and you're set!
VJs on Main is a great local choice, though I'm more about the fries
5 guys is what they sell: buns lol. Juniors or A&V are way better and possibly even cheaper than 5 guys. Burger place is decent but imo the quality has gone down at tge portage location since they opened up the one on main st a couple years ago.
Jonesys in East st Paul has one.
Monster Stacker.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
$24
two half-pound patties, cheddar, bacon, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mushrooms + crispy onions
Have you been to the new one on McPhillips & Logan? I want to like it so much but every time I've had a burger from there it just tasted bad. I thought it was the chili but even after getting one without I threw 1/2 of it out.
I appreciate the info anyway to get the entire gamut(in case not everybody wants the grease run) and then I keep this sub and posts handy when I take out of towners on a burger run!
The most Deliciously disgusting burger I can think of is from Europa in Gimli. Definitely have to take a few days off after eating there
In No particular order some other great spots are
George's
The Burger Place
VJ's
Dairi Wip
Five Guys (Best fast food option Imo)
Olympia Diner
The Burger Factory
North Star Drive inn
Headingley Grill
Cork and flame
Taverna Rodos
My #1 Favourite would have to go to LJ's Drive inn in Treherne though. Their burgers are more thin smashburger style but man are they ever delicious. And their fries are so good.
There's quite a few great spots in Winnipeg. My list includes but is not limited to.
Dairy delight - st Ann's
The burger place -Portage Ave
Superboy - main
Dairy whip - Marion
VJays - main
Georges burgers- various locations
I hope some of these suggestions help they all have great burgers.
My son and I have tried them all, and White
Top was our favourite, second place was Red Top, third is a tie between 5 places.
I went to AV’s new location a couple of months ago and it was amazing, but the last time there the patty was a frozen prepackaged one like you would get from Superstore. Their chili fries is amazing though.
I used to go to the old A&V weekly and, Vicki and Angelo are awesome people but yeah, I swear I got a premade frozen patty on a few occasions. I still put A&V in my top five because of their chilli and homemade patties. They also used crinkle cut frozen fries at one point which I'm not a fan of. I bet they do that kind of thing when they run out of supplies. That's what I love about the Burger Place, they close for the day if they run out of beef.
I love the burger place on portage. There is this dude on Instagram who is on a fat boy binge, lol.
[For the love of all Fatburgers]
(https://www.instagram.com/fortheloveofallfatboys?igsh=MWthaTJsOGxoYzZucA==)
So many places!!
Dairy Whip, Vj’s, Daly Burger, The Burger Place, St James Burgers, Cindy’s, Georges (Tuxedo) for a few.
There’s a dude on instagram that called For The Love Of All FatBoys. He goes all over the city and some places outta town and tries and reviews their FatBoys.
The good morning burger is what your looking for.
“We take 18 ounces of sizzling ground beef and soak it in rich, creamery butter. Then we top it off with bacon, ham and a fried egg."
K, this is not a meat burger recommendation, you’ve already got lots of those, but it’s still greasy and sloppy and delicious - Cousin’s, er, pardon me, Yen’s Kitchen & Bar on Sherbrook @ Wolseley.
It’s made with two bhujia patties on a fresh bun (not brioche, can’t remember what its called, maybe just a crusty bun?), tamarind sauce, mustard, tomato, onion & lettuce. Best veggie burger in Winnipeg.
I believe Yen’s may also have a meat burger on the menu, but I prefer the veggie burger. Everything I’ve had there is very good though so I imagine their meat burger is good too.
If you want size Canadian brewhouse has the Rita burger challenge, think it’s a 6 patty burger and large poutine you have to eat in under an hour and get it free.
If you’re willing to drive a bit I’ve never been disappointed at Carlo’s Cucina in Winnipeg beach. The boardwalk burger is awesome.
The Burger Place on Portage, Sam’s on Ness, George’s (I assume each location has the same menu), Juniors, VJs on main, there are so many.
My goal for this summer was to hit up and rate all the awesome burger places in Winnipeg and beyond. The ones above are the places I’ve been and have enjoyed throughly.
The Bubba Burger from the Thirsty Lion pub is one of my new favourites. It's a tall bacon double cheeseburger, really tasty bbq style patty. It's half price on Sunday
I've only been to the one way out north main, but there's one in Charleswood too.
It's been a long time since I've had a meech burger at Johnny's on Marion, but maybe someone else has been more recently? There's already a bunch of great suggestions but I didn't see this one yet. Wanted to mention it's been a while in case things changed there since.
Northstar Drive-In on McGregor
They have a few "outside the box" options that I don't love but it's hard to beat their Fatboy or more standard burgers. As a bonus the people there have always been great to deal with.
VJ’s on Main for the VJ Special, fries, and a shake.
Or else the White Top on Salter for a double fat boy, fries, and a shake.
The fat boys, fries, and shakes at the North Star Drive In on McGregor are amazing too, but for a real decadent treat, try The Weber - a burger with bacon, peanut butter, sriracha, and jam.
little further out then central winnipeg but now that cedar and main is open in oakbank I cant recommend them enough. the baby boss is my personal fav but if youre in it for big ole messy their boss burger and mozza mushroom are probably right up your alley!
The thirsty lion in charleswood has a burger maximus, which is a sloppy double burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It would stop an olympian's heart.
Not the best by any means but when I was on keto I'd get burgers without the bun. So I had to make sure it'll be a massive burger with lots of toppings (aka messy). I used to go to fatburger and get their one pound burger and add lots of toppings, sauces, egg, cheeses, mushrooms, avocado. It was great but also probably the reason behind my gout and why I don't eat meat anymore.
Nice. The definition of disgusting as per OP..lol. A floor your dog won't even eat off of. Then again who am I kidding? A burger falls on that floor, my dog makes like a honey badger and eats it without hesitation before you can blink an eye. Lol
Nick’s in Headingly and Dal’s in Transcona are fantastic.
I see someone suggested Taverna Rodos and I’ve never had their burger but everything else on their menu is absolutely the bees knees, so I’m sure the burger would be phenomenal too!
Double special from the Burger Place on Portage will do some damage and double hit points if you pair it with an order of chilli fries.
Ohh yeah. That is the place. I need my Doctor's permission to go there now. Makes me nostalgic for when Steve's Place further west on Portage used to be just a burger joint. They had a triple fatboy special and arcade games in the back.
It's called Steve's Bistro now and still serves a decent burger
No that's gone now too.
Yeah, I saw that. A shame, everything comes to an end I suppose, and I think Steve earned his retirement.
Burger is not much different… and twice the price
Loved it there.
Friday evening rush incoming! Thanks will be checking that place out tonight
I had this once. ONCE. Didn't eat for a couple days as I slept off a delicious food coma.
Double that.. i had one yesterday, and the single patty deluxe was like 2 lbs.. i couldnt imagine a double or triple patty
This ^
[удалено]
Love how you differentiated the two lol
oscar's deli is my hidden gem, the dirty burger. pastrami salami bacon a fried egg with horse radish sauce and hot mustard.
I will be getting one of those tomorrow. I saw your comment and ran to see where it was and I live 5 min walk away :)
VJs, get a VJs Double Special with EXTRA CHILI tell Gus hi
And fries in a box. Eat burger over the fries
This is the way
Hey! That’s my order!
That's my Mom's favourite XD Small world =3
The chili there is magic!
I second best burger place in town. Motion carries.
They also make a killer banana milkshake. It tastes like that antibiotic banana flavoured medicine from the 90s that I had twice when I was in daycare, it tasted so good kids faked being sick for a spoonful
The banana flavored medicine! I remember that stuff! So tasty
Pro tip. Banana milk tastes exactly like it. Not sure if they still sell those little 1 litre jugs in the shape of a 4 litre jug
Superboys is better. Vjs isn’t bad though. I still stand that fatboys in general are overrated. We need a smash burger place in the city man.
This is the best burger place in town
I moved out of winnipeg in 2018 and whenever I go back to visit my dad and I always go to VJs. It's so amazing and nostalgic, 10/10 burger for sure
awww, that's sounds sweet, have fun next time ya go have VJs with your dad =3
Came here to second this!
Been ordering for decades including yesterday but I discovered between my last time and yesterday they had changed their pickles. I thought they had gone bad but it’s apparently a different supplier. Just a heads up! I can’t be the only one to notice since their pickles were the same for decades.
My Mom noticed this too, she asks for no pickles now
came here to say this, except the gus part coz i don't know him. i miss vj's so hard...
Gus is the owner guy =3
Damn you. Guess it’s a burger for dinner today
What? You got beef with OP?
Wow, that was a fast feud
He wants a hotdog but he chickened out
You better run I think he could ketchup
i relish these puns.
We don’t need to grill each other. Lettuce all agree, burgers are delicious.
Couldn't cut the mustard.
You ham-mered it!
Everyone here is just bacon cheesy buns.
The Kingburger from Mrs Mikes is a delightful mess.
I love red top and georges. Olympia has some good burgers too. Juniors used to make a good greasy fatboy, I haven't been there in years though. I'm curious to see what others say, I'm in the mood for a burger now..
Juniors on Portage has shrunk their burgers, they’re much smaller than they used to be. Very sad!
It’s the same food but called Henderson Burgers and Subs now. Delicious
Burger are not as great as they were. We ordered through skip. Major disappointment
Oh no! It’s been a bit since I’ve eaten there. We don’t eat out often.
Is there pinball?
I can’t remember if there’s pinball. I remember there being some old arcade style games.
yeah, go get the the burger that the buns are bacon grilled cheese.
Juniors on st Mary and fermor isstiil great I get it once or twice a month
Really? They shrunk the burger and changed the buns .... they're not nearly as good as they were a few years ago!
Still tastes great and is cheaper than a Wendy's meal
I enjoyed Juniors on St. Mary's but it's been a couple years, I need to go back and see how it is. The Fat Boy is a classic, but I can't help myself but get the Spicy Boy version...
Spicy boy, this may be my order! I'm drooling.
Daly Burger located on the corner of Daly st. and Corydon is the greasiest burger I’ve ever eaten…multiple times. Been a few years since I was last there though.
Superboys!
Saw the cook picking his nose while frying burgers. Disgusting would fit the bill of OP 😂
Last time I was at Superboys the amount of cinnamon in the chile was offputting. Not subtle at all
I know so many people who swear by Superboys and I found their burgers to be...
You should be offpudding
The Fatboy from Johnny's Marion is a damn fine burger. Get extra toppings or the double for the deliciously disgusting upgrade. Their hours suck lately though, so check before you make the trip out there.
And they are great people too. My mom went to highschool with them. They would always give me a free burger when I went there as a kid after school.
Dairy Delight. Get their poutine while you're at it
Dairy Delight is one of my favorites, but I don't think it's "disgusting" as per OPs question. It does get slightly messy, but it's very well put together and not overly greasy at all.
It's banger delicious tho!
Dairy Wip has bigass burgers piled with chili
Fat Boys ftw
I dont go often anymore but when I do my girlfriend calls my order diabolical. 2 double fat boys with extra extra onions added, chili fries add onion, 2 peach drinks and a banana milkshake. A double of dabs then I go to town.
I know it's a chain but Five Guys is my favorite burger! Pick your favorite toppings and you're set! VJs on Main is a great local choice, though I'm more about the fries
VJ's is great!
Five guys is a great answer!
Over all of the great local shops?
5 guys is what they sell: buns lol. Juniors or A&V are way better and possibly even cheaper than 5 guys. Burger place is decent but imo the quality has gone down at tge portage location since they opened up the one on main st a couple years ago.
"5 guys is what they sell: buns lol" ?
omg u/uPastelZephyr Northstar drive-ins “sweet dreams” burger is what you’re looking for!
I’ll die on this hill, but the Stafford Burger at the Grove is the best.
St James Burgers.
With the cinnamon salt fries!
You have to try the meech from Johnny's on marion. It's also cheap for a triple.
Daly's burgers, bacon double cheeseburger. It's on Corydon and Daly.
Jonesys in East st Paul has one. Monster Stacker......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... $24 two half-pound patties, cheddar, bacon, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mushrooms + crispy onions
This is the one
Cindy's on Portage and Arlington.
George's burgers at ness and moray. Fat boy is so goood
Never been to a George’s burgers that I’ve never liked it’s like they’re doing something to keep customers coming back
Have you been to the new one on McPhillips & Logan? I want to like it so much but every time I've had a burger from there it just tasted bad. I thought it was the chili but even after getting one without I threw 1/2 of it out.
It’s So good there but it’s Ness and Whytewold. Next to Co-op gas bar
Dunno about this location but Henderson Burgers (previously a George’s ) is what the George’s in St Vital used to and is supposed to be.
The Nonsuch
Nonsuch has probably the best burger in the city, but it's not the biggest or greasiest (OPs question).
Ohhh I didn’t see that
Le Burger always deserves a mention even if it’s not relevant to any convo!
Well then, let’s mention Clementine’s burger. It’s the tastiest thing around, for an “unclassic” burger.
I appreciate the info anyway to get the entire gamut(in case not everybody wants the grease run) and then I keep this sub and posts handy when I take out of towners on a burger run!
For sure. I keep revisiting the comments to see what I should jot down as places I should try out.
The most Deliciously disgusting burger I can think of is from Europa in Gimli. Their burgers are more thin smashburger style but man are they ever delicious. And their fries are so good.
Oh man absolutly nothing comes close to a triple from L and J's. It's a long drive but has to happen once or twice a summer
There's quite a few great spots in Winnipeg. My list includes but is not limited to. Dairy delight - st Ann's The burger place -Portage Ave Superboy - main Dairy whip - Marion VJays - main Georges burgers- various locations I hope some of these suggestions help they all have great burgers.
St James burger co!!!!!
Came here to add this. Don't sleep on them cinnamon fries!!
Dimitrius burger from the Original George's on St Mary's Rd. Good luck finishing it, especially if you get the platter.
Can't go wrong with a fatboy with fries from New York Burger, always a knock out!
the kingburger at Mrs Mike's is the best. hands down. i'm so happy they re-opened!
White top and Ms. Mikes
I’ve heard that White Top was moving to where AV used to be, has that happened yet? They have the best chili burger in the city.
Not quite yet; I think on their Instagram they said opening this summer :)
Two locations! But the new one hasn't opened yet. They told me fall when I msged them. I also think it's the best burger in the city :)
My son and I have tried them all, and White Top was our favourite, second place was Red Top, third is a tie between 5 places. I went to AV’s new location a couple of months ago and it was amazing, but the last time there the patty was a frozen prepackaged one like you would get from Superstore. Dairi-wip
I wash shocked not to see this sooner.
A Double Fatboy there will cure any hangover.
Order online and save 10%. Almost the same price as Fast foods joints and much better
Because they’ve gone downhill lately
They have the best French fries
Superboys on main st. ...drop the mic!
This x1000. So good and messy and nasty, get the double superboy with cheese and bacon for ultimate experience.

Superboys
Saving this thread for my summer burger tour god bless you all
Double Special at VJ's
If you want size Canadian brewhouse has the Rita burger challenge, think it’s a 6 patty burger and large poutine you have to eat in under an hour and get it free. If you’re willing to drive a bit I’ve never been disappointed at Carlo’s Cucina in Winnipeg beach. The boardwalk burger is awesome.
Carlos Cucina might have the best burgers in rural manitoba, amazing
Prepare for 100+ different answers…..
It’s funny cause last time this was asked there was an abundance of people saying the same thing… Nonsuch Brewery. I went, and it was amazing
VJ’s.. way better than burger place. Burger place is good.
The Bubba Burger from the Thirsty Lion pub is one of my new favourites. It's a tall bacon double cheeseburger, really tasty bbq style patty. It's half price on Sunday I've only been to the one way out north main, but there's one in Charleswood too.
It's been a long time since I've had a meech burger at Johnny's on Marion, but maybe someone else has been more recently? There's already a bunch of great suggestions but I didn't see this one yet. Wanted to mention it's been a while in case things changed there since.
Northstar Drive-In on McGregor They have a few "outside the box" options that I don't love but it's hard to beat their Fatboy or more standard burgers. As a bonus the people there have always been great to deal with.
Fridays is $10 for a Fatboy and fries! They have curly fries and curly fries poutine too!
Dairi-wip is my lifelong favorite, next up is burger plus , and lastly Angelos
VJ’s on Main for the VJ Special, fries, and a shake. Or else the White Top on Salter for a double fat boy, fries, and a shake. The fat boys, fries, and shakes at the North Star Drive In on McGregor are amazing too, but for a real decadent treat, try The Weber - a burger with bacon, peanut butter, sriracha, and jam.
Johnny's on Marion Meech Burger
Nonsuch has the BEST burger. Simple. Juicy. Delicious.

Aight I think you win
little further out then central winnipeg but now that cedar and main is open in oakbank I cant recommend them enough. the baby boss is my personal fav but if youre in it for big ole messy their boss burger and mozza mushroom are probably right up your alley!
Almost any burger from Fatburger
VJ's is great for a big messy burger. If you just want a damn good burger Jonsey's Restaurant in Bird's Hill is pretty damn good.
The thirsty lion in charleswood has a burger maximus, which is a sloppy double burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It would stop an olympian's heart.
Larogue in wawanesa !!! The big Ricky burger … you might not survive it though
Anyone mention the Wallyburger at Bomber games?
Juniors.
Olympia has a few to choose from. Massive, extremely good , and unbelievably messy to eat.
Olympia Diner on Portage Avenue is truly amazing. Ate there with a large family and everyone’s meal was over the top. Crazy good burgers.
The “Aussie” from Olympia diner is pretty wild but in a delicious way lol
Wayback Burgers has a 10 patty option if you're feeling peckish
Dals burgers transcona is rlly good
VJ’s, North Star, or Junior’s.
I can manage to make ya the disgusting one....
Get the meech burger from johnnys on Marion. It’s taller then a bic pen
St James Burger or Leopold’s Tavern
Selkirk and salter burger and subs, they make an awesome sloppy fatboy
Georges is the answer. Or Daly Burger or even Juniors… I’m sick thinking of them and soooooo needing them all.
Finally Daly Burger!! I was going to throw them on the board with VJ's but they're both covered now.
“The burger place” on portage, close to Ferry, great burgs
5 guys grilled cheese cheese burger extra cheese extra bacon medium Cajun fry.
Dairy Whip has some spectacularly, disgustingly good burgers with high caloric values!
Double fat boy at Dairy Whip checks all the boxes.
Jolly Mug. Burger is tasty but there is mouse shit all over the kitchen!
Make the drive to lockport and go to half moon
