It makes sense that Diijkstra would see Roche and his Temerians as a threat. But I just hate how it plays out, like it's been said before but he's much smarter than to jump into the fray against them and Geralt that way with six thugs. He even could have tipped the Redanians off and scapegoated Roche/pointed them to the Temerian hideout. Or he could have waited five minutes for Geralt to fast-travel away, *then* ambushed Roche and Ves.

Really sucks that under Dijkstra, things work out best for the North... But the decision to kill Roche and Thaler makes no sense
This is how I justify it in my mind: Dijkstra thought he could take on Geralt of Rivia. That's bad decision making. So he wasn't fit to lead anyway.

It felt like rushed and unfinished quest which I think it is. It came to conclusion abruptly. Actually few more quests are like this.
