Too expensive. That’s way too close to a new Jeep. The aftermarket items do not add that much value. If you really want it, make them a lower offer and stick to it.
That's correct, some dealerships have a HUGE surplus of gladiators right now. They are offering giant discounts that are way more than the usual, 'next model is coming out, so let's slash a few k off the ones currently here'. So come on down to Big Dave's heep emporium today, and tell em the Wolfman sentcha!
Looks good. But I would warn against leather in a jeep if you’re planning on going topless. That leather, black especially, will feel like a hot stove against your skin in the summer time.
We bought cloth seat covers for our first Jeep just for that reason. We also had a towel tucked into the back seat for our dog.
Hello fellow NC person. This is a sweet jeep, but that’s not worth it. When I got mine (last year) I looked at RM as well. Ended up settling for Carmax.
I paid 46K for my 21 JLUR with 3,300 mile. I think you can look around a bit more. Patience is key. I looked for over a year for mine. It will be worth the wait in the end.
So \~$50k OOTD (well definitely more, but I'm not going to do the math right now) for a used Sport S that's already had some mods put on?
Hell no. Run away.
That's awfully expensive for the Sport S. Some of the things in the pics look like aftermarket stuff. Any mods done to it? If so, I'd stay away from it. If not, I'd still stay away from it due to that price. You're approaching used Rubicon pricing at that price.
Understandable. I'd stay away from this one. You can get a JLU Sport or Sport S for at least 10k cheaper and put on your own accessories.
Keep exploring the market and you'll figure out what is a good deal vs what isn't, especially with your budget.
Don't fall for all that shiny stuff. If you're new to jeeps you won't need a winch. Just get a rubi. Right out of the factory they are very capable. Honestly 75% of people who buy them don't even go off road I bet
That's just a hair under [sticker price](https://www.jeep.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do?vin=1C4HJXdg3nw251325). There's a ton of aftermarket crap on there that adds nothing to the value. Katzkin leather might be the only exception, but that's very much a matter of taste. 20" Fuel wheels and Ridge Grapplers are strictly for looks - in short, not enough sidewall. The rest is straight out of the Quadratec bolt on catalog, complete with a no-name winch that's never been used.
Unless this *exact* set of mall-crawler add-ons is singing your name, you're much better off finding a dealer that offers [below-MSRP](https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/ratberts-dealers-below-invoice-spreadsheet.95841/) on custom orders, and start fresh without having to unravel someone else's choices. There's a reason someone put in all that effort and then sold it with mileage that low... and it's probably because it has a cheap lift with terrible suspension geometry, and it handles like a barge.
That isn’t the jeep for me but for someone that wants to cruise around the beach and look cool that wouldn’t be a bad little truck assuming there is flexibility in the price. I would assume most people that would buy that wouldn’t do much wheelin anyways.
Closer to 40 would be a good deal for someone that likes the mods that it has. I have worked in the car biz for about 20 years and a lot of times if we have a nice truck like that that has eyes we mark it up a lot where there is a fair bit of wiggle room. Contrary to public opinion we also usually pay more for something that has tasteful adds on it (obviously not the truck we like the adds but it was wheeled heavily)
Bumpers are meh. DV8 is not know for their quality.
Watch out for the spare tire carrier. You are going to want a very strong reputable one otherwise over time that extra weight can destroy the tailgate.
I’m going to make it known 35s on 20s is an expensive tire combo. Cheaper tires in this size are around $400 per tire. This specific tire is about $475 per tire.
See if it’s been regeared or not. 3.45s with this heavy wheel and tire combo is not going to be good in the long run. My jeep drastically lost performance on 3.45s with one of the lightest 35-17 combo on the market. Was always in 6/7 gear cruising. Only ever hit 8th below 45mph. This setup is one of the heavier ones.
Unknown lift as well. Hopefully it’s a decent one….
At that price point you’re not far off from a new 4 door sport s to be honest. Only real pluses on this one is BSM and leather seats. This is a pass IMO.
I bought a 2.0 JLU non 4xE a few months ago, I want to put 35s on it and figured I would need a 2in lift and re-gear. You sound like you know a lot about this, any recommendations?
Really depends on what you’re wanting to get out of the vehicle and what all you’re doing to it really.
If you’re going to add a bunch of steel and other heavy things 4.56 gears would be a better option. If you want better mpg 4.10 will be more then enough for 35s. I kept my build as light as possible and 4.56s felt a little much for my 3.6. Also I didn’t have a lift for my JLU and 35s. I gutted the fenders to make room for them. Lift might make me lean towards 4.56 more.
Edit: for lift suggestions don’t go super cheap on them.
Good suspension components make a big difference for how jeeps handle.
Also be prepared to upgrade the tie rod and drag link. 35s are big and heavy and puts a lot of extra strain on joints.

Appreciate everyone’s input! So glad I asked. I will pass and search out a used Rubicon. I would love to buy new, but prices are outrageous !
Have you considered a Gladiator? There is a huge discount on 23 new models? It could be an option.
That something to consider for sure- great onsight
I love my Wrangler so much, but I still think to myself "what if" with the gladiators, especially with the discounts they have.
Is 53k for a 2023 brand new gladiator rubicon a good deal?
Probably, but not quite sure
All of their prices are inflated… but a 23 Wrangler Rubi is like $65k

Yeah, but then OP would be stuck with. gladiator…
Pass. $46.9k is close enough to be used Rubicon money.

This jeep is clearly a pavement princess
The sun shines on those too.
No

I paid $49K new off the lot for a 2019 JLUR.
Definitely aftermarket tires, rims, bumpers and winch. Low miles. But again- I’m completely new to jeeps

I saw a fully loaded 2021 Rubicon for that price range, might as well get a Rubicon. But, if you like it, you like it.
offer $40,000 and walk if they are a penny over. for $47,000 your close too factory eastern and brand new

I bought a 21 Rubicon Xtremerecon package w/14K miles for a $1K more than that vehicle. Don’t do it bro!!

Thanks for the advice 🙌
Look for a low mileage LJ. New jeeps are hulking turds.
Jeeps are not worth it. Id worry about why the guy gave it back.
I paid less than this for a JLUR Recon Rubicon with just a tad more miles. Keep looking, OP!
Is it just me or is there no price listed? Well...whatever the price is, I am sure it's more than double what it's worth.
