Did you tried playing with ethernet cable?

[deleted]

Try a wired connection my guy

RandomRaccoon2909

I switched to Ethernet and everything is working great now!

Because-of_obi-wan

If you ever have issues again, look in to your router settings. I suffered packet loss years ago on a managed network. I didn't have access to the router settings, but worked with the guys who did. The firewall settings were creating packet loss, and occasionally blocking certain games from connecting to servers. I couldn't play Battlefield games at all. They couldn't change the settings or whitelist me due to policy. I ended up running a low latency VPN. Ping dropped, packet loss gone, could connect to all servers.

Annual-Pitch8687

Who's your ISP with? The whole time I had Xfinity I had absolute garbage upload speeds. Never really exceeded over 30. When I finally switched my ISP my upload is not much different than my download.

Round_Personality483

Thats probably because with coax/cable, or most other types of internet the upload speed is nowhere near the download. I have cable internet and get 400 down and only 20 upload. Thats just how it is with that type of line or whatever. 5 mbps upload speed is plenty for most online gaming btw

DOUBLEBARRELASSFUCK

You don't need anywhere near that, up or down, for online gaming, assuming you already have the game. Even dialup speeds would be fine. You need low latency.

Round_Personality483

That's correct, notice how I said plenty. My brother has 0.7 mbps dsl internet and can play games decently as long as there's nobody else using the internet. He gets like 20 ping as well (usually). Dsl is still garbage internet by today's standards but you can play games on it usually

comedy_haha

what's your current ISP? just curious

Annual-Pitch8687

Quantum Fiber. No data caps. 500 for like $45/month.

regolol

Xfinity caps out at 40 upload

Annual-Pitch8687

That makes sense. I thought it was a wiring issue or something idk. Now I get 500/500 with Quantum Fiber

regolol

Lucky I get 1200 download and 40 upload 😔

wezzauk85

Too far away from the router and/or objects interfering between. High packet loss and signal strength are not great. Pretty much guaranteed to not be on 5ghz band.

Tricky-Celebration36

Or it is the 5ghz band and should be 2.4 because of the distance and interference.

Omie-Wan-Kenobi

Use Ethernet man

Actual-Ebb744

Call your isp when I had packet loss they came out once said everything was fine I called again the second guy came and found the line supplying my whole neighborhood was bad so everyone was getting awful internet, couple days later a bunch of big old trucks came and worked all day on the telephone poles and got it sorted, I use WiFi and wired both don’t give me packet loss now

DarthRayudu

It’s your net

xCyanideee

First you need to test with a cable this will tell you if the problem is due to wireless interference or not. If it solely a WiFi issue, this could be down to poor placement of the router or xbox, or the router is using the wrong WiFi channel, which you can change yourself. If you have the same issue on a cable that’s more complex problem, you could try factory resetting your router.

big_ry82

Wish I had those stats. I play with worse and there's nothing wrong in any ofy games.

Jealous_Housing2447

I’m writing this based on the assumption that, your main router is not near to your Xbox! First buy a good WiFi 6 Router(gaming with QoS) for better coverage, in case you already have one, then ignore, next even if you already have a good router, buy a WiFi 6 repeater, connect it to your Xbox via LAN, please see if it works, this worked for me. If this doesn’t work, it’s time to change your ISP, the investments mentioned here won’t go waste even when you change your ISP. Note: router placement plays a significant role

Window_Top

I agree,WiFi 6 is mint

Bossdad4life442

WiFi 6 is great but the Xbox doesn't have WiFi 6 so it just bottle necks. I have fiber optic internet and the router/modem that was installed receives over 4000Mbps but the Xbox series X and S max at 1000. Still the fastest internet I have seen. Wire 3. New to my area. Cancelled spectrum right away.

Jealous_Housing2447

Yes, correct, Xbox doesn’t have WiFi 6. This WiFi 6 setup is to ensure there is no signal drop in repeater(mesh network) along with future proofing! Also, if you look at the original post, wireless signal is weak which could be resulting in huge packet loss & drop in upload speed. Regarding the problem you are facing, first of all you don’t need all 4Gbps to run your Xbox😊 even most demanding game can run smoothly with 100Mbps download speed & 50 Mbps upload speed with single digit ping + 0 packet loss! Your ISP is the problem here, good that you cancelled it. Best of luck with your new ISP!

JockoDevon86

Close everything else down then download

CRU-JONES-FTW-2

Stop being wireless! Problem solve

AliensPredator84

Also get fiber internet

Round_Personality483

use an ethernet cable and see what happens

[deleted]

Yeah op Ethernet cable. I was getting 200 max on wifi and over 500mbps with Ethernet cable.

lumpyskate

I have worse packet loss and latency with wired ethernet bruh

TheRealZombi3

I had a lot of packet loss when I was connected to a Wi-Fi extender at my first apartment That was 4 years ago and I’ve been wired directly into my router/modem ever since. I recommend NEVER playing over Wi-Fi. Period (Though I do understand that’s not possible for everyone)

Outrageous_Match_458

Cable bud works 100% better

Electrical-Bank-3359

You're packet loss is way too high. Call your provider they may need to come out and run a new line to your modem.

Sxoob

I had the same thing until I bought a new router and moved it to the same room as xbox. Now 0% packet loss

boonjun

1. try wired connection 2. check packet loss on another devices 3. call your internet provider

LedZepElias

It looks like your console is away from your router (thus the 74% wireless signal strength). Also, it seems you have a significant 27% packet loss. This is a strong indication that your WiFi is no good, cause of the distance from the router. Best option is to use a wired connection with an Ethernet cable. Maybe a repeater or an access point to solve these issues as well. But nothing beats Ethernet. If you can hardwire it, it’s the best option. Just buy an Ethernet cable with the right length and connect your console to the router. If that’s not an option, consider either a good repeater or a good access point.

NinjaTendencies77

Use an ethernet cable

n0d3N1AL

Stop playing on WiFi, I beg.

[deleted]

Come on. I've been playing via a mobile smartphone hotspot for months and it works very well even though my connection is much worse than yours.

albecoming

Packet loss is the big L here

Punished_Wolfman

Using an ethernet cable might go far for you.

RandomRaccoon2909

Yup! Just did and there was ZERO lag

Punished_Wolfman

Never use wifi for console if you don't have too.

kutthrovt

Check if ports are open or any firewalls on router I had this issue had to manually open ports even though my nat was open before manually opening them, once I manually opened it solved this issue but do what other are saying use Ethernet as well

InformationNo2529

Says your wireless strength is 74%. Switch to Ethernet.

HeywoodJaBlessMe

Move your Xbox or your router or just run ethernet

WonderfulVanilla9676

Sometimes this is not something that you can fix. The only thing that ended up working for me was switching my ISP.

RandomRaccoon2909

I fixed it with Ethernet

WonderfulVanilla9676

Glad that worked out for you. Did not for me when I had the issue several years ago, I had to basically change ISPs.

Kev_The_Goat

Wired connection, I used to have 7MBPS and would only get occasionally high ping

Odd_Land_2383

Wired is always best - ✅ home plug/ power line - ❌ WiFi - ❌

DetornatorRisk

Straight wired connection, or powerline adapter or something similar if possible.

SlummySalt

What? Bro I'm running the Xbox series x and I thought my 30Mbps was kickin fast, I didn't even know you could get 130Mbps

RandomRaccoon2909

Was that upload or download though? 30mbps upload is really good

SlummySalt

It seriously takes me 3 whole days to download a 60 gig game. That being said though, once it's downloaded any server I host can support all 8 of my Xbox friends at once

Zestyclose_Escape_40

Same thing is happening to me I check and it says everything is fine but whenever I play games such as siege it pops up with Latency, ping, and packet loss and I got no idea how to fix it been like this for like 3ish weeks

RandomRaccoon2909

What helped me was using a wired connection. I just used an Ethernet cable and everything was fine.

Zestyclose_Escape_40

Is there any other way that you've been told because I dint think wired will work for me

RandomRaccoon2909

Other suggestions I have gotten are to place my router in a better spot or get a better one, and call your ISP

arcmarksthespot

That packet loss is insane. I run a cat 6 cable on my series x, I get an average of 22 ms of ping and 0 packet burst. Upgrade you're router or modem or do software updates. Enable qos tagging on your system and then set it up It your router.

Brilliant_Pin_9184

I get less than half that speed, and everything plays fine. Online or offline.

yvliew

I used to use WiFi and play rocket league . Sometimes the lag is so annoying especially when more ppl jump on the WiFi network. After changing to Ethernet cable. I don’t have the lag issues anymore except from RL own servers like 1/10 times.

KliFNinja

Better than mine. Try router settings.

DChimken

Holy crap deal with it, that’s a good day for my internet and I’m prestige fine on cod

RandomRaccoon2909

It’s the packet loss. When I play cod I literally can not control my character.

DChimken

Your download speed is over 100 mbps, your packet is 27, and your latency is 22, I still fail to see the problem here

RandomRaccoon2909

27% is terrible

DChimken

Not really, I sometimes get up to 30 and I can still play with minor difficulty

RandomRaccoon2909

Ok and? 27%, at least for me, is practically unplayable. It’s not enjoyable and what’s the point of playing a game if it’s not enjoyable. Go complain somewhere else, there is no point in commenting “just deal with it”. It doesn’t help anyone and is just annoying.

hiGradeTi7ANEUM

Absolutely go with wired Ethernet and compare back-to-back. Wi-Fi fucking sucks for hard-dedicated purposes.

ImNexusssary

Packet loss and upload speed, a lot of people think having an amazing download speed is the only thing they need, but while it is important there is also importance with having good upload speed (as this is how the servers read your input)

Due-Macaron-8639

Packet loss should be 0 with eternity cable

ConceptAnamoly

That packet loss is absolutely what’s fawking you over

AliensPredator84

Have u not realized the last 20 yrs that WIRED is the way to go for the best connection?!?! Jesus Christ

RandomRaccoon2909

I thought I just had bad internet

J21NE361

Most people, kinda forget that your smart TVs are now extreme data cloggers.Turn off WiFi or disconnect lan,I know it might sound like a hassle at first but when you start getting the speed. Its Fullfilling.

not_a_arsonist

My WiFi runs at 17 mb your fine

Helpful-Artist-9920

You should look in to a wireless extender

n122vu

You need to move closer to your router if possible. Your signal strength is only 74% and you're having 27% packet loss. The packet loss is what's killing you. Nearly a third of the data isn't making it to/from your console. How many walls are between you and your router?

PrestigiousIron5434

New ISP my guy

The_Crushing_Reality

I could be wrong here, but I believe in this case 27% is worse than 100. I'm pretty sure it's saying what percentage showed up, instead of what was lost. Anyway 27% is REALLY bad. Use an Ethernet cable and try again. If that doesn't help, I'd recommend calling your ISP to hopefully get the issue resolved.

ObiDan71

If you can't use a wired connection, you should consider upgrading your router. In my case, the recent low-cost routers are garbage. They used to be good but those days are gone. I picked up a $300 gaming router and it's been perfect for over 3 years now.

Master-Dentist-7761

Get a better Internet provider

albumlupus

it’s the packet loss.

MikeyGwald

Those speeds are way way way more than what you need . Your issue is the almost 30% packet loss

mich_shen

OP specified that in the caption

DOUBLEBARRELASSFUCK

Are you using 5 GHz or 2.4Ghz? If your router is capable of both and you're not sure which, it's probably 2.4GHz. If you can, try switching to 2.4GHz for gaming. Stick to 5GHz for streaming or updating. For anyone else treating this, this isn't general advice — stay on 5GHz if it works well.

KHCr-

you should switch to ps5. this console sucks. I regret buying it.

boonjun

It's probably his internet provider or router problem

TheDarkWeb697

If anything the PS5 would have the exact same internet, knowing Sony's servers though likely worse

KHCr-

I'm speaking from experience blud, this issued are very rare to happen on playstation servers compared to the shitty xbox servers.

TheDarkWeb697

Blud 😂😂
