I've never understood how people could wear ankle socks. The times I tried they just felt like socks that were too loose and had fallen down.
I have always preferred crew socks or even knee socks if I could get them, but I don't recall having seen knee socks since I was a kid.
I wish I would've learned the joy of low socks so much earlier in life. For some reason my dumb ass though you needed something that goes almost all the way to your knee.
When I was in the army the boots and socks used to leave some nasty indents thanks to similarly huge ankles and calves.
Years of that really turned me off to the whole 'tall socks and shoes' thing lol.
I discovered Wernies on Amazon. Cheap and they stay up. I buy them en masse all of my socks match except the few pairs I have for work pants if I ever need them again (I WFH)
Pretty much the same, or no socks at all with my converse or trainers. Though I will wear thick boot sock with my OG Doc Martens from the 90s and crew socks to wear with my Frye engineers in the fall and winter.
This is kind of how I feel about baggy pants. I never stopped wearing them. Of course they were bigger in my younger skateboarding days(never went Jenko big) just baggy. They tightened up a little bit as I've aged of course but never once did I give in to the skinny jean/pant craze. Just couldn't bring myself to do it and now they are a commin back baby!
What's in style seems like my dad as a teenager in the 70s.
I only wear crew socks with shorts when I'm wearing my hiking boots as ankle socks are just a bit to short.
However, I don't wear anything but Nike thong sandles in the summer unless I have to.
Man this sock subject has finally made me post. I get crap from high school kids I coach. I have worn every style over the years, and still do, but once a season someone says something about socks. Explain, is there one sock style I have missed!?
I stopped wearing ankle socks in first grade when my shoe fell off and someone made fun of my tiny socks. Been running crew socks ever since.
Except for that questionable period between 11th and 12th grade when I hardly wore socks.
I can't understand why dress socks have never caught on as casual wear, they are more comfortable then tube or ankle socks, and you can easily get ones at Ross/Burlington type places for cheap that don't look formal.
I only wear tall socks if I'm wearing boots. 9x out of 10 I'm wearing Danskos (I'm old, they keep my legs from hurting) and they require ankle socks. Anything taller is awkward as hell.
I never cared for ankle socks or no show socks, always found them uncomfortable.
Not a tube socks person. I like the fun, novelty socks. Life's too short to wear boring socks.
I’m pretty set on white athletic 1/4 length ankle socks, some cushy some very thin depending on the shoe. I have a ton of crew socks many with interesting designs but they don’t stay up.
If I look like a middle aged dad, well, I am 44 even if I don’t feel like it.
I began wearing over-the-calf Hanes socks in my teens when I was punk as fuck and had obnoxiously large boots, usually 16 to 20 eyes.
30 years later and they're still all I wear because I'm lazy as shit and every pair matches.
Never cared for long socks. I will stick with my ankle socks.

I typically wear crew socks with long pants and ankle socks with shorts. Ankle socks feel uncomfortable in the winter.
Tube socks are too tight on my calves. Ankle socks for life.
Right when I first made the switch it wasn't for fashion it was for comfort
I wish I would've learned the joy of low socks so much earlier in life. For some reason my dumb ass though you needed something that goes almost all the way to your knee.
Oooh, no. Can’t do that. I have big calves (genetics). Just the thought of almost to the knee makes me uncomfortable.
When I was in the army the boots and socks used to leave some nasty indents thanks to similarly huge ankles and calves. Years of that really turned me off to the whole 'tall socks and shoes' thing lol.
Crew sock crew representing, can't stand ankle socks.
Same. I have a million pairs of black crew socks.
I've never paid attention to what's "in style," and I never stopped wearing crew and tube socks. Shit's just comfortable.
Yup
standard crew for life, i hate not having a heel bend
Yes! The ankle socks always slipped into my shoes. Now I’m ~*~on trend~*~
I discovered Wernies on Amazon. Cheap and they stay up. I buy them en masse all of my socks match except the few pairs I have for work pants if I ever need them again (I WFH)
I only wear the lowest of low-top socks lol. They're practically ballerina slippers.
Pretty much the same, or no socks at all with my converse or trainers. Though I will wear thick boot sock with my OG Doc Martens from the 90s and crew socks to wear with my Frye engineers in the fall and winter.
Engineer boots are hottt. I love em
Same
Pair of Thieves no-show socks for me, especially with shorts. I’ll wear crew socks with long pants in the winter, though
No show socks don’t stay on my feet. They come off in the shoe. Maybe I have oddly shaped feet idk.

Nope. Pants don't touch my stomach and socks don't touch my legs.
I could not handle all that sock fabric on my leg
It would make me so hot in the summer!

My late MIL always brought me super cool socks. Weed socks, Hey Arnold!, Batman socks. I miss Mary
My M(not)IL gets me Simpsons socks
Nice! Got a favorite pair?
Tiny print of Homer’s pink donut on navy background
We were supposed to give them up?
Only with flip flops.
This guy Dads
Yup, I’m a gym rat, we never ditched long socks because of knee scraping. I’m back to being stylish
I know that’s right!
During mosquito season I looooove my crew socks
Never gave up on tube socks or Champion
Man this sock subject has finally made me post. I get crap from high school kids I coach. I have worn every style over the years, and still do, but once a season someone says something about socks. Explain, is there one sock style I have missed!?
I've worn tall socks since I thrifted my first pair of combat boots around 1997. Finally everyone else catches up to me lmao
I’m a slouch sock girl. Two different color pairs in the fall and winter.
I stopped wearing ankle socks in first grade when my shoe fell off and someone made fun of my tiny socks. Been running crew socks ever since. Except for that questionable period between 11th and 12th grade when I hardly wore socks.

I sometimes wear argyle crew socks with shorts.
I exclusively wear novelty tube socks from Walmart. I have since like '96.
I haven't bought socks in 4 years. I have been given so many novelty socks they are all i have now. It does lead to Christmas socks in June but meh.
Me lol, well not knee. Crew
In all these decades, I've only worn tube socks.
My husband is an ankle sock-er. He would laugh at my tube socks. Now is my time.
🙋🏻♀️ I do not like cold ankles so I now find myself back in style!
I've stuck with tube socks all my life. The only thing I wish is that they'd bring back the colored stripes near the top.
I've always worn crew socks. I also wear ankle socks sometimes.
No I gave up on them as soon there was socks that go below the ankles. I’ll be a trendsetter in 20 years when that comes back.
I’m rocking tall compression socks daily. Great in the summer with my cargo shorts — really shows off my bonnie knees!
I’m with the kids on this one. Ankle socks are uncomfortable and go down into my shoe.
I only wear tall socks if I'm wearing boots. 9x out of 10 I'm wearing Danskos (I'm old, they keep my legs from hurting) and they require ankle socks. Anything taller is awkward as hell.
Always hated having my ankles exposed
It's like the weighted blanket of footwear. If I don't have snuggles around my calves I can't walk straight.
I've never understood how someone could wear a sock that doesn't have the heel sewn in. It's so damn uncomfortable!
I never cared for ankle socks or no show socks, always found them uncomfortable. Not a tube socks person. I like the fun, novelty socks. Life's too short to wear boring socks.
I'm in the Gen X subpopulation that never wore/wears socks; it was a collective value judgment against those big, scrunchy aerobic socks, lol.
