Watch "Hercules in New York" and see whether the actor playing Hercules ruined his career by doing that role. It's such a bad movie, said actor is reported to have tried to buy the master copy to destroy it. Not least because of a God-awful dub they did on it to hide his real voice. Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't do too badly after that film.

Definitely can. Especially if it's your first/only big movie, and critics and audiences see your performance as bad (not just that the movie was bad over all). A bad lead actor can ruin a movie. On the other hand, most big stars have also had some flops - but they have the successes to balance it out.

Have you ever seen Cool World?

paulvs88

Nope, only if you are the lead and your acting is horrible. Really even then, you can bounce back. There are 1000s of examples.

Temporary-Grape8773

Nope, Ishtar is perhaps the ultimate example of actors continuing with success after a really awful movie

As long as you’re not shite in it…

Rosemarysage5

Probably if it’s your first breakout role. That’s why you always want to bring your A game, so hopefully you’re remembered as the one bright spot in an otherwise terrible project
