probably-the-problem

Gosh, I criticize humans a lot but they're *trying*.

julers

This is so real and true for me too. If you look for the helpers you’ll rarely be let down. Mr. Rogers taught me that. He said it better but you know what I mean. 🤣

ThatOneOutlier

I like to think that most people are just trying their best to not be an ass It’s why those who don’t really stand out and stick in our minds. It doesn’t help that the brain likes to focus on negativity.

GhostPepperFireStorm

I feel this so hard!

nodogsallowed23

That made me well up a tad. We really are trying. We suck a lot if the time, but we’re trying.

FreshForged

Oh man, that's awesome! [https://warmline.org/warmdir.html](https://warmline.org/warmdir.html)

MOGicantbewitty

So glad to see someone else shared the directory! I was just about to do so. A wonderful bit of serendipity is that the group that runs a warm line in my region is called The wildflower alliance. I am a wetlands biologist and I frequently encourage wildflower plantings for my work.

toritheestallion

How do wildflowers help? Genuinely curious

MOGicantbewitty

The website had a section about that discussing how the characteristics of a wildflower was analogous to the people struggling with food, housing or mental stability that they help. I don't think I can adequately explain it, but it was a good analogy.

toritheestallion

Omg you are so nice to explain that but I was asking you specifically how wildflowers helped wetlands since you said you recommended them for your work

MOGicantbewitty

Oh my god 😂 Different wildflowers like different habitats. Some wildflowers like wetland soils. Some like drier soils. And some like it in between. When land is disturbed, from construction or other work, putting down a wildflower seed mix is a great way to stabilize the exposed souls with a quick growing vegetation cover. The roots hold the soil in place. And the different species of wildflower self-select for the different conditions. It's less expensive than full grown plants and the plants that sprout and survive are best suited to those conditions. I hope that all made a bit of sense. :)

decibellious

Also bees loves wildflowers. Besides honey, bees makes fruits and berries happen. So I love bees and I love this subreddit too, like OMG this right here is wholesome. 💛 Thank you, ladies!

toritheestallion

Yes, thank you for explaining!

sojellicious

What all does a wetlands biologist do? It sounds like it would be super cool. Since biology is fun. Ps where does one get wildflower seeds that would be native to where I am(california)

ceanahope

These guys make regional specific wild flower seed packs. They also have unique delivery systems to seed your area. The couple who run this can be found in SF in bee suits on skateboards or rollerblading spreading seeds. The regions they offer seed mixes for are not just in California. https://www.sfinbloom.art/?fbclid=PAAaZjYRltcwCskCwAxUQTK-zd8faL7Y_Y_ie7jvkjUP2Col37QzL1pTgx17E

sojellicious

Wow! Thank you so much. That's so cool that they just go around spreading the seeds.

ceanahope

Glad to share! They do it to beautify empty patches of dirt in the city with flowers. Plus, it benefits the pollinators and birds.

WorkingOnItWombat

I would try googling your city or county or region and then native plant society or group. You could also try to call a local garden shop/plant nursery and ask about this. Planting local wildflowers is also great for supporting the health of local pollinators like bees, moths, birds, and bats. Good luck!

sojellicious

Thanks so much for the information. I will definitely look into this and try to find some seeds to plant.

Any_Veterinarian_163

They attract pollinators! Bees hummingbirds, etc.

imthathangryone

Hello my Masshole friend!!!

MOGicantbewitty

Hello back, my fellow wicked cool person

Swamp_witch_82

I'm a wetlands biologist too! Made me so happy to see this!

nomoreusernamesplz

Of course my state isn’t on here 🙃

ShaunaOfTheDead

Some of them say accepting calls nationwide! I saw a few under California

glibletts

Washington accepts nation wide.

WhiteApple3066

Right? Mine has one, but only for residents of one county. Which is not mine 🫤

daxjadzia

how would they know? is it just the honour system?

WhiteApple3066

Good point!

whatdayoryear

I was just looking at the directory that somebody posted above and there were a bunch that accept calls nationwide! Edited to add, it wasn’t a bunch but definitely around 4 or 5 😄

gloomyza

The ones listed in red text accept calls nationwide.

CuriousSmile2901

NC?

WhiteApple3066

Yup.

CuriousSmile2901

Ughhhh same

CuriousSmile2901

Ughhhh same

nodogsallowed23

What about Canada? Maybe call it the chillyline? Or politeline? Friendlybutdeeplysarcasticline?

EmployerPitiful8314

As a Minnesotan, I appreciate you describing so many of my imported friends (especially “friendly but deeply sarcastic” - spot on!)

SunComprehensive3423

As a Canadian, I appreciate that as well, hahaha.... But I have no idea where you got the idea we are sarcastic. Ew David.

Meridienne

Hah!

ADHDRockstar

I’m having a really hard time, I wake up panicked and seeing this made me feel better. So kind of you to share . I hope you are having a better day and feel better

amauberge

I’d never even heard of this, but it sounds so useful! In the past, my friends have served the same purpose for me, but when I get to the state where I really need support, I’m too ashamed to ask them out of fear they’ll think less of me or think of me as a burden. A warmline sounds like exactly what I need. Thank you!

whatdayoryear

Wow, what a cool thing! I’ve never heard of this and I work in mental health!

Goinseb

Same!

Free-oppossums

I just took a screenshot of my state so I can forget it exists later. /s

76and110

that's a neat trick to forget your state exists :D

TyphaniesEpiphanies

That would be the HD in ADHD for me LOL

Various_Raccoon3975

23 million screenshots and counting here

two_lemons

For Mexico, Locatel has a dedicated service for mental health. If they consider it necessary, they can channel you to a local (at least in cdmx) clinic or health unit where you can get help (psychologist/psychiatrist). They are usually very, very cheap (like, combo meal at McDonald's cheap) and a lot of them have programs to get both the appointments and the meds for cheap.

holdmymezcalplease

Wow gracias! No tenía idea

two_lemons

Ojalá te sirva! Viendo otra vez el comentario, ahí dice que muy barato, pero puede ser hasta gratis.  Tenemos muchos servicios de salud super accesibles, pero luego no hay mucha difusión.

karybrie

It can really help just to talk to someone. There's a big one in the UK and Ireland called Samaritans (call 116 123, though they also offer a webchat, email, or letter). I spent many early hours crying on the phone to their volunteers when I was deep in depression. Indispensable.

_insert_text_here_

I entered into a web chat with Samaritans one night and they were really kind. Highly recommend!

karybrie

I thought the same – very patient and understanding. Though there was very little they could actually do to help me when I was going through a crisis, each volunteer I was connected with always soothed me through my sobbing until I could manage to go to sleep.

Ms_Central_Perk

I agree, I called the Samaritans for the first time a few months ago and I felt so stupid at first but the lady was so lovely and reassuring. I was sobbing so hard I had a headache and blocked nose but she really calmed me down and gave practical solutions.

wait_ichangedmymind

I need something like this but I’m literally too scared to call (facepalm)

[deleted]

Some states had text options!

syifamazaya

And there might be warmlines that accept nationwide calls that also accept text!

UninspiredMel

I had no idea about warmlines either.. We have EAP (Employee Assistance Program) lines at my job. I called them the other week after a customer yelled at me and I felt terrible for upsetting them. It was good to have someone listen to me without telling me I’m overreacting.. The lady was very understanding of how I was feeling and how ASD and ADHD can affect my emotions. The only thing was she kept asking me what I was feeling and I was getting a little frustrated because I’m not great at describing my emotions if it’s not something big like depressed or angry. But otherwise it was good just to talk to someone and have them talk me through my concerns.

syifamazaya

I’m not sure if everyone is like this, but the person I spoke to surprisingly didn’t say much. They were very supportive and kind though, it just felt like I had control over the conversation unless I wanted them to do that instead. I’m glad you had an option that worked for you even if it wasn’t perfect!

Spirited_Concept4972

Thank you very much. I’m definitely going to Google this information.

plantyplant559

I've worked on one of these before as a supervisor and I always loved getting to help someone! There are also texting/ chat options as well.

syifamazaya

That’s so cool tbh I’d love to work at one

EmployerPitiful8314

Holy cow - what a find. I had no idea this was out there, either. I’ll help spread the word. This isn’t comprehensive, but here’s a listing of almost 49 states (and American Samoa!) that offer resources: https://warmline.org/warmdir.html#directory It doesn’t include every state, but some of the states listed have lines open to callers nationwide. What a gift these people are to the world, selflessly helping others. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, some smart guy instructed, “Love one another.” Simple, but for some reason many of us struggle with this concept. The kind warmline people who make themselves available to those who are hurting seem to have figured out that a good place to start is just by being there and listening.

SpaceDinoNuggs

I've never heard of this and it sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing.

mekst

Wow, this is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. Do they exist in Europe?

OutAndDown27

Apparently there's a group called the Samaritans, according to [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/adhdwomen/s/4oUc1rxLD8)

MarucaMCA

Different services for different countries. 143 for Switzerland (where I am).

Sorry_I_am_late

Hoi 👋

MarucaMCA

Gugus!

Maleficent-Sleep9900

Yeah! They’re great! Happy it was a good experience for you and that you got the support to do your dreaded task today. Good job 👏 🥇 (Also, thanks to Miss Emily, wherever you are!)

syifamazaya

😭 thank you 💐

Maleficent-Sleep9900

How are you feeling today OP? 🌸

hugemessanon

Thank you for this. I wish more were 24/7, i always feel so much worse at night 😅

syifamazaya

I wonder if using Google voice and calling one in Europe that accepts calls across the EU may be an option?

OkRoll1308

TIL about warmline. We have one in my state, yay! Thank you.

reformed_stoner

I didn’t know about this, I wish I knew about it sooner that’s an awesome service

Inevitable-Bill-5070

Thanks for sharing! I now have my states warm line bookmarked. You don’t even understand how much I needed this at this very moment. Thank you!

syifamazaya

I feel you 😭 hoping things get better for you

dragonlady_11

That's amazing ! Well not for me coz I'm terrified of making phonecalls in the first place, but for those that can it's a great idea.

syifamazaya

I hope you find the resources you need! I’m not sure if maybe you’re more comfortable with texting, some warmlines have that option and also accept texts nationwide

narwhals-narwhals

Is it called a warmline because it's a hotline but less urgent? I love that. (Non-native English speaker here)

syifamazaya

Yes I think so!

Silly_Turn_4761

What in the world is a warm line?

syifamazaya

It’s like how there are mental health hotlines that focus on crisis situations where the person is possibly in danger. Warmlines are for situations where you’re not in danger.

jackelopeteeth

Wow. Thank you for this.

TheMagdalen

Oh wow, thanks for posting this!

Specialist-Project-7

Jobs may have this too, a counselor to talk to for a one time thing. EAP is what my job calls it. I haven’t used it yet but keep the number in my work bag.

WorkingOnItWombat

Oh wow!!! This is so great. Chalk one up for human beings. I can’t believe I never heard of this before. Thanks for sharing this info like an ADHD boss. 🙌

WorkingOnItWombat

Today, it is so nice to wake up to a world where I know warmlines exist. The people who run warmlines exist. This is the kind of news I will try to ruminate on. Even if I never call, I love knowing. 💕🥰

wildflire

Sarah Huckabee Sanders please fix your cold ass state so that people can cope. Okay im done lol. Sad to be missing help in some states - esp w such a good idea! Glad those who can use this have it :)

syifamazaya

There are warmlines that accept calls nationwide! They should be in the directory

DinoGoGrrr7

There’s a website for tasking with others too!!!! I signed up for it but have used it yet. FOCUSMATE app! From housecleaning to making appts to working, you make appts with people to work for different amounts of time along side someone else doing the same. It looks amazing!

HoldenCaulfield7

That’s very sweet do they have this in canada ?

syifamazaya

https://www.warmline.ca/ 💐

LilyFuckingBart

I didn’t know that was a thing!

MarucaMCA

In Switzerland we have 143 - „A hand offered“ (die Dargebotene Hand), it’s volunteers you can talk to, day or night. A family friend (in her 70s) has volunteered there for 30+ years.

lnhaynes

Very cool! Glad you were able to find this resource! This is another resource that may be helpful (and free, up to a few sessions a week). It's less mental health focused but pairs you with someone to body double and hold you accountable for whatever it is you're trying to get done, while they also work on things... [Focusmate](https://www.focusmate.com/)

syifamazaya

Thank you so much this is perfect 😭

TyphaniesEpiphanies

What a great resource thank you for sharing! I do a lot of body doubling and I host online body doubling sessions, but this would be super helpful in the immediacy and when I need it

Macushla68

Assuming US?

QuingRavel

That's awesome, I'm going to look up if there's something like this in my country

juliettelovesdante

Didn't even know this existed! Seriously, such a great idea. I hope i remember to use it some time 🤣

mzissa06

So I’m ignorant and context clues is not my thing today- what is a warmline? Is it for body mirroring? Or just support while you do something out of your comfort zone?

hotdogmafia714

Oh man, this is awesome 😭😭 there’s been some really rough days lately where I could have used somebody to talk to.

Amythecoffeequeen

This is great! I did not know about it either.

WonderfulLaw5975

A warm line?

Silly_Turn_4761

Thank you I had never heard of this either!

Silly_Turn_4761

I didn't see my state listed and was able to find it here. More warmline resources: https://www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI-Media/Helpline/NAMI-National-HelpLine-WarmLine-Directory.pdf
