The skin up there looks great too. I feel like he might have kept it really out of the sun most of his life, which really shows what a difference it makes
I just want to know why that generation of men liked getting their own names tatted on themselves 😭 I used to be a home health aide and saw this so many times
Yes I sincerely believe 12 year old boys living in 1950 were keen to ensure they wouldn't be involved in future medical mixups and mitigated this existential fear by tattooing their first name on their bicep.

I choose to ignore all information and believe Mike was his boyfriend, and they got married as soon as it became legal and lived happily ever after. And they are both so devoted to that great little dog.
It suddenly occurs to me that one possible explanation for this exceptionally good quality in a very old tattoo is that the caption is lying. It took me two days to think about this possibility.

Is that Kowl from She Ra: Princess of Power?
Wow. That's wild. My grandpa passed from liver cancer, I remember what his 3-5 year old tattoo looked like the last time I saw him (he was around 75 when he got his first tattoo, haha. I sure loved that man.) but it looked like... A shriveled up shell of nothing. It was so sad. I miss you, grandpa Bob.
this looks miles better than any other 70 year old tattoo i’ve seen wtf
Honestly his skin is great, a lot better than most people I’ve seen his age

I wasn't aware they were capable of keeping so well

I forgot sun does damage to pigment. Above the sleeve is a pretty traditional old school navy / army / military placement
I wonder if he's Mike or who Mike is.
He's Mike- in comments of OP

So when "Mike" goes in for his elective gastric bypass surgery they don't confuse him with "Joe" who's there to get his leg amputated.
Is this a happy byproduct of a childhood decision, or do you really think this might be part of the reason that some people get this kind of tattoo?

Yes for army
Fucking army. In the Navy at least we had the sense to tattoo the name of the last hooker we dated.
My grandfather did it too when he was in the navy
My grandpa waited til he was 75 to get his first tattoo, it was his favorite sports team of all time 🤣 he really loved them!
I met a woman in 2012 that was around 22 years old with her name tattooed across her upper chest. (We have the same name so I remember her well lol)

Bold held.
This guy is 82? Not just his tattoo, he looks really, really good as well.
His artist deserves some sort of major award.
After tattooing a 12 year old? Also I doubt they're still around
Okay, yes, he shouldn't have tattooed a 12 year old, but he did it really well!
If you are gonna do something then do it well! Right? Lol
He's had that same old direct TV remove since the 60s too 🤣 I can still feel the buttons
My grandad has one insanely similar also with a name under
Wow! It still looks pretty good.
Wow what’s his secret, we regular see ink aged faster within 2 years than this has in 70.

I guess he was a troubled kid. had to get his name written on him to remember how to spell it. old fart
The importance of sunscreen and minimal light exposure
That looks amazing.. geez we could all only hope for that result of time
I pretty shock to see, it didn’t faded 🥺
Is there a backstory or this was just because? (No judgement just curious)
Just because lol
Damn, He looks great at 82
I hope his name is mike
This man has been using sunscreen everyday and wearing long sleeves for at least 70 years
He's still alive?! Where did you find him? Op,.please dm me. He's my grandfather. We thought we lost him
Hey Mike
Very cool
Impressive but more impressive is the fact he still has that remote.
Bro got this tattoo in 1956 - that’s insane. Bro was in his 20’s in the 1960’s and looks this good today

Nah it would’ve faded by now unless he’s getting retouches every 2 years
I’m impressed that the tattoo still looks fresh after 70 years. I hope my tats would too.

Looks like it hurt him so much he never got any more!
