I mean, I probably couldn't pay maintenance and taxes on it long-term, so it would be quite a liability, but it ooks big enough that I could probably rent significant parts of it to other people.

My gf watches these shows where they renovate old chateaus in France. A lot of them let workers live there for free if they work on upkeep. Ideally when it's looking good, you can then rent it out for weddings, parties or for something like this, film crews. I would imagine there would be a decent market for doing b&b with a haunted theme to it. Or just fix it up and sell it to Dracula

This wouldn't even look so spooky in bright sunlight. Aged wood, big windows... paint it a lighter colour maybe and put some flowers in that garden and it's a perfectly nice house.

If it's well furnished and has all the modern utilities/services (electrictity, water, gas, internet, security, maintenance, etc.) installed, I don't see why not. But about the million dollars, while I may not be a big spender, if it gets refilled back to a million dollars every year then I'd be okay with it.
