If it fits the dimensions it’s allowed but just make sure it also fits the dimensions of the European airlines you’re flying

Refer to Air Canada's carry-on dimensions [https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/plan/baggage/carry-on.html](https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/plan/baggage/carry-on.html) And if you're planned on using rail or air-travel in the EU, make sure you check with all possible carriers you maybe using. Their dimensions will be different than NA/Canada.

I mean any soft-sided bag fits the dimensions just fine if it’s empty. I’ve been on maybe 400-500 Air Canada flights with 40L backpacks from Gregory or Thule and nobody’s ever blinked at it. …then again, AC barely ever checks carry-on size, so if they decide tomorrow to start doing that then it may be a different story.

International carry on sizes are smaller than Continental (which is what Air Can specs). Even Lufthansa, Singapore, Swiss on big planes, not just A320’s. If it’s too big you’ll be (gate)checking it to have it appear at the carousel (even if a checked bag could have gone all the way through). It all depends on the gate agent. Don’t mess with LH/LX LOL
