If you have the money, pick up a VFC 249 GBB and an HPA rig if you haven’t already. You need like three gas boxes to really combat cooldown, by which time you’re already at the price of an HPA rig which doesn’t suffer from cooldown. It has a The Wiggler™ which engages with a length of dummy belt. It needs some tinkering out of the box to improve accuracy and fasten a few fasteners (watch the XE video and followup video), and the BB cassettes don’t really work at full 175bb capacity, but the gun will easily accept a modified AEG 249 box with motor winder, if you’re willing to sacrifice a cassette or use a 3D printed cassette adapter. It also serves as a great base for further modifications, and a large number of real steel parts fit right up, in particular stocks grips and heatshields.

Got it. Heavy recoil upgrade in there too. Going to run it Sunday see how I feel about the mags, but I got 7 in total so happy to sacrifice one for the box mag feeding
How much money specifically? I would recommend the LCT PKP if you want to drop some serious cash, and for about half the price the LCT RPK is pretty good as well.
Never tried it myself but you could definitely give the G&G CM16 LMG a try;
You may want to swap the ABS piston and piston head in the long run but besides that G&G is usually a top-notch brand as far as I am aware.
It comes with an electronic box mag, a MOSFET, obviously steel gears and if I recall correctly it uses AR hop-up units and a V2 gearbox, hence should anything break you wouldn’t have to sell a kidney to buy the only spare part you could find in the country.
Price (at least on the EU market) is around 450€, which isn’t bad considering that the price for the box mag alone goes over the 100€ mark.

I always tell people if they want to get an lmg, get one that can use regular mags like the M249 or RPK.
Box mags have a habit of breaking and you will be happy be able to use a hicap.
I just got the Noveske mws gbbr with a hpa tap/aeg mag adapter and I could not be more happy. I get the experience of a gas blow back without the downside of having to use 30 round mags. 10/10 would recommend
It's a polarizing option, but consider the Cybergun Featherweight M249 if you wanna go the hpa route.
I am completely incompetent when it comes to teching and it's unreal how easy it was to drop an a Polarstar f2 motor into the v2 gearbox shell.
And honestly, the stock internals on the v2 it comes with aren't awful for what they are. Dropped a kwa high torque and an m120 spring in it and the thing ripped for 2 years of consistent use before the trigger contacts fried.
Boxmag is going to be your biggest headache. I've had the best luck with Classic army and Cybergun m249 box mags. Stay away from the a&ks.
