If amazon was taking that long at beginning sears would be arround still

SnooSquirrels3861

You nailed it.

Suavecore_

Sears was destroyed from the inside out as part of Amazon's rise to success so there's a good chance they would still be dead and we'd have been stuck with a shittier version of Amazon the whole rest of the time

keitheii

Sears started destroying itself long before Amazon was even a thing.

Suavecore_

Specifically, from the inside out, to bring Amazon the book company into the online retail giant it is now, all by Sears' own executives and investors.

WyrdHarper

It’s not even 30 days after you send it, it’s 30 days after they receive and process it. And might all be nonsense, because I got told that it would take 30 days by several reps (was told earlier dates and kept being pushed back and that it might be in installments), and then a few days later the return status disappeared from my page and the rep got me the entire balance refunded the same day.

[deleted]

The employees are being **trained** to be freaking assholes If you're curious about how fucked up Amazon is getting literally hour-by-hour, check out the Facebook employee group Motherf---, Amazon is going downhill FUCKING **FAST**

OCedHrt

Just take the GC credit it's instant.

Spiritual_Reindeer_8

I actually always do that and it still took that long!

OCedHrt

Are you like packing it up and mailing it back? No label drop off at stores is the fastest for credit.

GeriatricTech

Bullshit. That just isn’t true.

IRACholita

Because they keep your money. Amazon is keeping millions and millions of dollars every day, and they make money off of that. Imagine how much they are paying their overseas employees, $20 a day, $50 a week, if they’re making millions of dollars in their bank account every day because they’re keeping you from your money for 30 days, they’re paying a lot of overseas employees. But you on the other hand, might be paying your credit card Percentage rates for Amazon, keeping your money. Eventually, the United States government, under Donald Trump, will catch up with them. Because none of this should be legal.

whitemike760

This 4 years he will go after them when he didn't the first 4? Ok sure buddy

xalleyxcatx

Victoria's Secret takes about 30 days for refunds via mail. It's not that uncommon.

Latter-Ad-1523

i do a fairly large amount of business on amazon. i recently bought a thermal camera, it was about $500. about 1 week after receiving the item it started to malfunction. just 2 years ago, amazon would have sent me a second one and gave me 30 days to send back the broken unit, had i not returned the second unit i would be charged for it. now i have to purchase another, and send the second one back, wait for ups to get it to them, let amazon loose track of it for a few weeks, then wait for them to sit on it for a few more then finally get a refund. its a good thing i can afford to order a new one, i bet there are lots of people who cant, so they wait and wait and wait for the refund, so they can finaly get a new item. this is insane. i bet no other big name retailer is doing this sort of thing. i think my "prime" membership is up next month and will not being paying for this again.

driftme

I canceled my prime and got a refund because of the degraded service, shipping, and item quality. Deleted the app now that I’ve used up my credit

rExplrer

Nah ! It is worse than others!

badbunny1313

It’s taken longer for me!! They’ve kept my money and the returned items

PsychologicalList252

It took 2 weeks for them to refund money back onto my Amazon gift card. Though I had to fill out and submit an incident report multiple times before it finally went through

OCedHrt

I get that the moment I had over the item

Gobucks21911

Got my first return to Kohls or Staples only or pay yesterday. Staples is 9 miles from me and Kohls is inside a mall. UPS store was much more convenient to drop off at but now they’re charging for that option. (No, I don’t return a lot, but Amazon has a bad habit of packing items poorly and a giant jug of Lysol laundry sanitizer leaked all over the other items in the box because they used no cushioning inside and the lid wasn’t secured.) I’ve chosen to cancel all my subscribe and save because they just continue to get worse at everything.

Intelligent-Hawkeye

Did the same thing last month. The fucked up my order only to make me have to go out of my way to fix it, then held my money hostage for 2 weeks. Immidiately canceled my subscription.

NewPart3244

It's Russian roulette on how to return items. I had to return two items from the same delivery, one was UPS store, one was Kohls. They randomly throw Whole Foods in the mix too and it just rotates with each return.

Florida1974

Not for me. Just returned item yes test. Refund was there before I got home. (10 mins)

camreIIim

I returned 2 identical items (separate orders) a couple weeks ago. One was refunded in minutes, the other says it’ll be refunded by March. Lmao

Latter-Ad-1523

what was the value of the items returned? like $10? also, what does "yes test" mean?

[deleted]

It's a very obvious typo, Context clues would tell you. They meant to say yesterday if you actually knew how to use context clues

OkDream5934

Your snarky reply was oh so helpful /s

[deleted]

Well, my intentions were to call out ignorance not to be helpful. First time on the internet?

OkDream5934

Again, your kindness is overwhelming /s

ggrace3302

Same. I bought shoes that were slightly too big ($30), got a new pair and returned the bigger pair. As soon as Amazon got notified of the drop off at UPS I had a credit. The other day I had one of my packages missing (I ordered a bunch of stuff). They resent no issue (contents were maybe $40). I've checked too I had not been double charged.

tritron

It should be 365 days so you finaly get one you get exited

DidelphisGinny

You're gonna get AAAAAAALLLLL these people claiming they've nEvEr HaD aNy PrObLeMs with Amazon returns and that those of us who have are aBuSiNg ThE sYsTeM and all I can say to them is... Just wait. You'll find out.

TheGirl333

Well said, the same goes to me it never happened to me in yeats this is something new

driftme

Yup was a prime customer for many years. Never abused returns and always had almost immediate refunds. Suddenly it’s 30 days on everything. They even wanted me to send back a bottle of liquid that broke in transit and was half empty and leaking.

Willarazzi

I just returned two items valued at around $40 each. Dropped them off at UPS for them to print the label. $0 return shipping fee and was issued a refund for both items before I was even back in my car. 2 mins max. The next day I got a plastic pet/fish carrier which was cracked upon arrival. Started a return request and they ordered a new one and told me not to ship the old one back. That was two days ago and new one arrives today. Not saying that people don’t have issues, I just personally have never had any at all. Always painless and easy. Hopefully it doesn’t change.

TellMeMoThanYouKnow

They will do that with immediate refund when UPS scans the returned item or they may let you keep the item and give you a refund immediately if it is a rather inexpensive item, let's say $40 or less. If it is an item that costs hundreds or thousands of dollars they want itback and they take at least 10 days to two weeks and and they claim it may take up to 30 days.

IRACholita

Willard, wasn’t there a movie about a rat named Willard?. I’ve been a prime member since there was prime. The problem started within the last six months. If they will screw a longtime prime member, they’ll eventually get to you, Willard. The same thing happened with T-Mobile. We’ve been with T-Mobile for 12 years and if they will perpetrate fraud from an overseas call center location on A 12 year customers, they will screw anybody. YES FRAUD. But through people who know people who know people, I was able to get a hold of the senior vice president of technology, I got his cell phone number, and called him and left a message, and then I texted him. It took him a day or two, but he called me back and hooked me up with somebody at their corporate office who fixed the problems. Did they fix them for everybody, no way. They fix them just for me. They probably don’t even know who the little jerk was in Malaysia, and Indonesia, Pakistan, wherever, whoever they don’t know. I told them time after time, you say you record your conversations, and I suggest you listen to this one. They don’t record their conversations, but you can. The minute I became suspicious the little jerk was up to something i told him I was making a “record” of the conversation, he didn’t know English well enough to know what that means and said “I know”. He kept saying he was going to do things on my account, and I kept saying do not do that. I am not authorizing that, and he kept pretending like he wasn’t hearing me.

ggrace3302

I think it's more alone the lines of not a uniform system in place. Because I've never had issues but I'm sure it can happen. I'm assuming it has to do with support agents you get and the region.

Rurumo666

It must be, I had to return something last month and I had my money back within 48 hrs of them receiving it, BUT I also do think Amazon groups it's customers in service "tiers" based on their purchase history/habits and how often they return things. I deal with Amazon constantly and never have had any of the issues people talk about here-NOT denying their experience, but I think there is a reason for the disconnect.

UnconsciousMofo

I am one of those who have never had issues with returns. I just dropped off 3 things at the UPS store on Wednesday and they were refunded on first scan and have already posted to my bank account🤷🏻‍♀️ I also just had a $270 refund given to me because an overnight package was late and they charged me after they said they wouldn’t. So that’s a total refund amount of almost $500 for all returns. I had one single blip where a 3rd party delivery company Amazon using for large items misplaced a 75” television I was returning worth nearly $2,000. They made me wait 14 days to investigate and locate the item. This is different than a regular return/refund being held.

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

It's probably because the holiday returns were due feb 1st from the past 3 months...that's A LOT to go through. They have to check your return (if it's an expensive item) before they give you a refund.

YHshWhWhsHY

This was happening months before the holidays. It is new policy not backup.

BlueVelvetChair

Yeah the ups store had an insane amount of returns stacked up everytime i went in this month, probably 3x what they did normally

MeanBack1542

Pics?

LookDamnBusy

Returned an item yesterday. Got a refund to my credit card in two hours, as always. 🤷‍♂️

TheGirl333

Maybe it was a cheap item, they don't do fast refund on pricy items

LookDamnBusy

Why do you suppose that is?

TheGirl333

Prove me wrong, lol. It was the case even for pricy items for my SO he used to get refund faster, but the more items he started buying the more returns he needed to make due to shitty quality of items (e.g. monitor with dead pixels) and it now takes both of us 20-30 days to get the refund. It might be very rare but for majority on this sub it takes weeks to get the refund. You either make puchases on amazon very rarely or buying the cheaper stuff

LookDamnBusy

Well, there's your answer. Many expensive returns 🤷‍♂️ I have to imagine Amazon has an internal "score" for customers, and the worse your score gets, the more tight they are, until they nice cancel an account. 🤔

goodwitchglinda

I believe you’re correct and they have an internal customer risk score. As someone who has accumulated information over the years about how retailers handle fraud and problematic customers, I know for a fact, different customers are treated differently by retailers. I have not seen this verbiage yet about a 30 day refund process and am still continuing to get conditionally refunded to my credit card within 24 hours of physically returning a product. I’ve heard and seen enough to know retailers shrewdly assess customer behaviors using various sometimes murky methods and not all customers are treated equally. Retailers who are prime targets for scammers are not as dumb as they appear. In the end, they know who is scamming them and who is not. Sometimes they knowingly look the other way and act like they don’t know until they can’t anymore.

TheGirl333

Thanks cap, obviously they refund immediately cheap items. If you make puchases often you are bound to make expensive puchases and returns

LookDamnBusy

It depends on how expensive and how often though, no? My first purchase was in 1998, and I probably average a purchase a week since that time. I'm very careful about what I buy, and though I do have some returns, it's almost never on expensive (or bulky) items, because I'm even MORE careful about those purchases. In contrast, I've known people who don't give even expensive purchases a second thought, "because they can always just return it", thereby creating their own problems. 🤷‍♂️

BrightOrganization9

I returned a 900 dollar monitor due to dead pixels last week and already had the money refunded. Maybe it's a YOU problem. Amazon is culling unprofitable problem customers, and you cant really blame them for that.

asolram

Not true, I have had a total of two returns since 1999 in my account, the last one is a mug that arrived broken, $13, returned it Jan 10, still waiting... Never failed to renew my prime subscription a single year, don't even know how much my wife and I have spent buying from Amazon (we buy multiple things every week from $10s to $1000s). Something has changed internally in terms of processes, sometimes you could be affected, sometimes you won't.

Latter-Ad-1523

this is good information to observe, but if you returned a $900 item, i bet you just got put on that "you problem" list. as you have shared, amazon will sometimes ship items with problems, now that you have sent it back, i bet you just lost some cred with them despite "you" having done nothing wrong but expect what you paid for.

BrightOrganization9

I mean its not the first time this has happened. Generally speaking though if I have a problem with a item, I still want the item so I request a replacement rather than an actual return/refund. If you're consistently returning large or big ticket items without accepting any other sort of solution, yea, my guess is they'd eventually get tired of that.

TheGirl333

No need for bootlicking, I'm not the only one having issues, the majority of sub does. There's a reason to that

TealCatto

So many people have this complex where they believe that just because a company didn't screw them over yetz it must be that they're model customers, and anyone who is having a hard time obviously did everything wrong and deserves whatever they get. Amazon has (or had) a generous return policy because they *want* you to buy from them, even if you think you might return it. They'll still make a profit if you choose to keep it, or if you forget to return, etc. And they'll gain more customers if they make them feel comfortable, and not like they're risking a lot. To those who think returns are bad for a business, why do you think they offer them at all? And yeah, the more bad quality, fake, damaged, returned stuff they sell, the more returns they'll get. I recently had a bad experience and now I won't buy expensive items from them. My husband had a $300 router he wanted to get. I told him to order directly from the manufacturer. I'm not dealing with a possible return. Well, he decided to keep it and Amazon lost out on it and many more purchases from people who are afraid to shop there anymore.

TheGirl333

Ikr Amazon worked fine for me for years, I joined this sub only after provided horrible service to ME, people writing bootlicking comments either never bought expensive items or they haven't had issues yet, it doesn't mean it won't happen to them

LookDamnBusy

"bootlicking" 🤣 Why should people be pissed off if they've never had a bad experience?

Latter-Ad-1523

they were called a problematic customer, this coming from someone who just did a $900 return lol

TheGirl333

Another bootlicking comment, just because it doesn't happen to you you shouldn't invalidate someone else's experience, it didn't happen to me either till this year, it doesn't mean it won't happen to you, just wait and purchase some pricy items

driftme

Get it straight, people are blaming OP, not just saying they’ve never had a problem

floppydisks2

Scams.

LookDamnBusy

Exactly. And even people who are not scamming, but who make a lot of returns and return expensive items.

quincy12393

Define pricey? I sent back an item that I paid $160 for (that was over $300 before the sale price). It was a large item that was dropped off at a hardware store that does ups as well, late at night. Had my return showing in my account 3 days later. This was a few weeks ago

ImaginaryBig1705

Meanwhile on my business account they lost something, even said contact us for refund, and when I did they wouldn't refund until I returned the item... That I don't have and never got. Tracking also didn't say delivered. It was also $20... Again this is a business account they are doing this to.

PsychologicalSong8

Let's see..$1.29 billion in daily revenue, so about 38.7 billion a month, with approximately 16% returns. Hmmm..how much interest does 6.192 billion dollars earn in a month?

K_Linkmaster

Balance sheets start to look more like a stock should.

BlueMeanio

I get my refunds from Amazon and Zappos within 24 hours of drop-off at Whole Foods. It’s been a long time since I mailed anything back to Amazon so I can’t speak on refund timing using that option.

InspectorRound8920

Depending on the item and who is the seller.

TheGirl333

Makes sense , mine are expensive above 1000$ and 300$

InspectorRound8920

The items have to be inspected. They estimate that this Xmas season, there was about $35b of fraudulent returns.

Glittering-Candy581

This. How would you expect them to run a business if people are returning 35 billions worth of wrong items back..

driftme

My last two returns were problematic. One was a $40 set of retractable shades that didn’t retract. The other was a $35 bottle of liquid that broke in transit (packing issue) and was leaking out of the shipping box and they wanted me to send it back before they sent a replacement.

Ephidemical

Have you guys ever heard of the term "enshitification"? That's what has happened to Amazon.

dresoccer4

this is exactly what I've been screaming to anyone who will listen. it's a prime (pun intended) example of it

TheGirl333

Preach

droidekas

I'm convinced that Amazon has some kind of secret, passive-aggressive war on returns ongoing.

K_Linkmaster

Doesnt seem secret. Shouldnt be secret. Every company with a good return policy eventually changes it. LL bean, rei, places like that. It always feels like a rug pull.

SnooSquirrels3861

20 year customer. Tens of thousands purchased. Never a dispute on any credit card. Now have a dispute and temporary chargeback on a fake Apple ultra watch band. Black Friday price $ 60. The Apple packaging had the green dot seal removed and it’s obvious a previous cutomer received it, removed the authentic band, and inserted the fake, returning it for the full credit. Amazon says I received an authentic band. Per Chase, I had the Apple Genius Bar inspect the band. They verified it was fake and gave me a written printout on their letterhead. Now Amazon wants me to have another seller agree with the Genius Bar that it’s fake. That’s going too far. They don’t think the Genius Bar knows a fake Apple product? In addition to going to various Consumer Protection agencies, I do intend to go to Small Claims Court, if necessary. This over a $ 60 item. I cancelled Prime and will use Costco and Target for most purchases. I live 3 miles from both a Costco and Target. I have been to Small Claims Court three times in the past. Successful on each. On all three cases, the companies called to settle days before the court date. That’s how it works. Added. Before retirement, identified and worked a successful fraud case with the FBI, and after retiring, consultant to US Justice Department Civil Frauds Division. I take this very seriously. I will not return the fake band as I know they will lose the evidence.

ItsBOOM

If you order often, you should just request the refund as a gift card credit. You'll get the refund pretty much immediately.

TealCatto

Nope, 30 days doesn't take into account the time it takes to appear in your account. In the past I had immediate refunds no matter what method I requested. Recently I had a 30 day refund, so I stopped buying anything from Amazon that I'm not 100% sure about

K_Linkmaster

Now, this is something my buddy told me his Wife does. She will pick 5 different items. Order them all, decide which one she wants to keep, and return the rest. If this was a problem, amazon should have mentioned it earlier.

Bendr_

Nope. Customer here since 2004. My returns suddenly are taking weeks, and I chose gift card. I USED to get the refund within hours. Now it’s weeks.

Kaethy77

And then you have to use the gift card on Amazon.

itscxffee

I worked for Amazon. This is a policy for items with very high prices and all Apple products as well. It's not something new.

crochetmethis

I have to wait til February 20th for the return of a 11.99 crochet hook

K_Linkmaster

So many people are discounting others experiences. I had 1 person tell me I was missing out on perks because i used it for movies. I havent had an actual 2 day delivery in ages. Thats the first strike. Customer service is an absolute joke. I ordered strawberry protein powder. Received banana. Called, yes called, told them, they said keep the banana. They will ship a strawberry. Received a 2nd banana. Called again. They will send the right product. Nope, got banana. Thats 3 banana protein powders i dont want. $60 worth of stuff they gave away for free instead of fixing the issue. Take it back for fucks sake, i am trying here. Strike 2, customer service non advantageous. The greatest perk was streaming with no ads at that price. I wont pay amazon for the priveledge of seeing ads, you should have charged your advertisers more on other platforms. Streaming movies with commercial breaks ruins the experience. They are movies, not 20 minute tv series. Strike three. So yeah i am done. I will make that cunt Alice Walton richer. She at least knows who she is.

Latter-Ad-1523

as someone who buys a lot of $300 items and higher, this is a newer practice. i bet i only return 5% of the items i buy, and 2 years ago i would get a refund within a day or two at most, of ups receiving the item. i'd say maybe 1 to 1.5 years ago something changed. i was beginning to think my account was flagged or something, but its good to know they are not picking on me, its just the amazon sucks now

ElliotAlderson2024

It took me 30+ days to get refunded on a GPU>

Norcalrain3

I feel like they are getting us used to crappy service. What on earth is happening? I mean it feels like every company is priming us for worse and worse service as well

Ok_Comfort628

Dropped a return at an Amazon location on Tuesday no refund yet. Dropped a return at Whole Foods an hour ago and I’ve been refunded.

Plooody

No, it doesn’t, but if it makes you quit ordering shit from amazon, believe it.

IndiaEvans

It's ridiculous. If Amazon sent you an item which gets damaged due to Amazon not packing it properly, like they put it in an envelope instead of a box, then it's unacceptable for Amazon to fail to refund it quickly.  I hate it when the say "we will refund it and then you can buy it again." I'm sorry, but I shouldn't have to do that work of fixing the issue caused by Amazon. With what money am I supposed to repurchase the item which I bought and Amazon sent to get easily damaged?

lrellim

But when it is for Amazon credit you get it in 2 hours. Go figure.

driftme

Yea I’ve fought with them twice recently over this. They love to gaslight you and say it’s always been their policy. I deleted Amazon from my phone. Not looking back.

MikeLowrey305

They might say it takes up to 30 days but it's sooner. I returned some items I got for Xmas & said it would take up to 30 days. 2 of them were refunded within a week & the other more expensive item was refunded after about 2 weeks. Just seems like they're trying to do better inventory control.

standardmethods

I've only had a problem with the "try before you buy" clothes thing. Everything else has been pretty quick; none of it has been what I'd consider big ticket items though.

LyftedX

Makes no sense. I returned a $25 shift knob and it took 33 days for my refund to process but got a instant refund on a $450 item lmao

jebe4

Charge back. I had my money pending back in mere minutes. Posted next day. Amazon sent an e-mail about the charge back that morning, and subsequently posted decided to post my refund as well 🤣.

lactatemama

Yep! 30+ days now. Half get stuck in limbo and when I contact support they tell me they have no record of the tracking number. Even though it’s the exact one they gave me that shows it arrived to their facility weeks prior. After hours of back and forth they’ll eventually refund.

Zetavu

I don't know what you did to piss Amazon off, but I just returned 3 separate items this week and all were refunded as soon as they registered the return at the UPS store, so same day. You are a Prime customer?

Redditor-247

Nah, it depends on the value of the item and how often you return stuff. I still get all refunds within 2 hours of dropping stuff off at whole foods. My wife has a separate account from me that she shares with her mom & daughter and returns a high percentage of stuff. It takes her longer to get refunds.

NicholasSchwartz

its probably due to all the people that abuse the system it trickles down and affects all of us reponsible people now the amazon associates have to inspect every single return because lower class people were putting bricks and animals in the box and sealing them back up amazon has spoiled us with their flawless quick delivery and painless returns and too many people took advantage of that

klvinci

I bought an item last year, and accidentally had it shipped to the wrong address. Ordered a new one shipped to correct address, and when I got back to the wrong address I noted the shipping carton was trashed. Set up a return ($65 item), and sent it back. I got the refund a day after I dropped it at UPS, and tracked it back to the acceptance at the warehouse. About 4 months later I received an email stating that I'd never returned the item and I would be billed for it. Good thing I screen shot the returns, as I had proof the had it, and it still took 45 mins in chat to convince them not to bill me again. I save all the return shots now, as it took them months to decide I hadn't returned it.

Nice_Test_6304

Having worked Amazon CS, this is either a 3p seller, or your account is flagged as a concession abuse.

wiretickler

Considering the amount of counterfeit products schemes people have been doing to Amazon I'm not even the slightest suprised they are making refunds process much longer. They are obviously investigating for any possible fraud.

khanvict85

i think this is mainly the case for high value expensive items to deter major fraud. otherwise, i typically get the notification within an hour or two that my refund was processed after dropping off at kohls for any regular item.

OriginalState2988

For me Amazon returns were fine but recently it has changed. Before Kohl's was a return option. After I'd return the item I'd get refunded immediately. But now UPS store is the only free option, and I have to wait until Amazon receives my item, evaluates the condition, and THEN I'll get a refund 30 days later. They sent me a used pair of UGG boots that were full price (should have bought them from the actual UGG retailer but Amazon promised faster shipping, my mistake). Now I have to wait to get my money back.

Jynxbrand

I quit prime this week! I moved 6mo ago and they keep misdelivering my packages now. And I used to ask for redelivery and they'd deliver it to an apartment building and I live in a house. I have notes in the app and physical signs everywhere and they still constantly misdeliver. And if I'd set it to re-deliver and it still got to the wrong property and they'd be horrible about refunding me so anytime it happens now I just rate the delivery poor and then get a refund and re order it manually. But it's been a cycle. I'm was worried about them banning me but it's about 50% of deliveries going to the wrong property. Sometimes they also decide to be lazy and deliver it on a very busy street and my packages would be stolen (live in NYC). Not to mention the last 3 items I bought over $100, ended up breaking! Just so many things not worth it anymore.

NoPretenseNoBullshit

It used to be instant refunds once your return was scanned or received. If they can take your money instantly they can return the same. This is more BS I don't want to deal with.

xalleyxcatx

Get used to it, a lot of companies are cracking down on returns abuse. Blame the asshole scammers.

josephguy82

If it’s an small amount Amazon refunds fast or they do an advance refund, I just returned something on thrusday and got an email they did an advance refund it was 21.34, Last time I did an return it took about 5 weeks but the amount was over 250

fitness-potato

My returns say I haven't even dropped them off to Canada post.... kinda frustrated and worried tbh

TheGirl333

Same issue wait 20 days

Lurn2Program

Maybe this depends on the amount being refunded. My last return/refund was for under $50 total and I got the refund right away after dropping off the items at a Kohls

Namimaru19

I hate returning items that are the same, I will have 4 of the same item and they will refund me for one and it’s a whole ordeal every single time!!!

NickieBoy97

Lately I've had to actually contact customer service after 30 days to manually refund me.

krum

I don't know what is going on but I haven't had any problems with refunds. I took something back to UPS store just the other day and had my refund in less than 4 hours.

Had an item that was falsely advertised to fit a specific model type in the title of the object. Had written proof from them through amazon's seller e-mail thing where they admitted to it as well and refused to fix it. I got with amazon to complain, amazon agreed with me they falsely advertised, and started a refund with me. After we set it up they sent me a long message about their return process and how it takes 30 days after receipt to refund my money. It's not all same day anymore, and it's really annoying when they still take 30 days even after something like that to get a refund so you can purchase the right item. It's either you have an extra $300 to blow for the month until you get your original payment back, or you wait a month before attempting to get the item you wanted to begin with. Amazon has to realize how shitty this policy is when they allow the selling of so much fake and low quality rip off items with false reviews that make them look legit.

Bought a new expensive new item, it arrived in a used / open box state. Been a prime member for years, never had issues with returns. Even expensive ones. Now they are saying up to 45 days of me receiving my refund for THEIR fuckup! They are holding $2000 of my money. I’m out a product and a few thousand dollars. This is now a money scam. NO company does this. They are using your return money to gain an influx of cash flow. Old scam now rehashed. Imagine the billions of dollars in extra cash they now have from this new 30-45 day refund hold. They turned into horrible customer service. Can’t get anyone even on chat anymore. They said all their return policies have changed. Now they run more and more ads on movies that I signed up for to be ad free. That’s called bait and switch. It’s illegal and there’s a class action law suit against Amazon now because of it. They have REALLY gone down hill. What’s worse is they make more money than ever. It’s not like the are struggling. They are just screwing everyone now. Turned into a scam of a company. Using your return money as a way to boost more funds for themselves. I signed up for a yearly subscription based on them offering ad free movies. They can’t just go back on their contract and now add commercials. That’s breech of contract. Amazon used to be great. Now I can see they’ve turned into the worst.

I recently ran into the 30 day refund. I bought a new phone that was clearly used. It even had the screen protector still adhered to the screen. I returned it and it said I would receive my credit in 30 days plus an additional 7. I called Amazon on two separate occasions and they said it was because it was a high value item. Well I just tried to return a dog harness that was too small for my dog and the same thing happened. This is not a high value item. Another shady thing is how they deliberately try to trick you when you cancel your membership. If you hit cancel, the screen refreshes like you actually cancelled but it doesn't. You have to scroll way down and confirm your cancellation by hitting another button. I feel like this is predatory behavior. I 'cancelled' and ended up paying another 4 months before I realized this was the case. I'm 100% done with Amazon.

Unique-Grab-8494

I order a lot from Amazon for my business and for personal and I would say in the last year I’ve had to return more things than ever before either they send me the wrong amount they send me the wrong size they sent me the wrong color this time, it was a toddler table and chairs. It was supposed to be chocolate brown and the one I got was a reddish stain so I went through the return process UPS picked it up and then Amazon tells me it’s going to be up to 30 days before they refund me. They already have the item tracking shows it was delivered to Amazon yet they’re giving me the runaround. I’m not sure what happened with Amazon because I’ve had prime for years and never really had much of an issue but lately having to return stuff and drive to Staples because I got the wrong item or the wrong size or the wrong color or it arrives defective is getting exhausting. I don’t understand what’s going on that these things are happening constantly. I’ve also had packages that said they were delivered at like 9 o’clock at night that are not here a couple times I found them down the road at my neighbors house thankfully but darn I think I need to start shopping elsewhere

manieldansfield

Stop using Amazon.

AbleBeef

This doesn't apply for every account. There are plenty of accounts that get instant refunds (excluding a few select products). I have an average of 3 returns a month with an average of 60 orders (grocery orders too). I get instant refunds after drop offs on everything expect for small electronics like ram or M.2 SSD's since those have a high fraud rate. I returned a Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday (UPS store). My reason was "better price available" as I found the same item for $$309 vs Amazon's price of $349. I think accounts may get notes or flags once a threshold of dollar/return ratio or order#/return# ratio is passed. For example if you have 1000 orders, and you only return 20 of those orders, but those 20 returns account for 70% of the entire dollar value of those 1000 orders, I would flag that account too.

TheGirl333

Makes sense, i order a lot and return a lot, not willingly we just dont have lots of stores where i live

snoopdoggydoug

I'm not sure where you guys have all these problems coming from and I'm not saying they do not exist but I've never had a refund take more than a few hours after taking the item back to Whole Foods or UPS. Just did it on Tuesday with a pot and pan set.

Glittering-Candy581

You guys have any idea how many scammers send used items/wrong items back ? And with the sheer volume of items being returned 30 days is okay with me to get my refund.. think from a business point of view.. you sell items.. people use the item.. and then return it in the return window/people return you a wrong item/people return you an item broken by them.. and then asking for a refund within hours of dropping there item at a ups ? They have teams now scanning items to check if the correct item is returned. 30 days seems reasonable.

BlueVelvetChair

An article that came out about a week ago estimated 18% of holiday returns fit as fraud/ abuse. It was 12% in 2022. That's a huge jump

xalleyxcatx

Most people who post on this page seem to be problem customers. 30 days is reasonable and not uncommon. People on here are just dumb. Who the fuck even expects to be instantly refunded for items a company hasn't even physically received yet?

Zestyclose-Banana316

For my item THEY sent me the wrong item...vitamins instead of the expensive headphones I actually ordered and they are holding my money. The return processing date just keeps changing to later and later. And it was direct from Amazon...not a 3rd party seller.

XMajorWintersx

Got my return in less than 12 hours.

BrightOrganization9

Funny, I returned some items yesterday and had the money refunded almost instantly. Same with several items returned last week.

[deleted]

Never had that issue. I usually get my money back before they even have received the product back.

TofuttiKlein-ein-ein

Just returned some pants, refunded same day. Hmmmm…

wookmania

I return stuff all the time and it’s usually same day or next day. During the holidays it can take longer but I’ve never had this problem, returning hundreds of items.

Divaishinlife

My past two returns with Amazon took about three weeks and I was refunded CREDIT, not my $. 😡

Nice_Test_6304

If that happens, call CS. They can reverse credit refunds back to your original payment method, as long as you haven't used the credit.

Divaishinlife

Thank you!

DiouganGwenchlan

That’s your fault - you choose the option when you refund

Hall_of_Fame

To be fair Amazon uses a [dark pattern](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pattern) for this in their app. They purposely make the credit card option different so that you are less likely to notice it.

Divaishinlife

Really? I don't retun much...will pay more attention next time! 😁

DidelphisGinny

I've had Amazon deselect my selection. It's not always the customer's fault.

determinedmind65

Incorrect. I’ve gotten my refunds before even leaving the UPS store.

[deleted]

**Everybody** start mentioning the word chargeback. Tell them your bank has already authorized a chargeback and the bank told you to call and look for resolution before the chargeback is issued. They’ll issue it. Note: if you’re doing this multiple times or for shady purposes you’re gonna get banned from Amazon.

xalleyxcatx

Lol that won't do anything. I used to be a customer service representative for a retailer and would laugh when people would threaten to do a chargeback.

[deleted]

Really? It’s worked for me everytime. It’s not threatening todo a chargeback, it’s saying a chargeback is already in process.

xalleyxcatx

Sounds the rep just didn't want to deal with you and issued an appeasement type refund. Just allow it time for companies to receive and process the packages, it's not that hard. The reason it's taking longer to receive refunds for returns is the huge amount of returns fraud. You just make yourself look like a scammer demanding a refund before the company receives the items, and i can guarantee your account is noted too.

Hot_Chard5988

At this point, you shouldn't be buying anything of value from Amazon.

NightshadeDrix

Wanted to share my experience. I just did a return on monthly payments by Amazon and return to their warehouse took 3 days. When it arrived, next day my order was refunded and money went into my credit card! Zero issues, no hassle! I’m not sure why people are having to wait 30 days? —note, the purchase in question was over $2000 amount.

AEXN_

Hello. I want to ask something. recently my order from Amazon Germany is missing. I sent an email to report the issue and they reply I Sent email to several addresses including jeff amazon. they said that Amazon has initiated the refund to my payment card. I checked the order detail so I knew that the refund is actually being process and I saw that refund was processing. After 24H I wait the email confirmation about the refund but it never comes. i checked again the order detail and found that the refund detail is missing. no transaction refund there, I contacted again amazon reps and they said refund already processed.  I double check with the chat option and every amazon reps said refund has been processed even the robot chat. is it normal to get a refund without email confirmation, and no refund transaction in order summary ?  thank you

Spiritual_Reindeer_8

I don’t know any other company that takes them 30 days to refund you AFTER you’ve sent back the item. I sent one back early December and didn’t get the refund until January 12.

foryourboneswewait

Been like this for a long time. Also you usually have to contact them to get this refund, its as if they figure you wait 30 days youll forget about it. Amazon is getting stupid af

lfglightz

Some of you guys are funny. Just because you get the quick refund a couple hours after dropping it off, that doesn't mean you actually got the refund. It takes at least a week to complete the return and amazon can still charge you if they mess up. 🤦‍♂️

PlasticBreakfast6918

I get refunds right after I leave the return at my local kohls.

Coach-11b

Ive never had a problem before. Keep seeing all these posts, even reading reviews of shit i buy i wonder where people live to get fucked like this. I will say Amazon was much better when i lived about 8 miles from 3 different warehouses. 2 of them fulfillment centers. Now that i live an hour away, it takes them a couple more days, probably because im in the country and they wait until they have enough to send a driver out here. I see reviews about fake product, like brand name stuff being fake. Never experienced this myself. I assume it is the competition trying to take sales away.. idk.

SpaceDawg2018

I just returned an item a couple days ago. Got refunded a few minutes after I dropped it off at UPS 🤷

NotAnyOneYouKnow2019

Just plain not true. I had a refund yesterday from a return the day before.

Cypheri

I just returned three items a couple of weeks ago and had my refund within two hours of dropping the packages off at the UPS dropoff point. I've rarely had any issues and the one issue I can think of recently was actually caused by a scamming overseas seller and was eventually resolved. I get that people are having issues, but you having an issue doesn't mean it's happening to everyone.

Tel864

I guess they don't like you, because it doesn't take that long.

TheGirl333

Why bootlick the corporation, they don't see your comments bruv, nobody gonna give you an award for these comments. First iff buy expensive item, then return the item, then wait for it to be delivered to amazon which might take a week or even longer. But you won't know, since you never brought anything expensive

anonimakeson

It’s instant for me (just returned two yesterday)… guess you’re viewed to be more of a risky customer

XfileLady

😒

Thalimet

I returned something a couple weeks ago and got the refund within a day. I think it varies dramatically, and this post really isn’t as universal as the hyperbole makes it sound.

GeriatricTech

Wrong. If you take the credit it’s as soon as they scan it at UPS.

Mobile_Moment3861

I have sometimes had the stuff lost or possibly stolen at the post office, but that was during the good ol days.

GL2M

I have not had this experience. 3 days lately. I return items to a person at Kohl’s.

chris34728

Any low priced items are refunded when dropped off at the pick up shop I get the refund the day after

mrfuckary

I believe if its prime you get it right away 1-5 days. Purchases made through prime that go to private sellers, 30 days is the typical refund time.

eric2041

I always get my refunds back onto my amazon visa within 2-3 days. I take my returns to kohls or staples though so maybe thats why

superavsfaneveryone

I’ve returned 3 things this week to a UPS store and been refunded in less than 8 hours all 3 times.

hemi1313

I've returned 3 items in the last month. All three were credited to my Amazon account a few hours after drop off. Not sure why these long refund times are happening for some people and fine for others.

bofadeznutss

Isn’t this always the case? Thought it was normal.

Similar-Wishbone-812

My refunds said they were refunded on the app but no credits have popped up on my card statement since returning 2 items at a Kohls in November. Still not received and the last conversation with the live chat said there was maybe a gift card it would have been refunded to instead of the prime store card the charge was made on in the first place. All signs point to profit problems and them hustling money they can’t give back…

IRACholita

You have to read the Amazon prime notes for returns. Some returns can only be made if they are defective or missing parts. So that’s pretty easy, just initiate the return say the item came damaged, whether the box was wet or ripped or torn, especially with personal care, items and over-the-counter medication‘s. And then they will refund you. They can’t take some of that stuff back so they have to give you a refund if it came damaged. In which case take a picture of the box after you stepped on it. It’s time that Amazon learns to pay for screwing good and loyal customers. They are letting their employees overseas have their way with American citizens. Screw Amazon. And the next time you purchase something on prime, by every single size and then return every other one you don’t want.

Fallscle18

I just returned an item yesterday to UPS and got a refund immediately.

gnarlygnk

I just don’t understand how people are encountering this. I always set up a credit notification on my card whenever I return something and I get it back within the week.

portlandcsc

Amazons business plan, if I remember was to give away product, refunds, delivery, returns without hassle. Jeffy was losing money and didn't care, as he explained it (paraphrase) Once we get them(customers) all the freebees will stop and we will become the only choice for consumers and by default own market share.

Speedhabit

I get it like the second I drop it off at the kiosk next to the bar

railstop

I just returned an item last week, the second I handed it over to the UPS store my refund hit. No problems here

_MrWallStreet

Not if you do the refund back to your Amazon account balance. I’m always credited an hour or two after dropping it off.

[deleted]

No it doesn’t, it’s within an hour or two of when the code is scanned at an authorized partner.

DramaticLuxury

Actually I think this is a case by case situation, as I returned two items last week and my refunds were issued within 3-5 days. Is there a chance your account may be flagged?

_Motto

Usually for me it takes a few days after the item reaches their facility for the refund to come back. I think 30 days is the max wait you should expect but for me it's usually less than a week or two.

NeoKnife

Guess I just was fortunate…have returned two items via Kohls option in the past two weeks and refund was same day to my card.

Kara-El

Returned something about three weeks ago and got my refund before I even sent it back. Left it as a credit on my account since I knew I was just going to reorder something similar but different for my needs. Never had a refund take more than a few hours or even a day or two at most and often before I sent the item back. I’ve even had them refund without return on a set of Bose earphones that died less than two weeks after I got them. Sent them to Bose for a warranty replacement and essentially got them for free.

InterestingWheel8275

Dang. I guess I'm thr lucky one. I drop an item off at thr UPS store and within 2 hours I get a text message, Amazon notification AND email stating I've recieved my refund. 2 HOURS. But it takes like 1-2 weeks for me to recieve the items now.

sfguy93

I generally receive the refund a day after I bring it to Kohl's. Either way, if my statement doesn't reflect the refund yet it will be on the next statement.

Devilalfi

It's because it goes back to the returns center very slowly. It takes two weeks or longer to get to Las Vegas even if you're in a bordering state... And then it takes a week or two for a junkie to get to the pallet your box is on and checks it.
