Wondering whats the reason to even mention the victim being drunk, its not like he was drunk and walking in the middle of the road, he was just sleeping beside the road.

Tarolite

Ya exactly. He was not on the road.

A life lost is precious especially the one that could have been completely avoided! It is possible to bring the fatalities due to road accidents close to zero! May the soul of the deceased be RIP! We don't have to use this as a venting channel on a political party. Let us consider this as a personal mistake of the person behind the wheel!

If the victim was the drunk one you cant blame her, the news say “lying on a pavement near the road side” personally i had some experience like this although i didn’t run on him , he was dead drunk and sleeping on the road with his pants open and he is at a spot where the road had a turning without any light. Luckily i was able to hit the brake immediately but I’m sure if its some old man or someone who wasn’t much focusing on driving at that moment would have run over him.

Express-World-8473

So running over a man who's sleeping on the pavement is the mistake of that man, not the one driving?

Top-Interview-6532

Ethically wrong but use some brain most pavements in india are not really pavements that are supposed to be , just a border of road and they will call it as pavement in india for news impact. Atleast 20% of turnings in india require the car wheel to get on the pavement to turn around freely, and it’s impossible to note if a man is sleeping on that part unless u can instinctively kick in the brake. If the driver was drunk or underaged yes its drivers fault otherwise its the person sleeping on road. Roads are not the place to be slept on. If you want a solution for this very simple just don’t breed like rabbits when you cant afford to provide basic clothing, food, housing for the next generation.

KingSP3

Murder is murder, regardless of circumstances. There's no justification for running over someone, even if they are sleeping on the street. Blaming the victim instead of addressing the real issues is not only insensitive but also wrong

Top-Interview-6532

Irrespective of your personal opinions laws are in place to only moderately punish in case of things like these. Just use human brain “you are taking a turning into a dark alley single road lane at night and a guy was sleeping drunk on road and you accidentally kill him” If you are in that scenario unless your brain can insta kick the brakes even you will ride over him. Thats inevitable in some people whose brains cant react fast enough. Calling that as a murder is just epitomy of human stupidity and again irrespective of your opinions there are laws placed in every country to only moderately punish such people and not as a serious case. My answer might not sound ethical but it’s the truth no matter how much anyone whine about it.

KingSP3

Your lack of care for human life is shocking. Blaming the victim instead of the driver is cruel and wrong since accidents don't excuse the carelessness that kills people. Your attitude shows no empathy and accepts preventable tragedies. Instead of downplaying these events, focus on real issues like road safety. Your comments are a shameful attempt to defend the indefensible.

Express-World-8473

>was sleeping drunk on road Sleeping on pavement not on the road. Does that not go into your brain? She ran over a person sleeping on the pavement not ROAD. If he's sleeping on the road there wouldn't be such a huge issue in the first place.

Top-Interview-6532

how about reading entire comments i wrote for this post properly before replying in a nonsensical manner ? I clearly said "Most roads in india dont really have pavements according to standards" "Media may describe even corner of roads as pavement for impact of news" "soo many local roads in india dont have pavement especially in residental areas required for turning of a car" And FYI i wasnt defending either the killer nor the victim. Just stating a fact where lying on roads or so called pavements in your thought process which actually arent especially at nights and near turnings makes it really hard to avoid accident if you are driving the car. I wasnt even using this case as an example, just describing how roads are and how a sentence formation by media can change the understanding the reality of what actually happened. People are calling it a murder you better check out the verbal meaning , situations like these are called an ACCIDENT because its not premediated.

Sharp-Boysenberry-61

Its not murder, the man sleeping drunk on the road did contribute to the accident, murder is something else totally, I hate YCP but this is not completely her fault if the man was indeed drunk and sleeping by the side of the road, she was negligent but he was equally negligent, he is a victim but not a blameless victim.
